  1. I've told him to save up but he doesnt want anything amazing. Just said he would like a little bass. He drives an s10. He has stock alternator/battery and no interest in upgrading anything so i figured maybe 200rms per sub without pulling much from the electrical. Like i said he has no interest in anythin too nice. Just wantin to put a paycheck towards some subs and amp. I dont want to tell him to go to wal mart.

  2. Ya that's parallel. It's right I was just making sure you didn't have them mixed up. I have an Audiobahn amp that runs hot no matter what and it use to eventually overheat, I needed a thicker power wire to ensure it didn't go into protect. It still runs hot but before I could fry an egg on it if i wanted. My friend used a sony amp for a short amount of time. I believe he ran a single RF 10 on it and fried it. Now he probably had his gain too high or somethin but this was when i wasnt around. The amp wont even turn on now.

  3. I want some components or maybe even full range if cheap. That have real good SQ, I've heard Infinity Kappa's are nice and I know RF gets mass support here. Was going to give them around 100wRMS so they should have plenty of power. Just need to find some good midbass to go with around 2000w RMS from the subs

  4. Looking to buy these within the next couple weeks after I get a new head unit, Anyone use Alpine for mids/highs or is there a better brand. Looking for good sq on the door speakers potentially gettin 2x 15s in the future assuming everything goes alright so need these to be able to keep up with around 2k rms from the subs

  5. Must be luck of the draw then because my Pioneer is 6 years old and is just now starting to give me problems. Nothing major jus sometimes when i go to switch the song the screen dims so i cant see anythin but its only for a second. I've got the touch now that it doesn't do it for me and since in my car the head unit is for my hands only no worries haha. Though mine doesnt read anythin but CDs, no outputs and only 1 preamp, ill be upgrading next paycheck.

  6. Had to google to find it, I have 2 of these, Theres an amp thats the same style but puts out 400w rms x2 at 2 ohms. The subs i have were in parallel but I switched em to 1 sub per channel because i noticed a significant volt drop for almost any bass. I'm going to upgrade the entire system most likely not jus the amp. Audiobahn was a good first/cheap system 3 years ago but i think its time to move on once i get the money(college is expensive).

  7. So even running at lower ohms I do not have to adjust the gain for the new output? My subsonic is just an on/off switch. Its an Audiobahn. Im not happy with it currently but i bought it 3 years ago when i was 16 and didnt kno much. I have it hooked up to 2 Audiobahn subs rated at 400w RMS a piece so this sub is only givin half at the most.

Amp, Will be upgrading this soon

  8. On my amp it has a subsonic filter from 20-50. If this is on do i still need the low pass n high pass or does the subsonic do that for me? Also, my gain has no numbers on it jus min and max so the only way i can set it accurately is an oscilloscope right? I had someone else tune my amp because i then knew nothing, now the amp is running at a lower ohms so was wondering how much to adjust it, even though its powering my subs half of what their rated to handle anyway. Any input on this?

  9. Little update, been lookin around at the Alpine, still debatin component or full range, dont think i want the hassle of cutting the door to install a tweeter in my door even tho it would help out the sound so probably gonna go with full range. Anyone have experience with the alpine type r components? or have any other suggestions. Thinking about running them off the Sundown 100.4.

  10. Sorry for a little off topic I dont want to make a whole new topic for a short question but I've been doing some reading and read that by setting the gain you are setting the RMS.

For example if you had 2 subs that could handle 1000w RMS a piece and the amp your using can only send 300 RMS to each. If the gain is tuned lower then the full your not giving the subs the full 300. Not sure if this is clear enough. or if this information is accurate just kinda wanting a credible answer. Thanks.

  11. I drive an 03 Dodge Durango and am looking to replace the stock speakers. I read their 6.5 all around, going to make sure of it tomorrow. Would it be better to get a 2-3 way speaker or a full range. I thought if i get full range and just install tweeters somewhere itll be fine. Looking for answers with some credibility rather than just googling all day, so here I am.

Was going to run around 100w rms to each speaker by an external amp so looking for some good quality speakers. Let me know some suggestions while i continue to look around. All help appreciated. Thanks

  12. Do you have a link to the exact sub, assuming their of decent quality 50 watts of clean RMS over shouldnt be too much.. the ohms of the subs are just for wiring options running 2 4 ohm svc subs in parallel gives you 2 ohm presented to the amp so it should be fine, i ran a class A/B amp at 200w RMS and tho it does tend to get hot it handled daily abuse so that amp should be fine.

I ran a similiar build wattage wise with stock battery/alt and no big 3 upgrade so you should be ok as far as that goes.

Im by no means an expert so if i said something wrong please let me know.
