  1. I also need a new AGU fuseholder and maybe a new positive battery terminal? I tried going to Home Depot for some wire but the stuff they gave me is not flexible, its like a different kind of wire all together. I'm not 17 anymore, so that won't fly. LOL, I only need 2 feet. I want to redo a tiny section coming from my firewall to the terminal (already have the rockford stuff run that far). Also, I don't even see anything that will really connect that kind of wire. Obviously I'm not going to use wire nuts.
  2. Know anywhere local to get a good AGU fuseholder, a couple of feet of 8 guage and maybe a new positive battery terminal?
  3. I am very cheap right now so just replaced my old Clarion with a Pioneer HU, infitinity reference front and back and working on getting my hands on a couple of these CVR12's to replace my 10+ year old shitty R/T subs and have this lovely Infinity 611a showing up in a few days to replace my old Rockford Amp (was made in 2000!!) its going to be very loud. I have not the skill or confidence in doing installs (just replacing factory speakers and replacing an amp that was already installed is enough for me.. redoing the subs is going to be something new) so I doubt I'll go any further. I would love to put in an amp for my 6X9's because they are thirsty, but I don't really have the confidence i can do it (plus my alternator is probably going to die from just that sub amp alone).
  4. oh god. i work right next to that abomination. i've tried to go their for lunch and its only like 1.5 miles to the damn thing but it always seems to take forever to get in and out of there, weekends there is no parking and they jack the prices up on shit so high its insane. i loved it when i was a kid and like went there to buy house of pain cd's and shit.. but not no more.
  5. Wait, nevermind. I figured it out. If I buy the 2ohm CVR12 I see I can obtain 2 ohm safely.
  6. Yeah, thanks. The window closed on the alpine and I am kicking myself. I actually canceled the bid on one for super cheap like 2-3 weeks ago. Now there is no going back, I fell in love with this Infinity 611a and it should be here any day now. I have figured out all the ohm load configurations I can use, and its no longer confusing, but damn those dual coils because they give me such less power because there is no way to hook up dual coils @ 2 ohms. I'm going to hook up my old speakers at 2 and hope they don't pop. I'm either getting too much power to the old ones or not enough for the new speakers I want. Sucks.
  7. meh, things are pretty lame in these here parts. you have to go to another city or country to get any fun imo.
  8. Also, someone brought up the Mini SPL and this seemed very wisconsinish to me (with a tinge of Florida in it for some reason): http://www.hazeltonsound.com/silver.html
  9. New Richmond! THat is too funny. I grew up like a mile from there. Lots of hillbillies and whatnot, which is cool. I understand now that a redneck is just a country nerd. I'm in Minneapolis and can barely stand this winter. I was lucky enough to skip the last 2 bein in the middle east (not war, just fuckall) but you... you are a truly tough individual. This year has been harsh.
  10. I know there are others around from everywhere in the world, but what gives? Is it just because we don't have anything better to do when the weather gets us down?
  11. Well there is the HU I got. Nothing fancy, but certainly not going to be replaced anytime soon (its brand new from Circuit City RIGHT before they went tits up) http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130P3000IB/Pi...0IB&tp=5684 And these are the speakers I want to power: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1089623I/Infi...9623I&tp=91 That is all, really. The Infinity 4X6's in the front will blow out if they are amped, so that is out. HONESTLY, I don't think I have the skill to hook this up. I know when I'm beat. I'm just very close to having some very very VERY loud bass and I feel as though those 6X9's might get a bit drowned out with the paltry wattage from the HU (listed as 50 rms but I'm told 10-20 in reality). Those 9623i's sound good, but something seems like its missing.. like I'm just not doing them justice (and they are thirsty)
  12. LOLLOL, its too early to demo them babies. Actually, I thought he was going to show off quad MTX X ThunderLinks or something. Hey, for the price I was lookin at that box, it would actually be worth just tossing the speakers and using the box. Oh yeah, I have no doubt 4 of these would garner me some 'props.'
  13. Sounds bad. I think I would even probably want to avoid the same speaker in two different conditions? one new, one used then.
  14. Say I mixed an Alpine Type-R with a Kicker CVR12
  15. Thank you very much for the help. Everyone has me sold on the CVR12's, however... I'm very curious (and don't want to start another thread) but what are the possible dangers of mixmatching two totally different subs? Like, if I hook this up to two different subs in the same box. Thanks again!
  16. lol after fightin you guys on this one I'm finally comin round and have accepted my fate anyone trust this bargain? Has em at $58 but it has to be the sketchiest lookin website ever. no pic even: http://car-audio-deals.amazonwebstore.com/.../B000N8MW8C.htm
  17. Well, I can already smell my alternator frying, but if you think the draw isn't going to be that strong, I guess its worth a shot.
  18. I'm the opposite of professional. I'm a total slob. Now that you know that you probably won't be surprised to know I have no clue what my speakers are really rated at. I believe the multitool said they were 4 ohms a few years back and the box is sealed (I may try to crack it this weekend) and the brand is dubious. So this is sort of just "see what happens" for shits and giggles, but I really do want bass too. The budget will either mean CVR12's no problem or 'wait and see' so.. yeah. If I had to guess, I'd say the speakers can handle 400 rms, but that is a somehwat unusual # so its probably like 300 tops. If you noticed, this amp will be pushing 328w RMS into each if I run it at 2 ohms. Hmm How close will I actually be to that number or can I just be real careful?
  19. Slug from Minnesota (formerly Wisconsin). I want to compete in the jury riggin class someday.
  20. Sorry, thought I posted that: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-mxaLuNGc7Uv/p...rence-611a.html I don't really think 2 ohms is going to be an option I want to consider. If I do end up doing it, I promise to videotape it for this forum as those coils pop. I appreciate the help. THere is very little info I could find on the dangers of 8 ohm operation. so again, to clarify. I care zero about possible speaker damage, I only want to use the amp until I can grab two CVR's. But I do want this to work until then somehow without amp damage.
  21. Hmm, so it won't harm anything, it will just be even more of a power decrease then? I don't think I want it at 8 ohms & I am paranoid about this 8 ohms being too much work for it to be stable.
  22. So I have a sealed box. Two 4 ohm (I believe) subs and a mono amp. Now the amp comes with multiple speaker slots wired "in parallel internally" (which doesn't seem to differ from just jamming both speakers into the same slot, other than the ease). I believe that I'm going to want to only run this amp at 4ohms (until I get some better speakers or feel like testing these to the limit) so I'm trying to understand these diagrams: http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/ca/learni..._4-ohm_mono.jpg That must be dual coils, which I do not have. So I looked at this: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_c...sp?Q=2&I=41 Which only gives me a choice of 2 or 8 (?) ohm loads.
  23. Thanks everyone! I found this great how-to wiring guide to accomplish exactly what you say: http://www.crutchfield.com/learn/learningc...mp;amptype=mono Every noob should see that! Should be stickied almost.
