  1. are there any advantages to the black pigment or is just for looks?

    Da Black adds beeebeeez. B)

    Just coloration of the resin.

    He mentioned it already.

doesn't change the properties of the resin (although when I used some it seemed to speed up dry time a tiny bit) other than the color which "could" be useful if you were laying a bunch of layers and sanding or cutting thru it and wanted to know how "deep" through the material you were...like a guide coat.

Other than that just looks better/already painted compared to Ugly glass yellowish brown.

  2. lOOKIN good meng.

Nice lookin base to build onto. Just gotta throw saome chopmat at it and tippy-tapp-tapp it in.

I like how the mids on the front/forward part of the door "just clear" the dash.

Great use of space there to get it all squeezed on there.

    Nice Dogloo too :P

We had one when I had my Keyshound/Germ Shepard, he loved that thing.

  3. dont worry bout there being too much air to heat up, it is sealed pretty good........its hot as a summer day in there and as you know it is POURING outside and all over the top of it. The tarp is working great........so far the chamber is a success!

oh the mixer is called a squirrel cage and it is the shit!

Yea that name rings a bell.

I might have seen it in a paint section some where too and the "resin mixer" idea wasn't on my mind so I passed on it.

I'll prolly pick one up next time.

  4. here is up to date pics since im playing the waiting game......."bake box" FTW :D

    Posted Image

    Bake chamber hells yea!

I dunno if I woulda made it that BIG, but I'm sure it'll work. Less room/space, less air to heat up.

And I am jockin that mixer tool on the drill.

I've seen one somewhere...it was prolly @ Tap plastics.

I made one of my own outta a wire clothes hanger that I bent up and put in the drill...worked like a charm but mines not as pimp lookin as dat one.

    Keep them pics comin.

  5. BAKE CHAMBER FTW!

I've been doing an "in the trunk corner" box outta glass for a buddy, and DAMN if the BAKE method doesn't work like a mo-fo! B)

I had to glass the corner so i just masked it, layed my base mat, and put my lil space heater in the trunk with the piece and used the confines of the trunk as my OVEN-works great and makes dry times a bit more like summer, but you still have lots of "play time" with ur resin b4 you bake it.

Once it was not in the trunk anymore, but still needing glass, I just made a "lil cardboard room" around it and viola!

...(it's not done yet so I aint posted it up but I will once there's enough pics to see.)

    *Edit-no threadjack intended

  6. Hoooraay for progress.

The rain is a maaad deturrent for me too so PROPs for gettin out there and making some sawdust pies.

    Nice lookin rings too.

Did you mean 3/16" left on the 6'' rings where the speaker mounts instead of 3/8" or am I trippin.

I guess it'd work either way but it looked more like a 3/16" "shelf" left on those rings.

I usually just cut a 3/4" ring and back it w/ a wider one of 1/4" glued to the back to mount the mid to.

Good to see a way to do it w/ out having to glue it up tho. Sneaky sneaky.

  7. drivingwreckless is my buddy Dave. He's actually a pretty cool guy. He is just a little weary of believing high numbers because he does SPL and knows how hard high numbers are to hit, and knows how loud high numbers really are.

    Its just a big misunderstanding.

    Really?

    I mean.....Really?

    That's your boy/buddy?

    He is "misunderstood"...?

I'm sorry dude, but anyone that says "I'm better than anyone" is a F*cking douche deluxe.

...Not even Tommy/Pipo/Mike Perillo/Frankie, etc.... The people AT THE TOP that have already proven THEY ARE THE BEST at this stuff, say that kinda thing.

And maybe he should do his homework on Steve Before he starts bashing him and putting down what he's done.

So he knows about Alan Dante....if he didn't, would he bash him too?.. and then end up eating his words?

Needs a lil more learnin before he opens his mouth about stuff he doesn't know that much about.

That and he looks/sounds/acts like an idiot in that video-why would anyone post that?

  8. Man it should roll off ur shoulder by now....makin bein hated a passtime w/ the caddy being so nuts...

The axe is always gonna hit the guy standing TALLEST first...

as they say, "if they aint hatin, you aint doin it big enough"

Keep sh*ttin on em...hell maybe you will get a chance to "give em the demo from hell" at a show and they can chew on their words while they try to dry their panties out.

I say grab another 40oz, and get busy on the doors for the pic/progress addicts :P

  9. Ok, I understand chicken has alot of money, but is he even gonna be Daily driving this, or is it just for show? In other words, can he HANDLE it DAILY like Steve can? Either way i can't wait to see the whole project done I just wanna know what it's gonna be used for in the future. Be a shame to spend all that money/work and have no plans for it.

    I'm guessing yea.

1: Did you forget Chicken's EXT? The Rezcalade? That thing does a 150db on a TL....so I'm pretty sure he would feel right at home w/ the Hoopty doing the same...just now he has another 10db to play with

2:There IS such thing as a volume knob....all you gotta do is cruise around bumpin it "nice & chill" (haha 140-150db by smd standards) until you come up on some douche with 2-12's just rockin out in his scraper....and PWN his ass.

THAT-And I'd be surprised if Steve didnt get more time behind the wheel of the HooptyLade than Chicken.

Designer at the wheel and audio controls, Owner in the passenger seat enjoying the ride... would be nice way to hit up the cruise on a weekend.

  10. Damn I wish I was on that coast. :P

Sounds like a fun box to build and some easy $$$

I'm surprised none of our (SMD) 305 boys have jumped on this one yet.

I'd say if you can't find anyone to get down on it and throw a box together for ya, Hit up amatt in his "if you want subwoofer enclosure plans, here ya go" section he likes layin out plans for folks and you could give it a shot urself.

    4-15's in an SUV....

Subs up port back or up FTW.

Inadvertent Bump for an easy project I guess.

  11. Im a little on the confused side...yes I am a noob but I've read more than a million times about mixing subs....well why are you using the rf subs as well as the fi's...wouldn't that cause cancelation, or do the 360s and careful tuning take care of that?

Yes the xovers will take care of it.

    diff subs/speakers playing diff frequencies.

Plus....havn't you ever seen a 3 way component set? smaller mid and mid don't "cancel" as long as they handle their own designated bandwidth.

Yea I know, I just wasn't sure if that would cause cancelation...Like I said, Im still on the newb side. I might pick up two or 4 8's for my doors now :) ...I really want more midbass...

  12. sounds like a fair price.

I havn't priced any recently.... I'm not a big fan of the new fosgate subs.

They might work great tho I dunno.

Seemed overpriced for what they were.

You should ask chode what he thought of em or maybe assman I know they have exp w/ em.

  13. Well I could sense the "anyone? anyone at all" as if it was comin my way, and I know I've mentioned having mine chillin....so I just had to clarify.

Thems is my babies and I aint sellin unless it's for a RIDICULOUS amount more than I paid for em. B)

I REALLY wanna run em once I get the timeto rebuild so not unless the offer is eleventy billion for mine.

I have looked around just in case I could pick up another 2 and run 6 12's...but no luck.

I find 10's here and there...some like ours w/ the older silver face and baskets some are audiopulses w/ the blue look but again only in 10".

    12's are hard to find.

Good luck bro and I'LL def let you know if I find any that I'm not after.
