Oh, well then you should try looking at a Lexus forum, cuz that might be real hepful.
I just got a Jaguar not to long ago and I'm pretty lost with all the things in it....It is very different from an American car.
rofl how u enjoying that car?
-
You sure?
Well I don't know, I was just throwing out different ways to add HP.
no the only thing they do is there is some company you can mail your ecu to and you get it back in about 2 days... but i would rather not go sending it off
-
I think a CAI and Exahaust would be the easiest way, but you can Chip your car, add a better ignition system, and if you're willing to spend alot of money you can do a Turbo Kit, Supercharger, or a NOS system in your car.
you cant chip a lexus is300 dude...
-
After i get my car tuned up and i save up a little money i was wondering what are some minor things i can do to my car besides a cold air intake that will gain me some HP?
I do not want to get an exhaust so an exhaust is out of the picture...
any ideas would be appreciated...
I drive a 2002 lexus is300

Could be a number of things, like conditions at the track, temperture, track prep, ect. Street numbers and track numbers are two completely different things. Lots of practice and good track conditons is essential. Looking in the other direction could be the car as in things like fuel filter, air filter, plugs / wires, little things like that can hinder performance alot, even though you say last owner took care of it, never know how many miles can be on that stuff.
well took car this morning to a street where i could stop and go 0-60 and i ran it in 9.4 that was on the street but i am going to be changing all the spark plugs and the fuel filter then will retry it... i might get the spark plug wires changed also...

the track isnt very even and they spray a lot of that grip stuff almost halfway down the track... i would guess its the track then...

okay i have a 2002 lexus is300 automatic transmission.
the car was taken care of by previous owner and was garage kept and was in perfect condition when i bought it month ago.
I took it to the track near me which is a 1/8 mile track and i run 10.4 to 10.6 at about 64-67 mph... if my car is rated for about 7.4 from 0-60 why does it take over 10 seconds to do 1/8 mile at 65?

You're always going to suffer on that bottom note unless you have some crazy ass low end monster system which IMO will suck on the mid-high bass.
That bottom note is in the low 20s I believe. My subsonic filter cuts it right down ;/
Bad thing is my amp doesnt have a subsonic filter... Its a 10hz fixed so it dont help...
-
It doesn't work like that. By lengthening the port you're adding displacement which reduces box volume. Reducing box volume raises tuning. By my calculations you're still tuned around 45hz. It's is imperative to recalculate box volume after any port changes.
dude i tuned the port by entering all my calculation into the port calculator on REs website and i think it would be tuned to 36hz if i put in all my calculations then did the box exactly the same as the calculator... so its tuned to right somewhere around 36 hz give or take a few numbers.... but trust me its not tuned to 45hz anymore thats about where i had it before and lower notes sound better now....
-
Is that better than the way i got it now? where each voice coil runs off 1 channel?
i cant run it like that anyways because my amp is supposed to only be 4 ohm stable at mono but i talked to you before and i had it hooked up 2ohm mono before and it didnt shut amp off or effect it...
-
i would.. but thats just me..

that last note is crazy low, i think like 26-28, so its sending your sub into a free air type thing.. which is a bad thing
but you should wire the sub up like this,
i should wire the speaker up like that?

I'm curious how you "redid" the port. What are you're exact box specs? That last note is way lower than your 36hz box tune. Playing below tuning = bottoming out sub.
my box is 30x15x15 and the port is 3.5" wide by 25 long total which means its tuned to 38 hz based on the re L port calculator...

okay i redid my port by basically taking the top of box off and undoing the port pieces the used calculator to tune it to the correct frequency... my box was tuned to 45hz before and now its tuned to about 36hz...

and i have dual 4 ohm...
-
That kind of sub doesn't has a dual 2 ohm configuration, only dual 4 ohm or single 4 ohm.
ps6435:
Did you set you're gains right on the amp?( with a dmm or a o-scope)
yes i did i was told to use a 45 hz bass tone and turn the amp down all the way then turn up until u get to a certain metet reading...
-
im not totally sure but all i know is that you cant do a 1ohm load on it becuz it is not the right one so whichever it is...
which of those cant be put at 1 ohm? dual 2ohm or dual 4ohm?

Are the subs dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm?

ok on the last note of I Put On still sounds bad... i redid the port and used the RE Enclosure Calculator to tune the port to 36HZ and that last note on I Put On still sounds like it is bottoming out and i have my amp set right and i have it set to rms rating for the speaker put on it...

i have the eclipse 33230 and i have it hooked up where one voice coil goes to right channel and the other voice coil goes to the left channel...

Try to perforate the rear deck and carpet it with breathing carpet if u know what i mean.
Edit: i may assume the rear deck is made out of steel. I did the same on my dads benz few years ago.
how would you wall it if seats dont go down? you mean like taking out the back seats or something?
I dont really want to wall it though i would rather go with something that just shoots everything out of the armrest or through an area between the 6x9s like someone else said... if i cut out an opening up there and put breathable carpet it would be louder already...
-
I drive a lexus is300 and it really makes me mad because my sub is really loud but my seats dont fold down and the only thing that really lets bass through is the two 6x9s and the arm rest on the back seat that folds down and has about a 7 inch by 5 inch opening... what are some ways that i could beable to have a lot more sound come through???
I was wondering if a custom bandpass box where all the sound ports through armrest would be a good idea???

I have been looking for a billet grill for my 2002 lexus is300 and am having a very hard time finding it...
