  1. never done anything with an interchangable baffle before.. not sure if i can do it.. i might just stick with the 4 15'' l7's after speaking to greg i was told by him that they can only do 1000-maybe 1500 rms.. thats the same as the kicker l7's.. but i can fit all 4 better then 3 18's. and probally get louder.. so i will probally just stick with the kickers and sell the 18'' sx's....
  2. yeah.. from what i was told by kicker and by all over the internet.. the cone space of a 15'' square kicker l7 is that the same of a round 18'' sub... so my 4 15's should have the same cone area of 4 18's.. so my 4 15's should be more then 3 18's.. i never used 18'' subs before let alone re audio brand subs.. so i would not no anything about them or what to expect from 3 of them compared to 4 15'' kicker l7's..
  3. thats the same i was guessing.. i want whats going to hit the best on the termlab.. and i was also told by people over on caraudioclassifieds.com that the sx18's wont take 2500 rms daily.. and i thought 3 18's would cover more cone area..?
  4. o.k i got a killer deal on 3 18'' re audio sx18 subs.. so now im confused.. i want to get the loudest out of my 1995 pontiac bonneville.. i dont know what system to go with.. here is what i have.. can everybody and i mean everybody give me their expertise advice and opinions.. thanks both systems would be walled off in my bonneville.. system # 1- 4 15'' kicker L7 subs on 2 kicker zx2500.1 amps.. 1 amp to each pair of subs.. or system # 2- 3 18'' re audio sx18 subs on 3 kicker zx2500.1 amps.. 1 amp to each single 18'' sub.. i am very very confused.. i cant afford to do this wrong meaning.. i dont want to choose the wrong system.. i want to go to local comps and im not sure what will be best and help me win.. please i want everybody to jump in on this one.. even you meade.. if you can..
  5. the input board is here i just took it out to look at the board under it.. but the input board looks fine also.. and are the opamps your talking about on the input board or on the main board.. i seen several of them..
  6. i hooked it up using a kinetik hc1800 reading 12.8 volts.. its my permanent bench test battery.. but yeah anyway i have the gain only 1/3rd of the way up. and the frequency is off.. i dont need to take pics of that.. im not a newbi.. but yeah.. 1 channel out of the 4 makes any speaker crackle but the others produce no sound what so ever...? and where is the outputs that like to go bad in these amps..? can anybody take one of my pics and circle them for me to check..?
  7. o.k i have pics.. let me up load them.. i did just notice some white powdery residue on some spots on the board but again nothing burnt or swolen caps or resistors.. but yeah i just got the amp from my best friend.. its been sitting in his closet.. he said he worked untill he took it out the car and he believed it to still be working.. he knows i like kicker so he came across it cleaning his house recently and he thought of me.. i did not oay nothing for it but i tested it with several differnt speakers and different rca's ( i tested bench tested it ) but still i dont know what it could be.. give me a few ,minutes to upload the pics and i will post em in about 10 minutes or so..
  8. what should i be looking for..? i no it could be the speaker wire terminals or the rcas thats the cause.. but i have the amp open and i dont see a single thing on the board burnt black or swolen.. the amp is a kicker kx650.4.. it powers on fine, does not even go into protect mode.. green light comes on but im not getting no sound when i connect a speaker.. any ideas what to look for inside the amp..?
  9. highly agree with him.. i used 3m super77 ALOT and used a heavy single coat on both carpet and box , let dry for 5 minutes then stick it on and roll it smooth with a sound deadner rolling pin. works very well..
  10. the box the sub came in when i bought it said 4000 watts right on the box.. but i do see that websites say they are only 3000 max.. i have no ideal why but i do no my box was new from the store and said 4000 watts.. but yeah.. the port is 2'' open all the way around. it goes back 10'' and goes down the box 29''.. its 2'' wide all the way around.. and i was informed by some knowledgable people on here that since im only going about 1200-1400 watts rms that i should go with a bigger box then the 2 cf store bought mass produced box i originally had inorder to get better sound.. its a beast but i still cant upload the damn video. my wife listens to mainly old school metal and some oldies from the 50's.. she is only 25. im 28 we have 2 beautiful kids and our first own house we bought 2 yrs ago in pa.. im going to be on this forum alot more.. stay tuned for my new topic of the recon struction of my 95 bonneville sle.. i got 4 15'' kicker l7 subs in a 9.5 cubed box in the trunk ported thru the back seat.. with 2 zx2500.1 amps. im going for a wall build and a battery upgrade with a second alternator..
  11. i did a bench test video using a kinetik hc1800 but the damn thing wont upload in photobucket for me.. as soon as i can figure out whats wrong i will upload the vid.. so check back..
  12. i built this for my wife's orion hcca 4000 watt sub. the box is 3.7 cubic feet slot ported built above manufactures specs.. why because i knew i would get more sound from a bigger box.. here is the deal the sub can handle 3000 watts rms power daily with no problems.. my zapco amp is only pushing out probally about 1400 watts rms.. so in order to sound better you need a bigger box to make up for the sub being under powered.. i made this box to fit perfectly in the trunk right under the rear deck where the 6x9's are and to not take up hardly no room.. it fits perfect.. and the sound is amazing.. only thing left to do is to cover it up.. im unsure is im doing carpet or leather or what color as well.. so for now i just hooked it up in my house to bench test it and holy cow its fooking loud.. my kitchen cabinets opened up and 1 of my plates fell out and broke...  this box and sub is just straight sick.. i made a video but every time i try to upload it on photobucket it will freeze and get stuck at 60%. but i will find out a way to upload it.. you can see the subs 4'' of excursion in the video.. the amount of air it moves is just insane for a 10'' sub..
  13. WOW THATS JUST FUCKING NUTZ.. i bought this amp for $50 off a friend who needed money.. it worked for a month or so and now just trash i guess.. i called mtx and they want $85 to fix it.. its not even worth it to me..
  14. my wires are all fine.. power, ground, remote and speakers.. i even bench tested the amp with a kinetik battery and a 10'' pyramid sub i had and the second i put the speakers from the sub to the amp even with no signal plugeed into the rca's the sub was flexing like no tomorrow then blew out and smoked within 10 seconds.. and gain is less then 1/4 the way up.. i believe its the amp but i looked inside and nothing seems burnt or popped.. also is the 58.3 volts reading from the speaker terminals on the amp that im getting any good..? its sounds like way too much voltage to me..
  15. i got this amp and it was working fine for about a month.. all of a sudden as soon as i connect any sub to the amp the sub will sound as if its plugged into a wall socket and it will blow it within seconds.. i mean any sub.. the amp is 600 watts rms.. it blew a 15'' mtx 9500 also a 12'' jl w7 ... the mtx sub was mine and the lw7 sub was my friends.. it was his brite idea to try it on my amp.. he said no amp can blow that sub.. stupid idiot..lol.. but yeah i stuck my multimeter in the speaker terminals of the amp when powered on and they read 58.3 volts.. is that fucking crazy or what..? is this normal.. and there was nothing hooked up to the rca's either.. what could be wrong with the amp..? thanks
