  1. HOLY SHNYKEEES David!

I dint even waste any time on that site past the 1st page cuz even the lil thumbnails looked jenky, but that place is a treasure trove of pics I could use to fill up my "SHAME" FOLDER on how not to install.

Jebus! I did a door panel like that. My very 1st one in 7th grade, 1stt ime i ever touched vinyl...and I trashed it and started over. WOW.

Dope shop, as long as they don't touch ur car or try to install anything in it.

  2. I just can't bring myself to KILL any old setups. Worst case I'll sell em and if I cant i'll donate or they turn into furniture/storage units.

BTW-GOOD LORD! Check out the 6th pic up there^^^ after the initial post.

That POOR LIL BLUE MILK CRATE IS GETTIN PWNed by tha magnet on the MT.

    Got sag? HAHAHAHA.

Nice work/##'s as usual Steve. Kinda sad the box got the axe. Hopefully they couldn't demolish it at the dump and some homeless guy and his dog are livin it and thankin their lucky stars for a basshead named Steve Meade. (New eBay market: High Strength/ Waterproof mini-dwellings/dog houses)

  3. Wash, wax, vaccum, detail & clean the plexi & such. About 2hrs if I have that much time. W/E possible I'll do it the night b4 since it sleeps in the garage, and just roll out the next day feelin all shiny and sexified.

I swear it RUNS better when it's clean.

During the summer I wash and wax it every weekend. Cali summers are THE BEST IMO.

you also feel better ridin clean. like you're on top of the world

Yea gotta love makin that intro in a shiny ride.

I either Jus cruise in w/ the beat off and catch folks off guard in the qualifying rounds or just HAMMER it all way into the show and find my chill spot to wait for quals to start.

  4. Well,

I think until we have a HOME audio setup class, and Steve/Chicken can OWN ALL OUR ASSES, it should be limited 1: An automobile 2: It must run (no front-lawn-boom-box-mobile on blocks) 3: Must consist of a "moderate to high amount" of AFTERMARKET audio goodies (No "My BMW 745 has a nice stereo already"..-newcents  (although we know he'd never say that, just an ex.) 4: I don't know how you guys feel about it but CUSTOM is the name of the game in my book, so I would exclude prefab boxes, and only MAYBE allow Qlogic pods-thats up to yall.

    ~2cents.

  5. Yea SORRY.

I'll retract that "poser comment". I read the other thread right after and was like OH ok I guess if it's a matter of functionality that's kosher. I guess it's true also you can do with ur subs what you want once you've purchased them, but I AM, as I suspect Forevrbumpn to be as well, A SUB PURIST.

In my mind, you pick the subs you want based on performance/look, and any/all other components of the ownersip (warrenty, stereotypes, and FLACK for having a "yuppy brand" or "no name" brand in some cases) and you stick by your decision or sell em/ re-purchase.

I KNOW HE DID IT OUT OF NECESSITY NOW, but at first I thought it was a choice based solely on aesthetics and in my book that's a form of audio sacrilage to deface a sub w/ another company's logo or other material to hide the real company's logo, whether they object or not.

The one time I thought it even LOOKED ok was that setup in the Caddy someone posted w/ the RE subs w/ the caddy logo on em. That looked kinda pimp actually.

Again-***PUBLIC APOLOGY FOR THE POSER REMARK.***

  6. Hey bro, just a heads up, thats pretty illegal to do the dome thing. I know people at both companies, mainly the AA side, and if they seen the Fi domes on the AA subs, they would go ballistic.... Just thought id post that, you can delete this after reading it... But The AA subs are definitley Niceeeee subs, I know first hand   ;-)

Who gives a shit! It's his stuff, he can do whatever he wants with it.

    Nice window flex btw :D

I'm pretty sure He was just trying to give the heads up that the company might not like you modding their product to look like a different company's stuff. I don't know if they would have LEGAL recourse but If so he's just saying "hey here's how not to get SUE'd By that company" if they could. Not hating on ur stuff.

    That said:

Personally I HAVE NO IDEA why you would put different dust caps on them in the first place. If you REALLY wanted Fi's, why not sell ur AA's and get some Fi's? Or just roll them AA's as is. They're good subs as ur vids sho they're tryin to rip ur ride apart (nice) and they should get credit for that.

The dust cap thing just seems like a poser move to me IMO.

  7. Phantom...as in RR.

    Nice Hoe bro.

Tonns of POtential there for sure.

    X2 On some dub+'s.

Drop it  or bagg it :red_bandana:

EEEEWWW on the Euro tails. SRRY just not a fan...its not a euro/import.

Kicker YAY...but good luck gettin much props for 2-12's (unless they're Fi, TRF, or RE) in that big of a vehicle. The fact it's ported will help (decent lookin box BUILD btw, just needs some covering paint/carpet/w/e).

I have 4-cvr 12's sealed in a hatch and can't touch 150 on a TL but that's why we rebuild

X2 On the 15's idea, I'd say 4 would get loud in there and folks round here (SMD) got your back on design for sure.

Wish I had one as a project.

  8. Not to rain on ur parade...but I'm pretty sure pornstar was mocking sayar. It's sarcasm. Like when he says "my hero sayar".

And if you check out the Pornstars build on ROE (about 46pg build/rebuild log) it ends up w/ him doing almost 160db w/ 1-18 & 2 Autotek 4kw's I believe, then he gets an "unofficial" 160 w/ 2-18's in his build in that minitruck.

I never talked to either Sayar or Pornstar but sayar looks/sounds like a nerdy nutsack in all his vids and his setup sure looks pretty hoaky.

I would NOT put the 2 in the same sentence tho build/talent wise. Pornstars work looks legit. Team maxxonics I'm pretty sure.

  9. They actually vary quite a bit.

I've seen Iraggi offers some that are different series like Amputator vs Doominator series and they my both be 200amp but one does 75amp @ idle and the other does 175amp @ idle.

I would assume the 175amp @ idle would be either MUCH tighter wound or just involve a different VOLTAGE REGULATOR (be it internal or external).

If you have Q's on it and want some professional help, email Dom Iraggi. I'm sure he could let ya know the ins and outs and recommend the bst scenario based on tonns of experience.

I am saving up for an Iraggi unit myself.

  10. I think wattage is not so realavent,

I'd make the catagories more like best use of space available.

    "Best use of an SUV"

Loudest hatch/P-UP truck (non cut thrus)

Put folks against similar vehicle or space & parts constraints like trunk car/hatch/suv/van and break it up that way.

I can put 10K watts on 2-18's in a hatch and do the electrical right, or I can throw the same in an suv or van and since the air ur compressing is way less in the hatch it's lopsided, one will likely be way louder even w/ the same equipment.

So I say break it up either by woofer size/count/Sd or Vehicle.

  11. Welcome aboard.

I would recommend an Epic-160 as an option. Which of the choices will unlitmately fit ur setup BEST is ur call oviously based on what parts you go with but I have an Epic and I love it. Esp. if you wanna tune for "max output" on a mic w/ out having to use a laptop/TermLab mic as cost a bit more than an epic and it will find youre peak or sweet spot just the same, just w/ out all the fancy bells and whistles and freq info yadda yadda.

BTls would be great choice as they are proven in the trenches. I'm well aware that Audioque has some aswome subs too (2-10's doing around 150 from the trunk of a neon is pretty impressive) but I don't know for sure if they can take abuse as well as a BTL.

RF power series amps, no brainer GONZO power, and the electrical you mentioned sounds sufficient as long as you stick to one BIG sub amp and dont double up. If so you might need a lil more reinforcement.

Great plans so far i'd say.

  12. If your're driving both subs w/ the same output i.e. a monoblock or bridged 2 channel it doesn't matter. Only if you're runnig sep amps/channels to each sub, then you SHOULD divide them. Some folks say you gain a lil bit in compound loaded boxes/common chamber doe to some kinda of pressure coupling hoopla that is physics beyond my understanding so i just use the channel division rule and no probs w/ that.

As far as box design I'm pretty much right w/ the guys on this one.

Hatch/CRX hybrid cabin? =hatch/CRX hybrid box design.

I point the subs as directly at the glass as possible to increase refraction/deflection of waves off a pretty inert material like glass rather than have the wave directly impact the softer/more flexible interior panels of the trunk and lose/dissipate some energy w/ that flex (flex=loss of energy). So w/ subs pointing kinda diagonally up at the glass, I'd try to set my port kinda like the one on Big J's burban how it's very Low on the back side of the box and firing straight rearward.

I think you could further the "funnel effect of THAT setup by mounting your amp/s at an angle against the rear wall of the trunk/hatch to slope upward and guide the wave up into the interior cabin along the roof/cieling just like Meade's Resin 45's in his boxes. Think of the hatch AS the box and make it the same shape or close to what you would the inside of a box to maximize transfer of energy from box/woofer to occupants/mic up front.

I like Tc's personally I wish I had one to work on.

  13. I'd like to add this:

Not to call out any local shops, here in norcal, especially not the one that sounds like Manthony's C.A., but they have got to the point that they will not EVEN give a quote over the phone, even if you say "I am on my way and need to know how much $$$ to bring!!"

It's like written quotes get shredded the second after you read them so that  "...no one else will come in here demanding the same "hookup" I give you!" it's like top secret price favoritsm base don how buddy-buddy you are w/ the dealers, when generally they take a $200 item, tell you msrp is $500 cuz it's "brand new top of the line"..."but if you do it right now" so we make sales for the day, you get "hooked up" this one time...for only $250.

Dude thinks he got hooked up and is taken for an extra $50.

Just sayin ARM yourself w/ the real msrp info and Definately shop around.

    2X msrp? that's pretty bad/extreme, & sad.

"Knowledge is power, experience is powerful"

    End rant.

  14. HAHA I was kinda trying to lay that out there subtle like.

HAHA, good sheeit mayne...Need a seperate generator for the garage/lounge/retreat area/install bay. I have essentially given up on "pushing it" out there. As long as I have a buncha light, and a battery powered boombox I'm straight. Bundled up w/ no heat and using my little current supply sparingly (one tool at a time haha).

After rewiring that wall socket into the 20th century i aint takin any chances w/ it.

Nice vids tho and yea I did catch the lil dimmin and figg'd that was the cause for the "sparing use" of the gain knob.
