  1. Lv5s are some beautiful woofers, just take some power to get moving.

Think the 3k will do the trick?

Somebody said somewhere that 3000 watts is perfect much more then they get stinky.

3-3500 rms clamped is about the best you can ask daily. The 3k amp would do just fine for a lvl 5.

The lvl 5 is not just a comp sub with daily side effects. Its actually the other way around. A mean daily ground pounding sob with the ability to do extremely well for high powered burps.

    Personally I like a 9k on a pr of lvl 5's ;)

  2. Just curious how much do they weigh? They look awesome

    i

I wanna say 103-106pds. I'll know for sure in the a.m. when I box them up and ship them up to where I was born. Too Funny lol

You were born in Alaska? Where at? And I know 1500 watts is nothing :(, but I still have to wait on the 7.5ks to come out and what not. But you know you could always send me your amps if you want ;)

I was born in anchorage lol I own 5acres off of moosehead lake.

  3. Over loading a crossover may do it but I think we got you all squared away.

We retrofitted your amp with a fan wired to the board. Rusty was unable to get it hot. I'll let him chime in on actual working temps as I was building subs when he did it lol

Thanks for chiming in, dude. He emailed me all the info. The heatsink only got up 84 degrees after an hour of play time. Either that fan is on 'roids, or there is an issue with the crossovers. I already took them out of the car and will be running active. I really appreciate that you guys took the time to test it out and everything.

No problem. Thats just what we do lol I'm gonna do the same thing to mine. One minute we are brain storming ideas on how to add one the next min Rusty is on a mission lol

  4. I'm gonna take the high road on this. The op didn't start this thread to listen to you bash on me.

I'm truly at a loss as to why you feel you have to drag my name everywhere you go. I did nothing but spend countless hrs. Standing in the rain, snow etc.. giving you free meter time and countless hrs on the phone answering tech questions etc. You have always been a hard head who believes that no matter what folks tell you they must be wrong because you believe yadayada.

I wish you the best in your endeavors.

Instead of doing this on the internet why don't you give me a call and we can hash it out. Number is the same.

  5. Brandon some times you really are full of b.s. your box was too big. End of story. Or maybe I just don't know what my woofers like. You make the call.

With less power you can optimize your driver by useing a bigger box thus bringing the driver to its full limitations easier. Bigger power you want a smaller box to gain more control on the driver. As little as .5 cu can make the difference.

Op my current set up in trunk does 150.2 @ 30hz. From 43-47hz it does a 151.2 and at 50hz it does a 150.2. 2 lvl 5 15s, ab 1100.1, 7.75in aero. Subs and port facing cabin unsealed. That's about As musical as it gets lol.

    All scores are dbdrag legal.

  6. Ray you know how I feel. Go with the 9k with the option to add later. Or just go 2 7.5s :)

    Boilermaker.....

Where do you come up with that assumption? Ive ran that 9k board at .25 daily with monster electrical and with stock electrical with a couple extra batts. I've never had an issue. Do I recommend it for everyone nope lol But it can be done with success. Hell we strapped a pr at .25 and they lived lol
