They said that since it was a consignment it was my duty to know EVERYTHING. Which of course I didnt or I wouldnt be back as soon as they opened the next morning after buying it at closing time yesterday! I had them test the Voice coils and took their word that it was an RE, doesnt seem like they should be able to lie and misrepresent no matter what. I am so pissed right now! And this is after getting my wife to finally say ok when she is totally against this, and then this happened so she is livid!

I bought what I was told was an 05 RE xxx 18 from a local dealer (not an RE dealer.) They said it was a consignment. It had a fresh recone and looked massive, but Im by no means a pro. Not even a little! I get it home post pics on here and everyone was kind of like WTF? So I send pics to RE and find out that it is an Atomic APX18 motor and basket with a garbage recone with too small of spiders, the cone doesnt sit flush against the spider, the tinsel leads are short enough that they will snap under power, and that it is suppose to have a bolt down ring around the spiders for in field recones which is not there! Then I speak to Atomic and they verify its their APX motor and basket but crap softparts. I call the dealer and tell them and their like "Well how were we suppose to know, we dont carry RE). I told them they advertised an RE XXX 05 18 and they are responsible for grossly misrepresenting the item. They said they will talk to the person who consigned it and get back to me. An hour later I went into there shop and told them we need to figure this out because this is very frustrating and I have a lot of money just sitting there. He told me if I didnt leave and let him make a phone call then he wouldnt help me. He then told me I had to give him RE and Atomic's number so he could verify what I was saying, so basically calling my a liar. I gave them their numbers and am waiting for the outcome but this is absolute B.S. I guess its what I get for being in a hurry (I didnt want to wait for shipping to buy from the manufacturer.) Either way I think they are being absolutely rediculous and unfair. They lied and now I could be stuck. It shouldnt be legal. The only thing RE about it is the dustcap! If you want pics. they are under "new sub" in this subwoofer section!

Thats what I will do. Its a brand new recone. I looked under the rubber piece and can see its never been mounted, no screw holes.

maybe its a good mix then?! Should I use RE's power reccommendations then? The only thing I dont like is the tinsel leads arent woven in like atomics.

You know what, that shop didnt know what they were talking about. Ive figured out what this really is. Its a basket and motor from the Atomic APXX 18 with a recone apperantly from RE (at least the dust cap.) I think Im actually happy finding out its an APXX. Ill have it reconed correctly from Atomic after I mess around with it!

I know its a crappy brand, but 0 gauge regardless of the brand should be good for 1600 rms shouldnt it?

Got the sub and 0 gauge Raptor kit for $520 from a local audio dealer!

Alright I bought it. They gave me the sub and a 0 gauge Raptor amp kit for $520. I really like low end output and in a mid sized car it should be loud enough for me!

I turned down the offer and the shop called back and said $450. Is that a better price?

re told me they are great low freq. subs. Will I be more apt to hurt anyone of the three subs mentioned more than another by playing constant bass music?

A local shop has a 05 XXX 18 D2 for $550. Is this a good deal? The subs I am looking at are the DC LVL 5, DD 9515. I like low freq. bass music and hip hop. Is this a good sub for me? 8 cubes 32hz. would be the box. RE told me they reccommend 1500rms which is a lot less than the DD and DC. Any quick help is much appreciated. No re dealers within 300 miles of me so I have no hands on experience with them. Thanks!
