  1. 2001 Dodge 1500 Single Cab Shortbed.

I am trying to get an idea of what I should do. I definitely want some subs behind me, and would prefer 12's for when we are out of the truck we can still here the base. Most of the boxes I have seen for 12's are to big to fit in the area and have maybe 1.2' from the back of the cab to where my seats at now. Is there anyway possible I could get some "short travel" 12's or would I have to get 10's?

    Thanks.

I too am a single cab owner and you can get plenty of bass out of 1 12 behind your seat. you can get 2.5 cubes behind your seat no prob.

  2. i like it lol i'd keep the axle caps chrome though, imo. just to break up the black/red a little.

Yeah im still debating im thinking its gonna be a bit much. i think i should just do them in all chrome

I say keep it all how it is now. The red bolts is kinda too much IMO.

there startin to get rusty man so i figured it was time for a change just deciding between chrome or red.

Should leave it the way it is, btw nice ranger man it looks really clean.

    preciate it bro

yeah the truck is really clean, which means you apparently dont use those tires much for what they're meant for lol

haha i can upload some of my muddin pics in the rangers early days. yes i regret the fuck out of getting it muddy. took a good 25-28 hours cutting, polishing, and waxing to get the damn swirls out. but thanks man its come a long way!

  3. Meh, I'm looking to upgrade everything eventually. I'm a poor college student so have to make baby steps, and also each step helps me learn a bit more. If you have more suggestions as far as amps, H/U, batts and whatnot feel free to throw them out there. I'm currently looking for a sub most actively as electrical needs upgrading so new amp(s) are down the road.

I am a college student too it sucks! but i have a little kinetic HC800 i can get rid of for real cheap!

  4. 3 inch should be pretty easy. My 6" wasn't too bad but was a bitch since it was only 50 degrees outside and cooked off to fast. I used a metal bowl that was just smaller then the pipe on the bottom so it barely fit over it. Heated the bowl up with a heat gun and then heated the shit out if the PVC till you could see it was soft and start pushing down with some strength while still applying heat. Helpful to have someone help. Keep pushing til it's flared to your liking and hold it there with strength until it cools. Then remove. And the more flare you get to the harder it is to push down.

where would i get said metal bowl? lol

  5. Hey guys, i don´t know how to use any sketching program or anything but it´s ok, i just want you to check the size and ratios of a 4th order i´m designing for my friend´s nissan almera, i´ve designed and built lots of boxes before, and also, a few Bandpasses but nothing major, i just want to double chek with you guys, few heads thinks better than one :yahoo:

Anyways, the box is for 4 Digital designs 2515 , it´s gonna use about 6000 watts, we don´t know yet.

    3:1 RATIO

    24 cubic feet after displacement.

6 cubic feet the rear chamber, 1.5 cubic feet per each 15" sub

18 cubic feet the front chamber with 370 SQ of port , 20 SQ per cubic feet tuned @ 45 hz

This is meant for hairtricks, demos and daily listening, maybe i´ll build another port for comps, don´t know yet, but main goal with this design it´s to have a very good musical box that still scores a nice number :peepwall:

Sounds good? any comment, opinion and advice are welcome, i don´t wanna mess up and lose tons of money and time building this hehe, cheers!!!

looks pretty good you probably wont need that much power tho 3:1 ratio 4th orders are really really efficient.. how are you planning on mounting the woofers? like in a V?

  6. It helped some... I am going to re read through it all tomrrow but i just got off the phone and the previous owner said that he put 150k on the jeep and never change the transmission fluid.

So i am going to pursue that first. I really hope that between this and getting the bands tightened fixes it. If it does that will save me $600 to rebuild the trans.

yeah your fucked. when you dont change the trans fluid every 25-30k the metal shavings inside start to wear at the transmission at 150k the gears have almost no grab at all the shavings give the gears friction at this high of mileage to keep going. noone knows to change the trans fluid often.

  7. Anyways man about how much am i looking at to get the bands tightened... I am going to wait till after i change the fluid. There is no telling how bad that fluid is and something may not be getting fluid that should be.

prob about 200$ to get your trans a general service which includes getting the bands tightened. if the car has over 60-70k on it and you vent changed the fluid once dont flush it compleatly then. because the metal shavings between the worn down gears are literally holding it together if you flush it then they wont be there any more.
