  1. oh the one i was lookin at just had the steering wheel controls. got a company and part number that i can use as a reference?
  2. was it an adapter to the stock wiring harness? cause i was looking at one where it would allow the stock steering wheel controls to work with an aftermarket head unit
  3. sooooooo i come on here a few years ago had some false hopes and finally had a system in my precious escort easy wiring simple sh*t right? well it broke down left me stranded 3 hours from my house 2 scratch off big win tickets and some 1500 bucks later i picked up this lovely cadillac deville its a 2000 with the bose audio system. nice car but a BITCH to deal with in wiring i wanted to run a line out converter and had my old set up all hooked up and ready to go but all n all... nothing no sound nadda.... the main thing is that im stumped over this wiring i got all this mess and some of it is wires ran to the individual amps to the speakers and some go to the speakers and a few are for the steering wheel controls i bought a head unit for it. considering as i was uninstalling my previous one from my escort i popped something inside and it didnt work... anyways... really to sum all this b/s up im lookin for someone who has dealt with an 2000-05 deville dhs or dts whatever. and was wondering what yall ran into and how yall got your head unit hooked up. im not going double din till christmas time when i get serious with the project. i got a single din set up and ready to go just cant seem to get the wires to match anything regardless of how i wiring it. been using this wiring diagram (http://www.modifiedlife.com/2000-cadillac-deville-car-stereo-wiring-diagram/) but nuttin seems to match due to multiple wires being the same color. but ye i do love this car and all but im startin to think that this car is becoming more of a pain to get some beat in than what its worth and ive had many failed attempts for a while after wiring a loc for my set up and not having any sound come out but anyways whos able to help me with the wiring i need to know 3 things -the steering wheel control wires -the amplifier wires on this car -the +/- speaker wires i know its a bunch to ask and im sorry for making you read all this but ya know. im kinda desperate and kinda explained it all at once. i do know what i'll be running and how my set up will be... i think once i get this head unit in everything else should be a breeze.... i think.... i hope. lol
  4. been debating if i should or not. i mean the car's perfect for it. my other option was just to strip the hatch and make it one big box take out the back rest of the back seat and glass some backs that run into the box and have one big port in the middle with some mids on the sides. but thats when i get my second job tho. either way a wall in an escort would be pretty damn sweet tho
  5. Been a while since I posted on the forum Last time yall saw me I was askin stupid questions about sub box design etc etc But after doing some homework I've got things down for this thing Current car is a 1994 Escort LX hatch She's got 93,600 miles on the clock 5spd......... eh wait this aint about the car itself woops anyways she's got Pyle 6.5 4 way up front Pyle 6x9s in the rear Legacy LA160 4 chan 300watt amp for the speakers Im on a budget so um gettin a 1k watt amp instead of the 4k I had intended to get I got 2 Hifonics D4 12 inch subs laid out for her right now but not installed Box is gunna be built to comp spec tuned 30hz tho some slight adjustments i can get it down to the mid 20s anyways for those interested the box is 30 wide 16 high 18 deep Port is 4 wide 8 deep 14 long.... uhhh I think....... Box build is next week so keep on the look out but for now enjoy what has been going on with the car Please excuse my tremendous pics... been tryin to downsize em the best i can. if anyone has an exact size on what they need to be i'll definitely will get them down to that. heres how she sits as of today.. the rest can be seen on cardomain or on my facebook page or on my youtube channel which will all be on my sig. I had me some 2 way Boss Audio 5.25 and 5x8s REPLACEMENT SPEAKERS not what i was looking for but heck it works till i got these (subs been with me since cyber monday so thats nothing new) These are pyle 6.5 4 way speakers for the front and 6x9 8 way in the rear... here's some close ups of them these are the 6.5s Now the 6x9s Installation: these are the old Boss Audio 5.25 i mean look at the space they leave. I read the chart someone posted on here and followed it but i guess i was wrong now a comparison 6x9s installed no you're not seeing things. they are in the panels where the 5x8s go BUT it took some creativity and some patients to do so. See i was gunna cut up my privacy cover and glass a housing for them but with my sub box design that wouldnt have worked that way. Sooo I took my panels off and fit them inside just as best as i could and put the panels back on gently and carefully and bam snug fit. now if you go this route you will have some issues with the seatbelts in the rear. they wont retract by themselves because of the 6x9 but just a teenie bit on the big side they push against the belt and it makes the belt feel tight so youd have to feed it back into position. no biggie I did it cause i never use the back seat honestly and i didnt want 6x9s floppin around in the back few links for the vids this is before I got the 6x9s in my panels and talkin all this jibber jabber about cuttin up the privacy rack. then this is when i put the 6x9s in the panels then this is a high def vid and this is without the amp but the bass still is pretty heavy some more random stuff over the past few days relocated the speakers outside of my door panels and installed the amp i still cant wait till after my b-day thursday... all this b-day money and ima be startin on my box build as early as next week. but my goal for this car... start small go bigger get louder. be clearer. i want this build to be known in one way or another. i mean i dont hear of any escorts having beat especially the level that im about to put it at haha. lots of dreams and goals here. Its something ive grown on to and its an addiction
  6. I use to think JL's were good until ive talked to some of me friends i was told to stay away from kicker too cause they arent really the best quality just annoying bass i was lookin at FIs and M/A subs along wit rockford fostgate and thanks for those who attempted to help im taking notes and lookin around if i get anything going ill let yall know and put up some pics of the build
  7. well i didnt know shoot give me a break im new to this stuff i thought there was such thing as a sub and amp combo. i heard it isnt good to mix manufactures (example JL subs with a sony amp) i dont mean to like be a bug with this post. just wanting to know what everyone else thought or some help maybe. but ok...
  8. whats the best set up for 15's in a ported box? im doing an audio project for my senior project the box and everything is going into a 1997 ford expedition thanks for the help
  9. thanks for the tips ye like im now starting to think about building a series of boxes. i have a single 15" closed box already built but people now a days just want dual subs which i guess is the new trend. also what about single cab trucks and vehicles with very little trunk space... is it easier to build a box for shallow subs than it is for regular subs?
  10. Im sort of on a low budget but tryin to get the best boom for the buck. since our economy sucks and im jobless i thought if i can be good at making boxes i could have a small business in my lil town in north carolina.
  11. Ye like what im learning is way different than what im starting to work on. I'll get a build post up and let yall know whats going on and post some pics thanks for the tips guys and i'll definitely look around been doing that for years and i've seen some very nice work specially around here on the SMD site
  12. So... im new to the car audio world well sort of... i've studied blueprints of boxes that people made and what not but never fully understood anything till i took a drafting and construction tech class. the box i plan on build are for dual subs its ported the subs are 2 15" alpine type r's im running them to a 5k watt amp from Boss audio the box is going into a small suv dont know what yet but its prolly gunna be a blazer or a explorer. if anyone can give me tips on like how thick the wood should be and what material i can build my box with i'd appreciate it. if im missin anything to get help let me know i'll try to clear it up some more
  13. Hey steve you think you can give me the dimensions for that box? and would those 15s do the famous hair trick like you 'Hoe http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/hairtrick.gif
