Here is where I get hung up. The 07CVR122 says 2 ohms, but per voice coil and there is two. The 07CVR124 says 4 ohms?

I like this plan. I just need to know if 1 will crumble under 456 watts or do I just need to tune, break it in, and monitor my settings carefully. I mean, its only rated up to 400 rms right? Good prices on those.. and I'll build my own box.

Noted. However I didn't skimp on the amp. I learned that 14 years ago with the Roadmaster & Jensen amps at walmart. I don't really have my mind set on anything other than affordability. I'm getting laid off with a severance package, so I'll either be incredibly lazy and broke or get a new job right away and be rich. Just preparing for all eventualities. I know what a bad amp sounds, feels and smells like as its frying. A bad sub though? I guess I don't know.

You guys have expensive tastes. I've never even heard of those brands outside here. I can see buying just one good speaker because it would save space and cost.. but wow. Ok, I will look (begrudgingly, I can't really see what will go wrong if I get a Volfenhaug or something)

Basically I'm just wondering if all these 300W RMS speakers will be in jeapordy from that amp. It says it has mutliple speaker slots, but its wired in parellel internally? I guess I would be less annoying with my questions in this forum if I understood impedance better. I am assuming everything is going to be at 2 ohms. Well the amp is ordered. Any idea what 1 sub would take 456 watts RMS in a stride (and doesn't cost as much as my car).

Well I sorta got it bad for that amp for some reason. Ordered it. As you know, I'm not worried about blowing out those speakers (that I don't even know the specs for or model # to look up specs for) but I'm just trying to have a backup plan. I like cheap. I like cheesy. Seems even the "best" subs being billed as "competition" and such are not even rated to run on that amp!! Trust me. They exist. Saw it yesterday (can't find it now) I believe it was made by Alpine specifically for Alpine HU's. Honestly I'm pretty lazy and tend to jury rig things (thank god this is just replacing another amp I had professionally installed, so the only task for me is mounting) and I just can't figure out if its worth much trouble to ever amp my rear speakers. amping the fronts is probably out of the question because these will likely blow out (i know this). So 2 channel is all I would be interested in.

I know some manufacturers make these. They are designed to hook up to the HU and boost power right? I just think somehow this would be best for me because I only want to power my rear speakers and don't really think I can figure out how to hook two amps (already have 1 for subs) up without draining too much power (a distribution block maybe?) but would rather just find an easy way to increase my 6X9's. Someone here mentioned my HU probably only puts out 10 RMS anyway (although they didn't say how this can be).

Again, I'm just sticking with what I know (and what's on sale) which isn't much. I know 2 channel. Right now I'm deciding on the Kenwood Kac-7204, the Kenwood KAC-7203 (both 2 channel) or this MTX Terminator deal (its going to be sooo cheap). I have absolutely no clue how to hook up a mono amp to these two subs (without it being overloaded somehow).

Well I have the two speakers to power. I know they are not going to blow out at 200 RMS or less, so I want whatever is going to give me clean easy power up to that point. The part I'm really noobing out about is "how do I know if hooking up two subs to a mono amp is going to be stable." If I could figure that out, I'd probably be fine.

I think its great. Especially just having all the different bikes and being able to shoot a friggin shotgun off them never gets old. Playing online is a hoot too, the races feature the Road Rash style play with bats and dirty tricks... so much fun. Definitely worth 20 hours or more of play for $20.

Good info. I do know how to wire stuff up and actually benefit from the original Best Buy install they did with my rockford amp and rockford components. I actually have a temporary amp wired in now. what I am ashamed to admit is that I don't know the actual stats on the speakers because they are sealed in the box (i've never 'seen' them), so I will open them asap so I can request help without wasting any of you people's time. that alpine amp is just such a good deal I bid on one last week then canceled it because i don't know if I can use it (max I would pay for it is $100 so.. a steal!)

You are probably right. You'd cringe at the other brands I've even considered. But I suck at trying to figure out if I'll ruin it hooking up two 4ohm clunkers to it. That is all I'm worried about is harming the amp. I should have been able to keep my old Rockford for another 10 years if I hadn't overrun the thing.

Oh crap, how do I figure out what the wattage is going to be for two 4 ohm speakers though? I guess I need to find those old physics formulas? Or is just going to be 2ohm load.. so just take half the RMS wattage? Very good idea. Thanks! I've been looking at only 2 channel amps and even passed up on a very good deal for a mono amp that I probably could use.... and I had ruled it out.

head unit= I miss my old skool alpine deck with the changing color button (that seemed to be added as an afterthought) but now Pioneer all the way... I had a Clarion deck for years, but now that I have Pioneer do I realize that I settled for garbage.. the Pioneer deck gives so many tuning options and controls every aspect to the point where I feel like I really can run everything from the head unit speaker= I really miss my boston accoustic 5X7's I used to have.. but now I'm just going with Infinity because they can be found dirt dirt cheap amps= rockford, but not the new ones.. only the old cast iron ones with the ears (all over ebay now.. almost appreciating in value too). I do, however, disagree with those who say they can take 'anything' you throw at them. I have blown them out (see my other thread) by setting them up with too heavy of an ohm load rockford wiring also, a must have subs= I've never had anything but my two R/T's that sound great when the right power is applied. I almost wish they would die or disappoint me so I can get something else, but they just take a beating

I finally got around to replacing my old old Rockford Punch 250a and inside the new amp box it had a diagram saying YES! and NO! Well, my Rockford amp is blown out in one channel (again, under warranty had it fixed previously) because it only gave enough bass out of my subs to satisfy me when I ran two 4 ohm speakers in parallel to a bridged amp. It says most 2-channel amplifiers DO NOT! support 2-ohm mono operation. Amplifier damage could result. Obviously this is how I ruined my amp. My question is this: What amps do handle it? Or am I just better off getting a bigger amp? I'm really just curious, since it said 'most.'
