[Installing Viper 5901 in 98' Expedition]

Working at Best Buy does have it's benefits. I'm getting a Viper 5901 this weekend for $183...can't beat that.

Anyways, I'm going to be installing it in my 1998 Ford Expedition. I was wondering what kind of bypass unit (if I even need one) I will need to purchase, and where to purchase it from. The truck has remote lock/unlock,and I'm pretty sure it has some worthless factory alarm.

I also wanted to get the glass-sensor, motion-sensor, lean-sensor(whatever it's called), and extra speakers/horns for it. Once again, I'm gonna need to know which ones I need, and where to purchase them.

I have every tool I will need, I'm pretty sure. Only thing I may need that I don't have is a soldering iron...I'm not even sure I need one.

I'm tryin to get my build up and going, but I can't do it until I get this alarm in.

the newer rock and metal has plenty of low end bass. The older stuff not as much. I tried tuning to 35 hz and 45 hz. Much happier at 45 even with the old metal. Bass drum is tight, and you can hear all the bass guitar notes. At 35 it was too flat. Just my opinion.

[Ticking problem in tweeters]

i installed a set of PPI tweeters with high pass passive crossover in the factory tweeter location in a dodge charger a few years ago. With the wires not connected to an amp, if the car was running, you could hear a ticking noise coming through only the right tweeter. The coils in a crossover can accept interference sometimes, it is rare, but it can happen. Anyone out there ever run into this?

not a good buy, but more like a goodbye? Q Power makes a woofer called a Q Comp. It has the same cone. After seeing so many similar parts on different speakers, i wonder if the manufacturers just pick how they want them to look, and pay some factory to build them.

ive heard mb quart amps wasn't that loud, more of a moderate volume sq type amp, thats why i dont have one yet

i really wish i could fix my hifonics 4406 amp, would do sick on active setup but i dont know who to call or send it to to have it fixed

i take it you never got the auto eq mic for your premier deck? 43.00 from pioneer parts. I am pretty satisfied with how it set up the crossover points for the tweeters. give it a try, man

funny, man. I did that on a similar chevrolet at the shop years ago. Customer came back 10 minutes later bitching about how I must have burned something up. I forgot th put the little plastic tab back that pushes on the pinswitch. doh!!!

cant remember off top of my head if that is the year with the driver and pasenger door pinswitches sticking out of the side of the dash where the door touches when closed. I have seen many of those switches fail, not the way you are talking, but possible. See if your domelight turns off and on with driver and passenger doorswitch being pushed in and out.
