  1. are you serious? did you pass the 4th grade? and technically every sub's usable cone area is different. The Sd value in t/s parameters.
  2. That was your fault for wanting an 18 and now not. But what is it about the 18 that you don't like? Do you want the space back? You can build a smaller box.
  3. where? link? lol. I am doing 140 with a 30 amp fuse on my amp and mid 140s with no fuse limit outta a trunk. My box isn't even really geared towards SPL. With my port plug in, I get a tuning of 34hz and it sounds amazing on any music. This has to be user error. pictures and descriptions of your install and what exactly is the sound quality that you don't like because you may not even know what real sound quality means or we aren't exactly interpreting sound quality to what you want. ps. I have had a single 12" SSD with flatwind coils and bp option with a Bxi1206 and a Bxi1606 and it sounded fine even in a prefabbed box. I also had the 12 SSD in the house in 1 cubed sealed and it sounded great. I, now, have two 10" SSDs with copper coils and bp option using an ap30001d amp wired at 4 ohms.
  4. link to the alternator built by DC Power Alt. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=65293
  5. okay update- girlfriend getting a DC Power 230 amp max, 140 idle alternator. bumper to bumper traffic and loud pussy cat dolls music killed the battery and the alternator is shitting.
  6. That pepper garlic sauce adds kick to anything. Great job. If you didn't look so white, I would have thought you were asian.
  7. If your really going for "home theater" then you have to tune below 25hz at least. If this is more a music set-up then tune higher.
  8. Yeah, I understand ya. I just don't know if the owner is up to handling 3000 watts and the electrical behind it.
  9. "Stuffing a box with polyfill makes it seem larger and it all relates to thermodynamics. When polyfill is added to an enclosure, it changes the behaviour of the airspring in the enclosure from "adiabatic" to "isothermal". The term "adiabatic" implies that there is no heat transfer occurring. An isothermal process occurs once the polyfill has been added. As the air passes through the polyfill, the fibers wiggle and cause some of the energy created by the airspring to be dissipated as heat. This heats the surrounding air molecules warmer, causing the air to become less dense. Being that sound passes easier through a denser medium, the speaker interacts with your enclosure as if it is larger than it actually is. The effective increase in enclosure size can be as much as 40%!" density = mass/volume.
  10. The reason why they say to spread the poly apart a little and not compact it is because the air will need to travel through the fibers and not just get stuck or dampened.
  11. Thats for the wire and not for the amp. If the amp has fusing on it already, why are you going to protect the fuses that protect the amp? And what applications are you talking about?
  12. The fuses near the batteries are for the wire and not for the amps. The fuses near the amps are for the amp unless amp's fuses are already on the amp. This is kind of basic.
  13. I use a relay between my front battery and my back battery. It has the pros of an isolator but not the cons. It basically disconnections the link between the battery when the car is off or not in accessory, depending on what power supply line the relay is connected to. I have it on the accessories line so I can listen with the car off too if I wanted too.
  14. Its not for me. Someone bought the sub from me and wanted a box. I am building the box for them. If this was for me, I'd put a 3000 watt on it. I don't know what they are doing.
  15. I need to still sand once more and paint another coat when the side and top baffle is glued together.
  16. space is a big problem in this build. Also, its not that small. Fi recommends 1.75-3 so its still within what Fi thinks is good.
  17. 1.9 cubes net tuned to 34hz. Its weird that I have a trend of boxes with the 34hz tune lol. This is for an eclipse convertible so space is a big issue. But yeah, sub up port to the rear. flush mount and all rounded outside corners. 40.5 in^2 of port. I wanted to go more but space was an issue again.
