  1. I was wondering if you've tested th sax1200d, I'm putting it to 2-sa12's...

IIRC it did rated power with a rise to 2 ohms, or something along those lines. It was in a thread a while back, possibly the thread Jacob started when it first came out.

Edit: I found the thread. Here's Jacob's quote:

Two Stinger SPV-70 Batteries / 40-amp Power Supply / 8 awg wire power and Ground (this amp should have 4 awg)

Wired to 1 ohm nominal :

    1170 Watts @ 12.5 volts

    1.97 ohms after impedance rise

Wired to 0.5 ohm nominal :

    1490 Watts @ 11.1 volts

    0.85 ohms after impedance rise

    ---

Measured with my Extech True RMS power clamp meter several seconds into the tone @ 60 Hz -- this typically reads about ~15-16% less than a "dual peak hold" amp clamp test.

We'll do some more testing with a more adequate power wire coming up soon. The test bench 4 awg has the ends tinned so is a bit too big to go into the SAX-1200D terminals -- will need to get it in a vehicle.

  2. I wonder how many people on here actually know and understand PR's I know I have no clue how to tune them ( I know you add weight but not how much)

I think I remember Dave @ PSI saying that the easiest way is just by testing. You just use test tones one by one. Whichever tone the sub moves the least and the PR moves the most is your tuning. Add more weight to lower tuning and remove to raise it (I think).

I'd like to try them but it's a fair amount of added cost.

  3. Why do you need so much port area? If you're using aeroports you don't necessarily need the 12-16 that people usually recommend. In my buddy's 1.7 cube box for his SA12 we used a single 4 inch (which is a little over 12 sq in of port) and he doesn't have any port noise or anything.

You could probably use 2 6 inch ports and that would be around 56 sq in of port, which is over 10 sq in per cube.

  4. where can i find one?

Nowhere now, they're backordered. You can look for a used one or wait until more come in.

Another nice thing about running the VCs in series is you don't have to cram two sets of speaker wire in one terminal. :good:

Also, Jacob from Sundown still has a few used amps that he's selling. He has 1 saz3000d and 2 saz3500d in stock still. They are used but have a 1 year warranty and are cheaper than normal.
