  1. these type rs are a bit different. There is a plastic ring that holds down the bottom spider and you have to glue the spider to it before you screw the ring back down. I did some tricky aligning and am pretty sure it's good. Did the old "push on it" test.lol If it rubs I'll play it till it quits!

How low should I tune the enclosure? I know home audio subs are tuned higher, I figure about 45hz or so. Any ideas?

Coil positioning is still the same bro. Once you set first spider hieght then you worry about bolting it to the frame. The only reason they use the bolt down rings is thier cheap glue doesnt hold a candle to our American glue.

  2. Not only will parameters change from one subs suspension to another it will also change from one coil to another.

If theres any question on whether your sub will take your amp.... get the m2 lvl 3. Its rms rating is 1k. End of concerns lol

I haven't bought the amp yet.....thats the point of this thread. I already have the sub, I'm selling my current amp in order to buy one that is both more efficient and powerful......thats why I want to know!

And Cody....no....I didn't know that, but I'm a knowledge junkie so thanks for layin' that down!! :drinks:

In that case you need a DC 1.2k :yahoo: That'll do quite fine as long as you follow DC enclosure recomendations. If you need any help with box, setup etc... Im always down to help! :good:

  3. First step....

Measure coil and find the center and mark it.

    Second step

Measure thickness of top plate, cut that in half and add it to the first line.

    Third step

Align second mark to top of plate. This is how to center a coil properly. With shims in place spin your spider to seat at spider landing. Pull all of assembly back out and carefully add a bead of ca glue around bottom of spider at coil. Be sure not to move the spider or it will end up off setting coil and it will ruub.

  4. lol I've always had loud systems. I was more than happy with my GP even fully loaded with 800+ lbs of equipment. I basically had to give that car to my wife so she had something to drive kids to school, shopping etc...

So now I want to be just as happy with my crx as I was with my GP. Improve handling, More HP, Nice paint ( probably a wrap job in the future), re do interior, roll down the road gleeming at 110mph, shaking windows as I pass ya! Once that is accomplished I will be a very happy man. :yahoo:

  5. Looks like you asked the right place. I have extensive time with the stetsom 14k2d's 18v 2ohm amps. I ran mine at .5 daily with a reactive load of 1.6ohm making just over 9k on burps. Biggest issue with that amp is they like to go up in flames upon turn on.

You should have no problem at 1ohm daily although realistically you can only run 3500 rms musically to your lvl 5's with a very very clean signal.
