  1. I have a Rockford Fosgate Power HX2, RFR 3112. It has pretty bad spider sag...I'm curious if there was a way to loosen the spider and reset it closer to the 0 position, or if suspending it upside down or even installing it downfiring would work. I would really rather not re-cone it. Thank you in advance!
  2. Thanks for the suggestions!...at the moment I'm seriously considering the T3 t.2000, followed by the SSA xcon and Fi BL. Yes a lot of subs suggested require a ported box, and they would get one as I'm not doing a direct swap. I don't have a shop so due to impending cold weather will probaly be spring before I do anything and that gives me plenty of time to design a box. The T2 even with a bad coil is still doing a fine job, so I'm definitely in no rush.
  3. Checked out all the ones that were suggested and they all look great keep throwing suggestions and testimonials out there
  4. Oh yeah don't get me wrong I think DC is sexy. I spoke with Rusy last June about some LVL 4's and he seemed like an awesome type of guy! They arent off my list, and if nothing else will one day like to play around with one of their woofers when the money situation isnt as tight.
  5. Checked out your build man gotta say looking good and lots of cone area! I've heard good things about the orion HCCA's I'll look at them again. I'll check out the AA Havocs and AQ HDC...seen them mentioned before, but never really looked into them. And the sundown Z I almost bought when Jacob was clearing them out instead of the T2 I bought from chode last year, but was really wanting to try out new RF stuff since the only other subs I've played with of theirs were from the early 90's lol. I will definitely look at them; I didn't know the v.2 was already in production. It's been over a year since I've kept up with anything car audio. related
  6. Wow, kl didnt know the Fi BL was getting a 4" coil
  7. Meh, I'm looking to upgrade everything eventually. I'm a poor college student so have to make baby steps, and also each step helps me learn a bit more. If you have more suggestions as far as amps, H/U, batts and whatnot feel free to throw them out there. I'm currently looking for a sub most actively as electrical needs upgrading so new amp(s) are down the road.
  8. Hello all it's been awhile. I am currently in the market for a new 15 or 18 for a single sub, trunk setup (1995 Toyota Avalon). Currently using a old model Fosgate T2 15 running on one voice coil because the other voice coil is gone. I was looking to spend anywhere from 200-450. I am currently looking at the 2010 model T2's, Fi BTL, and DC LVL 4 or XL. At the moment have roughly 4 cubes before displacement, and will more than likely will be in a sealed box at least for a few months, but will see a ported box next summer. Will be run off a sae-1200 currently and in a few months either RF 1500BCP or US Amps md 2d. It will be a daily driver that plays everything although I like the sub to be able to get really low(but thats a good portion of box design). I really liked the T2; not as much as I liked my Fosgate SPP-188's, but close. Pretty much just looking for people who have actual experience with the subs, and their thoughts. Suggestions for other brands and model of subs are appreciated. Please no (Brand A. > Brand B.) type comments.
  9. lol its hard to throw away 30 bucks worth of wood without at least giving it a go...I didnt know wood glue was preffered to silicone though so I'll use that next time...and yeah I was irritated when I got home and started putting it together....some of the cuts slanted as much as 1/2" so therefore the cracks instead of actual seems:(....ill be going to get wood tomorrow and will go to my buddy's house this weekend to get the board cuts done right:) ill follow up once it's done...any suggestions for tuning before I start designing it?
  10. It's xovered at 80 Hz at the up end...im going to go play with it and the subsonic filter rite now. to see if that changes anything:)...I did raise my HU's eq bass lvl a bit and reset the gains and it sounds a bit fuller....but still gets sloppy on some bass notes but im pretty sure the box needs resealing as its blown the silicone out of some of the larger cracks:( may need to build another box using my buddy's saws rather than lowes (they were off track when I got my wood cut there:() anyway to make it a bit tighter...
  11. I used RE's enclosure calc to try and match RF's recommended enclosure tuning and size...had to adjust a bit to fit in trunk. I've got my HU's eq set at the lowest possible for bass and the gain I set using a dmm and then backed it down a lil so I could use the bass knob a bit to turn it up or down...I'll have to check tomorrow for the xover settings as night now and it's been so long since I set it...thinking on it that may actually b the prob and I'll play around with them over next couple days...I kept the same xover settings I used for 2 vintage rf 15"s n a rf prefab 3 way box and figured that it should produce the same sound response roughly....Thanks again man and I'll post up my settings 2moro. *I keep the bass boost at a minimal level most of the time as I am slightly overpowering the sub a bit and trying to avoid a dirty signal...
  12. I like sealed mainly because it's very simple to make, and I don't have a lot of experience with ported. This ported is the 1st one i've made, and it could be my construction rather than the box, but I don't think so...It is possible though:p.... and atm port and sub are on same side and have tried facing the box forards, backwards, and sideways...Now another problem it could be is the fact the trunk is completely sealed off from the cabin but I dont think thats it...The rear speakers are in the doors so no easy holes to open up and see whether thats the problem or not...Ive debated whether or not I should make a couple holes in the rear deck for ports or at least make it so the bass can access the cabin without having to go through the back seat and the rear deck plate...ill see what other input I get and I may just port up thru the deck...As it is though im fairly certain its the box whether its the tuning, size, or my construction I dno but thanks man
  13. Hello all, I was wondering what size people would suggest for a sealed box. It will be going in a 1995 toyota avalon and powered by a sundown 1200d...I've built one thats roughly 3.25 ft^3 internal after displacement for sub port and bracing and it's tuned to about 35 Hz with a slot port.It gets hell of loud and drops lowww, but I'm looking for a flatter response overall and something a lil less sloppy on rock...So anyone who has had experience with the t2 in a sealed box please chime in as I have heard a few people have experimented with them...and any suggestions for a different ported box qould be appreciated as well! thanks
  14. Fosgate RFX-9420, I love mine...but they r hard to find:( only easily found dead HU's that i know of r eclipse...and they r a bit pricey as you stated... *There was used one on ebay a couple weeks ago and the starting bid was 200 with free shipping and im fairly certain it did not sell...u may can try and contact him if your interested and have a sellers account who can check completed items
  15. Yes, some vids would be amazing! I've been wanting to run DC for a few months now, but waiting on money to come through, so I enjoy seeing reviews such as yours. It makes me happy that I've chosen DC for my next install! Mind sharing amp and box info?
  16. Just bought a T2 from him and everything about the deal went smoothly. The t2 was in excellent condition and was stiff as hell. Very friendly and easy to get along with A+++ Definitely a cool guy if you get the chance to buy something from him do it!!!
  17. Lol thanks for the input...I think I may seriously try it for laffs just to see how it works out...and nah its redneck if you use a couple junk car's tailpipes as a ports one night after you and a couple friends get a bit tipsy and want to throw a couple type arrghs in his car :drunk:
  18. Figured it was a horrible fail, but thnks for the info...
  19. Lol yeah I know...but pvc is 10 mi out of my way when I got the gutters right here ...and also a box that cost me $0 would be awesome as hell *I could actually do a slot port, but was just really curious if gutters could be used as ports:)
  20. Well I just got done doing my gutters, and Ive got a few random pieces left...now I got to looking at them and I started wondering if they would serve as decent ports? I'll be building a budget, temporary box this weekend from stuff I got laying around the house from my last build. So is it worth even trying or would it just be a HUGE FAIL?
  21. I'm not sure if this post will be considered spam or what, but I wanted to give props to Jacob for making a really great and dependable product. I bought two of these while he was blowing them out as I was wanting to try out some of Sundown's products, as I don't know anyone in the local vicinity who uses them. And given the pricing at the time it was hard not to work my butt off hustling some of my old stuff to buy them...and convince a friend of mine to grab one as well. : At the moment I have it powering an old school Fosgate spp-188 and it pushes it amazing; even though it's into an 8 ohm load. For anyone looking for a review this is a good product by a great brand, and considering the newer version seems a bit hardier I would definitely recommend these. I haven't been able to see it at it's full potential yet, but I fully plan on it soon as the money allows to upgrade to some quality woofers that offer more wiring options:spiteful: I'm really looking forward to get both of them installed and putting them through their paces as they seem to have a lot of potential, and possibly early next year trying out the other amps offered by sundown.
