  1. Not trying to thread jack but didn't want to make a new thread for a related question. My wire from alternator to battery positive is 8 gauge stock. Would that be good enough for around 2k rms set up or should i just 1/0 it and never have to worry about it again? Right now I don't have the budget to buy things that are not completely necessary but I refuse to half ass anything since I love my SUV and system, and would like them to love me back.

  2. I'm going for Software/Computer engineering at PSU, I can relate to the chemistry. I hated it but I passed and never have to take it again. I've debated a lot of options from changing majors to dropping out and going to a tech school to be a mechanic Just look around and you will figure out what you want in time. It's best to get your basic classes out of the way like said above. Aslong as you decide on some degree you will be happy you got the bs classes out of the way

  3. Well this isn't a box to actually put in my suv. Just like.. hey i got some board layin around why not use it for somethin. I kno itll be small but just wanted to see how big of dimensions i'd need. Can go sealed if not enough room. Just kind of practice. I have 12s in my car ..jus have a ten sittin around.. it's an RF p1 ten.

  4. Sorry maybe i was a little unclear. I have 2 of these boxes already I found them in my basement from years ago. I'm going to combine the 2 and make a single 10 enclosure just to practice building boxes since I never have before. I'm asking what are good dimensions for a sealed and ported box so I can see if I have enough.. I got numbers off of the RF site, but don't know how big to make the port.

  5. I love how the 9886 looks. Just noticed that sonics has it advertised at 4v preouts but when you click spec it says 2. But crutchfield says 4v so ill go with that

And those 2 links do not have front aux.

Maybe I'm being a little too picky but for the moment I want to see if there is one exactly like I want. I've been searchin

Here's a couple others that are close

    http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17693_...EH-P510UB.html#

    Not much difference between those.

  6. Been finding head units very close to this but here's exactly what I want, not sure if theres a model out with all features. Been through pioneers, alpine, lanzars, kenwood, eclipse, even pyle.

*Single Din, Color Blue or White

    *CD, MP3, AAC, Cd-R, CD-Rw readable

    *3 preamps 4v+

    *18-20 rms(until i get amp for it)

    *Front Aux

*Dual Rear USB ports unless theres a way to split a single one. If not then this can be just one rear usb.

    *Ipod, Bluetooth, HD radio capable.

I found a kenwood that is close but mostly pioneer seems to be the ones i want. Alpine 9886 is very close aswell.

Let me know if you guys find anything. Not sure of all the sites out there and I'm a little iffy about ebay.

  7. I was going through my basement and found 2x 6x9 enclosures from wal mart. I rem my first car didnt have any back speakers so this was the way I did it. Well now I have a ten layin around and was going to see how much I would need to make a small enclosure out of this. I may not have enough but hell why not. Maybe both enclosures combined will give enough. What you guys think. This is just for something to do.

    Here's the link.

Thinkin 13.125 H x 17 x 15.75 would work since I got them off the RF site. But they have it vented. How much could i make. This will be my first box ever self made. It should be good practice.

  8. If anything it'd be the power but the thing was it would dim the lights but the volt meter wouldnt drop below 12.

A little off topic but was wondering a kind of guesstimate on what the db's of 2x 12s @ 400w rms would be. I know there's alot of factors, but say in a correctly built ported box for the subs. Would it even break 100dbs? Lol. Just kind of thought of it. Maybe it a stupid question but am curious since it most likely won't ever get metered.

  9. So we put 2x12s in his truck to see if they would fit and it looks like they should no problem. So now he wants 2x 12s to run at around 300-400w rms. I can see he will get addicted to it quickly but doesnt have the money to upgrade much. His lights were dimming like crazy on a little 400w rms audiobahn amp. Most likely gonna drop the rms to 300 until he can do big3 and upgrade electrical.

Another question. His battery terminals has side terminal with bolt that dont allow anything to really be attached. Whats the best way to fix this without changing much. If there is a way. Never had to deal with a battery with side terminals

  10. Room for sub upgrades if he gets the bass bug and wants better subs. Could potentially save him an amp. Chances are ill jus get a mono d amp and run it at 1-2 ohms but if i could find a 200wx2 @ 4 ohm for 150 or less and I know the amp is credible would just make things easier. It's not like it has to be 4 ohms.

  11. I had no complaints with audiobahn, for a first system anyway. Definately checkin out what kind of RF deals I can get. Waitin for him to call so I can go check out his truck and see what he wants to do with an enclosure. Thanks for the suggestions I didnt know about that site so ill check it out. Ill show him the cvrs. Was wantin to run w.e amp at 4 ohms if possible.

tech, Ill bring it up to him but I dont know if he will want somethin used. Ill let you guys know what he decides.
