Like I said "ghost"....or maybe :shiftyph34r:

David's right there is a special "Ford" deck removal tool.
It is not exp$ and avail at your local autoparts or audio shop.
It's actually 2 parts, they are steel "hooks" in the shape of a "U" w/ "prongs" @ the ends. They insert into those 4 holes (2 on each side of the deck/dash) and "lock" into the deck housing. They will serve as "handles" to pull the whole assembly out.
hope that helps.
If not post any more Q's u may have.

Nice vids of the ext man.
That thing is some of your best work, if not the BEST, IMO.
Exactly how I'd do an EXT.
Is that the elusive Chicken in the 2nd vid?
He must not "like to draw a crowd" the way he was babying the knob
That guys the most famous "ghost" ever.

Agreed.
I try damn hard not to "brand hate", but this is gonna be a resounding NO WAY, on buying dual ANYTHING.
I work in an autoparts shop and folks come in and ask "Do you carry decks?"
I glance at my selection of jensen/Rampage/and DUAL, and reply "KINDA".
I'm sorry to say so but it REALLY is low end stuff and only something I'd put in a car going to a wrecker/donation/or selling to a person I did not like. The few times I have sold them they have failed horribly and either ended in returns or just straight throw aways and the old "I told ya so" from me when that customer comes back to ask about ME personally hooking them up w/ a namebrand deck.
You don't want to cut corners on a SOURCE unit like your deck, ESPECIALLY if you're going to invest in MORE equipment like amps and subwoofers as you mentioned-any probs w/ the deck will just be AMPLIFIED when you get to adding AMPS/subs/etc.
Alpine/Kenwood/Pioneer: All have 1-3preout decks avail on ebay for around $100-$300 BNIB.
If you need help finding them ask away but please do not go with the DUAL. You will regret it.

Damn thats a Nice big gang of equipment.
I bet you're stoked.
Shit I was cheesin the other night when I ordered a lil o'l 6 chann line driver.
Time to get busy on the build my man.
Lets see some build pix.

I'm 25, in college. No kiddies for a LONG time if I can help it.
Need a wifey-type first.

Oh ok.
Check out Gately's site and you might see why I drew the comparison.
Bobby Gately is here in N. Cali/sac and I see in him at shows and in my shop every now and then.
He's in a few of steves vids too (shorter tatood guy)
He did the windows on Steves tahoe too.

OK-
So I kno this is a pretty old topic but I finally have some pics of this project so i figg'd better late than never.
It is a SCULPTURE.
It is ARSTY, and somewhat abstract, and I put it together in about 2-3days after work.
The "artist" said it needed to look like a person coming out of an egg yoke...but not "too good" cuz it was "her project" for a grade.
She brought me the arms and some materials and needed my Glassing skills to get it done so i left it somewhat "rough" (haha no sanding at all just mixed/poured the resin and let it find its own shape. The white is walling spackle i used as "filler". Light weight and dried quickly.
Here's some pix.
I'll see if I can get any better final pics w/ the white egg shell pieces too.
-
Are you local? (Norcal/sac?)
Setup looks like something this guy Gately (he is here but never really posts) would have done cuz he's huge into plexi/lexan.
Just curious.
Nice setup and good ###'s to boot! :w00t:

Well the Quarts reference line NOW is only their second best. its Discus, Reference, Premium,Q line. I don't think its the likw the quarts of yesterday. The crossovers look like the musicomps, (clear cover) but they say reference on them.
Yea Quart stuff is always at least Ok/good but the Q line is what it's about nowadays for sure.
I put some in my buddies MKIV Supra-Reference components up front and discus 2way rears.
The Xovers on the refs are made to "emulate" the look of the musicomps but the guts are sadly different and I noticed it in the supra. Still damn fine mids but "fine lines" are what High end sound Q is all about so it's noticeble.
I bet those 15w6's are pretty nice too.
Nice choice on products.
-
Some very nice equipment too.
I have Quart 5 1/4's as well and love em.
Which set u have? And with/w/out musicomp x overs? They make a huge diff IMO.
-
You think those would function properly in 3cubes each?
I've never had/run RE subs so i dunno how air hungry they are but kinda makes me go hmmmmmm. :shiftyph34r:
-
fuckin super clean ....no emblems, no bullshit just clean....the way i like it. One of the NICEST birds ive ever seen. Welcome to my forum bro. ;D
X2
Quite nice.
Very clean in the trunk.
Your handywork? Or shop built? If so which one?
Could you list the components please? (subs/amps/source/mids etc)
I see the Zapco's but knowing how HUGE the rear deck i'm curious whats in there under the nice fibered up cover :shiftyph34r:
Under-Hood work looks awsome. My buddy wants me to make him something similar for his Z.
Welcome to SMD.

I already offered my warning label on this one a long time ago.
...Should add "Head gear required".
Hard hat, ear protection, and a respirator. :construction:
And make sure that "O-SHIT" Bar is good and secure.
(maybe scotch gaurd that passenger seat too )

It could very well be due to cold.
If you can get the vehicle started and drive it to an autoparts shop (Like AUTOZONE perhaps) they can LOAD test it and find out if it's good/bad.
Other than that, maybe upgrade to a battery w/ more COLD CRANKING AMPS. More ability to crank in low temps.
Also make sure the battery in the vehicle has as many or more CCA's than the stock batt. Lots of times folks will go the cheap route and not even have a battery in there as good as the stock one, underrpowered for the vehicle, AND THEN start dumpin more electrical strain on it by adding a system.
-
Yea that is prolly the least amount of "MOD" work.
Look in the build i posted in the member/show off section of the 90 Z32.
There's only one pic of it but it shows the mdf "bracket" I made on that one in a hurry and it worked perfectly. Uses the same mounting holes and hardware.
<--Being Lazy.
Right here:

BTW that one is a 5 1/4"comp set and there's room for the tweet & xover w/ door panel clearence in that position. You might have to relocate the xover.
-
Pre-drills and PAN head screws do ok for me.
-
You can fit just about any 5 1/4" comp set in them lil boxes and w/ some creativity some 6's for sure. Like I said lemme know what ur workin with and I'll help ya fit em depth wise. I've done them lil pods both ways: modding em for after market mids 5 1/4-6" and deleting the box altogether and making a bracket to house 5 1/4 comps and up, w/e u want. Both are fairly staright forward.
-
Yes they will ;D , audioque is built from the same buildhouse as digital designs, thats if you didn't know. They compared the hd3 to the dd 95 at one time, the hd3 was able to keep up with the 95 at 3k, but at over 3k the dd 95 performed better. So I know for a fact it can handle 3krms. Hearing it from the owner himself is also another thing.
Hey as long they say it they gotta warrenty it when it roasts.
No worries.
Push it. get the 150 and send em in for warrenty.
:whistling:

ok imagine this:
You're Steve Meade. Awsome I know, but settle down it's just a hypothetical.
You own a Chvy Tahoe w/ 4-Fi BTL 18's & 21,000 Watts rms.
Is 40% of ANY stock alternator gonna be enough/ok?
Dont think so.
Thus, blanket rules like that aren't gonna fly EVER. (leave it to ROE)
You gotta "Fight the demons" in YOUR SPECIFIC setup.
If you have mucho dimming, you need mucho electrical reinforcement.
Thus, regardless of "the rules go..." statements, just build it up till ur outdoing your electrical draw and there you go.
~2more cents.

Jeez,
the things you (I) miss in the H/U dept when the SQ guys get to chattin.
Welcome aboard Slick and nice lookin setup there.
X2 on the build pics.
Clearence looks SCARY under the brake pedal over those Ed's in the kicks but I guess if you got that far it must work for ya.
Paint? or powdercoat on the Soundstreams? Either way looks ded sexy.
Dash looks very well done.
Idmax makes baby jesus smile BTW. ;D
All around nice job.
-
Nice truck & setup man.
What are you gonna cover that Humongous box in?
Good luck on the 150 too.
-
I have modded those BOSE boxes/pods inthe front foors on my buddies cars on more than one occasison and kno a trick or 2 if ur handy/decent @ cut/chop/rebuild type stuff.
Let me kno if you get stuck on those I'd be happy to help and I have pics avail as examples.
If you can post which pods you have that'd help too as I have worked on a few Nissan 90-94 300zx's (z32's) and I'm thinkin the pods are the same but ya never know for sure.
In case no one's welcomed you yet, welcome to SMD.
