Sundown Amp Clamp Tests
R_Mac_1 replied to sundownz's topic in Sundown Audio - GREAT Amps/Subs! GREAT Customer Service!
IIRC it did rated power with a rise to 2 ohms, or something along those lines. It was in a thread a while back, possibly the thread Jacob started when it first came out. Edit: I found the thread. Here's Jacob's quote: -
DC Audio VS Ascendant Audio
R_Mac_1 replied to tsuch20's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
Whichever one is installed properly will be loudest. -
I think I remember Dave @ PSI saying that the easiest way is just by testing. You just use test tones one by one. Whichever tone the sub moves the least and the PR moves the most is your tuning. Add more weight to lower tuning and remove to raise it (I think). I'd like to try them but it's a fair amount of added cost.
-
PSI also sells PRs at fixmyspeaker.com . Just have to shell out about another 100 bucks. I think if you get a PR you are supposed to use more cone area than your sub has...but the nice thing is it keeps the box size very small.

SA-15 would be my first thought. Also the AudioQue SDC2.5 15 would be even cheaper.

Good news & bad news
R_Mac_1 replied to iceman1575's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
I remember hearing a lot of bad stuff about AAMCO. Just sayin... -
Why do you need so much port area? If you're using aeroports you don't necessarily need the 12-16 that people usually recommend. In my buddy's 1.7 cube box for his SA12 we used a single 4 inch (which is a little over 12 sq in of port) and he doesn't have any port noise or anything. You could probably use 2 6 inch ports and that would be around 56 sq in of port, which is over 10 sq in per cube.
-
No, the radius of a 6" port is 3". 3 x 3 x 3.14 = 28.26 sq. in. You were using diameter.

You can get them grilled instead of fried if you're worried about the grease. -

Squeaky Jordans
R_Mac_1 replied to meade916's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
I've only had one pair of Jordans, which were fakes. They never squeaked, though. I think they are Jordan 11. My current pair of Nikes are the most comfortable Nikes I've had (more comfortable than my Shox, which I thought were comfortable). Right now I have the Nike Air Max 2009. -
SMALL sub setup?

Who loves BBQ!!!
R_Mac_1 replied to Gingeriffik's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
Agreed on above statements. Cooking burgers/brats/steaks/chicken etc. over direct heat = grilling Cooking using indirect heat/smoking = barbecuing. Not a huge deal, but I hear/see it from time to time and it's gets a bit annoying. Kind of like when people say "I could care less," which makes no sense. -
Puuurdy.

The amp is rated at 1500 watts at 1 ohm (in reality it does more than this). It can be ran under 1 ohm as well, but will void the warranty (if it still has one) and may will require more electrical upgrades.
-
Nowhere now, they're backordered. You can look for a used one or wait until more come in. Another nice thing about running the VCs in series is you don't have to cram two sets of speaker wire in one terminal. Also, Jacob from Sundown still has a few used amps that he's selling. He has 1 saz3000d and 2 saz3500d in stock still. They are used but have a 1 year warranty and are cheaper than normal.

That was totally awesome.
