  1. Ever think of an SUV? An AWD (All Wheel Drive) SUV, that weighs 5,000lbs, and runs 12's in the 1/4 mile? Get a Chevy Trailblazer SS, superchargers, tunes, efans, headers, exhaust, motor mods ALL AVAILABLE... Tons of room too... Jeep Cherokee SRT-8 is faster stock if I'm not mistaken...
  2. customs weren't as bad say 5 years ago, they're trying to protect the market here for the local manufacturers (most companies including GM run their productions lines locally, they just produce a limited number of models)....and GM Russia were saying that they would get the Camaro here, but looks like they don't want to go through the expense of getting the required certification for something that won't more than a few dozen units a year....they sell the Cruze's and Sparks and what not - plenty of these around..... Tahoes, burbans and all kinds of american SUV's are popular here as well So getting a car out of the US isn't a problem, heck, it's not even that expensive at 1000-1500$ to load it in a container and it's at the border of Russia in Finland. but getting it through customs is a whole another story, especially something with a large engine we have lots of Jap spec right-hand drive cars here
  3. yep, that helps, thanks! so if they were actually in showrooms spring 09, that would make the build dates closer to the 3 year mark we are looking for Going back to the G8 - that is actually a bit older than needed, anything older than 5 years is also much more expensive to import. Plus the look isn't the same
  4. Anyone know when production actually started for 2010 Cmaros? I'm looking at CarFax reports and the build date isn't in there (I thought it would be for some reason).... can i get the build month\year from the VIN? just not looking forward to calling up on every single car and asking the sales guy to look at the tag
  5. yeah, just watched the motor trend vids on youtube.... the Shelby barely edges out the SS in performance. as far as resale is concerned - not worth it here in Russia, a mustang is a mustang and a camaro is just sooo much more scarce than a car that has esentially been around since 2005..... not enough of a legacy here.
  6. thanks for the input guys and, yes, pleaase keep in mind that we are after a pre-owned car, low-milage and certified is preferred, but it has to be at least 3 years old to get it through customs this may be a problem wit the SS as it's a 2010 so I have do some research with carfax to seee if there are any cars with suitable build dates So far it seems that the Shelby has the edge here.....how awesome is the handling? any comparison to bimmers? it also wins slightly in customs fees - the 5.4 is around 28k, where as the 6.2 is 32 but we also have a nasty horsepower based road which is closer to 2.5k a year on a 540hp anyone think ths SS + bolt on supercharger = 550hp or so would match the shelby? or will that just widen the handling and brakin gap (if there is one)
  7. so I have a client that wants to import a car from the US (I help people with this from time to time, my last two trucks were also imported from US for example)...He wants something that looks good, is superfast and can handle decently while not being a superexotic with hard to get parts and special service requirements. His last two rides - a Porsche Cayenne turbo and a 4.6 x5 bimmer - looked, drove and handled great, but the maintenece on them is through the roof here..... I swayed him over to consider american iron, and him having fond memories of his GMC Typhoon from back in the days, helped the cause so, we are looking at 2009s - they actually have to be with build dates prior to 09\2008 according to the sticker\Title.... this may be kinda tricky with the 2010 Camaros (but these were likely sold in 2009, right?)..this is customs related out of the three the Shelby gt500\Cobra mustang with the supecharged 5.4 has the most power - 540 vs 420-430 of the SS and SRT-8 ....the downside - latemodel mustangs with the 4.0 and 4.6 engines are fairly common here, most of the decked out with rims and exhaust so not many will know you're driving the top of the heap mustang with the gt-car engine..... there's like a hanfull of camaro's though and i have only seen one challenger so far.... so the wow factor is in the favor of the chevy and dodge..... plus the prices for the ford look to be in the 30-50k range (much like the supercharged cts-v) while the challenger and camaro ar more like low 20's to 30k.... and since we are looking at around 30k in customs fees to get any of these into Russia the purchase price in US should really be under 30k to fit the budget...25k would be perfect....and the extra money could be used to fit a supercharger and even up the HP figures anyone drive any of them to have any idea how they handle? how's the interior? any decent reviews on line for the three? what's the performance like? anything else under 30k and made in 2008-2009 that's worth a closer look?

  14. then I manage to get the guys a used Nightshade Feeling pretty good now with two days to go! Sergei spends the night in the shop putting more resin into the box and painting the box inside ..... not a thought crossed our minds, but the next day - 157.9 - 158 tops ...again too much throw... so Andrey sands it down we are almost back....just a day to go some tweaks and sound deadner they day before we roll out
  15. my guess is everyone has seen the 160 score from the little yellow car here's the buildlog as it went - I am translating and posting what Drugban posted on the Russian forums Subwoofer - Sundown Audio Nightshade v2 18" d1 amps - two Sundown Audio NS-1 bridged to 0.5ohms bats - XS Power D3100, D2700 and D6500 + two 4v FIAMM cells Shok Industries competition wire! This is as with most of our builds was a team effort - with the work being done by Igor (drugban), Andrey (the owner of the Mitsubishi SUV with the 15 sa10's) and Sergei. transporting the car to the event could not have been done without the help of another prominent Team Sundown Russia member - the owner of the white Mazda 3MPS that has a buildlog elsewhere in this section A little background to this - the guys bough the little yellow car early in July as a test rig to try out different equipment combos and maybe build it to be loud (small car that peaks high, is cheap and readily available)... they were at an IASCA comp - where they were challenged by a well know competitor in the advanced NW class to bring their A-game to the national Finals at he end of July (this past weekend) - which left them a little over 3 weeks to get the car togehter when they got back they started with an old, well used z18v2 and two SAZ3500's on 12v mounted in the SUV First ry at the single 18 box Первый замер с зетки и двух 3500ых.....порт ниочём!! needz a new port same sub and two SAZ3500's Sub is running out of usable throw - being used and subjected to over 100 burps at full power the result - less than a week to go we are not loud enough and here come the NS-1s!!! many thanks to Jacob for getting these out so promptly to us tearing everything down, and building a new box from scratch after finally finding the new peak frequency - it is now 4 days to go
  16. the other car supposedly runs a top of the line GZ Plutonium SPL 18" - that's 4" coil and a TC 4k based design I assume... he has tested a DC neo 18 and got 158.4 iirc
