i feel there should be a giveaway for the q's......
I dunno about a GIVE away but surely a smd hookup i'd think. hehe.
I actually been waiting for a good time to ask and I guess it finallyt comes up now:
Steve, What do you do w/ you left overs? In your particular case, it must not be too hard to RE-SELL ur old stuff for example the box from ur Tahoe for the 2 18's, seeing as how much publicity YOUR stuff gets and how easy to sell an SUV box is...or is it? And, given your connection to Chicken, and his tendencey to want to GO BIGGER before he even hears it, what do you do with the left over Q's, the old boxes, and lets say THOSE 9500 SEREIS MTX subs from Chickens EXT? Did you just ebay it all?
Just curious. I'm still on the prowl for a buyer for "the buttbox" outta my car, and other random left overs.

A "few 12's"....

I'm pretty sure you're mature enough to not get BUTT-hurt by me saying this: But I think allotta folks would agree: you just may fall into the A-hole catagory.
But it's ok, Cuz I'mma Dick.

Rosemont. Near rancho.
I'm sure if Steve, kingsuv, or you rolled thru folks would be TRIPPIN.
Folks aint used to a real setup, just some lil jenk systems. And then mine (whatever u consider it)

Damn dude that's terrible.
Glad to hear ur Pops is alive after that much damage/carnage to the truck. I see they had to cut the windsheild out to extract, thats some scary shit I'm sure even just watching them cut the glass out let alone after it gets smashed into & rolled like that. I would bet "45mph" is what she told the cops, but THAT intersection, 2:30am, and throw a pickup down the road like that, I'm betting she was rollin thru PRETTY DAMN QUICK. I Hope for a full & speedy recovery for him. I would be BEYOND HEATED if some lady rolled my pops's car downd the road cuz she was too tired/ not paying enough attn. Again let your old man kno we're all pullin for em and wishin a speedy recovery on him...as well as some not so nice KARMA on siad douche bag lady.

Ok so no points for me on the custom vs "way new" guess...i guess. But I did say either that or sumpin custom .
I knew for sure they weren't in Alma's Bronco.
Serves me right for not being up on my "who went to/won national level comps" trivia.

"...[glow=red,2,300]the end result is gunna show ur buddy that a sealed/ported box built right is no comparson to the bucket, end of story [/glow]"
Be careful w/ those kinda statements. Like I said ANYTHING is possible.
Ruling out ANYTHING as possible/impossible only comes from proving it.
I sense a whole new can of worms opening as I type this.

It's possible.
Just about ANYTHING is possible. (just about)
Assuming: YOU know how to build an enclosure @ all (not saying you can't but there are people that assume it's a lot easier than it is), and assuming you have a sound understanding of what it takes to make a "loud enclosure" (to the ear/mic) either you or your friend has a chance in this bet. You could build an awsome wood box and he could just glue a baffle in that bucket and you would make him look pretty silly and take his $5.
On the other hand, Tube style boxes ahve been used, and used WELL some in HIGH output setups like That pioneer truck mentioned, as well as in prefab subwoofer tubes sold all over. The key in either design....is DESIGN and knowing what's up w/ how a box works or doesn't work. If you limit ur buddy to only modifying the INSIDE of the bucket, everything he does to brace it will cut into his airspace. If he can maintain his airspace by modding the outside of the bucket and reinforce it that way he may have a shot.
To say "what will win" is another one of those "what would be louder: a 12 or a 15?" type Q's that has no answer since there are WAAY too many variables involved. W/ out even seeing your/his finished product any "guessing" by "pro's" isn't gonna get you any closer to knowing. So just go build ur setup and take pix. @ best, the nice folks on here (SMD) might help w/ YOUR design so it'll be as loud as possible and just hope ur buddy 1:Doesn't do the same 2: Have Steve,Ray, or GroundPounder build HIS setup, 3: know more than you about makin a LOUD box.
(My attempt to say what needed w/ out being a total A-HOLE)

Ya I spose that too :sarcasm:
I've never had any use for a too part epoxy or anything that had to be mixed in that large quantity/tube style. Fiberglass/bondo/resin and that type of stuff usually gets it done for me. I also have never had any luck w/ 2 part epoxy that is built in a "sarynge style tube" and mixes as it comes out. I sell em in the adhesives section at AutoZone and from my expeience they NEVER work right. Anybody got any they have tried and like? BTW I'm pretty sure ours are all PERMATEX, maybe thats the problem right there?

YAAAAAAAAAYYYY!
Another Gen3 Integra!
Welcome aboard.
If that don't work out I have a custom box w/ amp rack for 2-15's for sale. One pic in the for sale section and more in the build log for my car in the member/show off section.
Good luck w/ that setup- box looks ginormous :w00t:.

That sub is essentially a Fosgate HX2 (non power series) and it will be BEST SUITED for a ported box. The basket and cone are diff for copyright reasons but the other specs should be same or close. Build it to Fosgate HX2 specs or get the info from the LA site/tech support.

2 tubes=More caulk!
&....DATSALOTTACAULK!
I got no use for a double whammy like that, but it seems like one of them Tim-The-ToolMan-Taylor type tool upgrades to get 'er done quicker.
Chicks dig a lotta caulk.

Well, the kickers are RACK MOUNTs, and as long as I've been alive, I never seen any kicker rack mount amps, so i'd say either a custom dealio...or brand spankin new and they gonna be like Audiobahns Rack mount amps. I doubt the custom, prolly just waaay new.

DUDE!
Ok-I think I'm the LAST one to call someone out for being slow/childish/or [glow=red,2,300]POSSIBLY DOUBLE POSTING TO INCRERASE THEIR POST COUNT, but... [/glow]

well since your azn... why not a samerai sword?
LAWL
that was good
but why not something alittle more sensible like throwing stars or nun chucks
It's pronounced "Nunchuku".
Maybe I should post pics in the FS section?
HAHAHAHAHA.
<---Some by each door, even out in the garage next to the billy club and tee-ball bats.

HMMM, things that make a deck sub output go bad:
TIME, sh*tty company like Dual or Sony explode, Murphey's Law, the planets being in line on a friday, or anytime a "friend" brings you a setup to build, fix, or "upgrade".

I'd have to check on a shipped price depending on the destination, but maybe this is like what you're lookin for.
I have a few sealed ones too. I'll post soon.

OR maybe some Young jeezy, Dru down, or E-40 :watsup:Wow. Those are amazing would be badass to hear those. I cant even imagine.
definently... [glow=red,2,300]metallica, pantera or any good metal artists [/glow] should sound amazing with that setup...
Great work as usual steve. Still the man in the trunk or the living room. I (we all) can't wait for the house flex vids. Gonna have to epoxy everything in place...OR MAYBE INVEST IN SOME NEO MAGNET STOCK. Put them lil buggers on the coffee table feet and floor,..hell maybe just a sheet of metal under the floor and neo mag up everything in that house, hahaha.
<--Would need neo-mag boots.

Welcome to the forum
Way to get started early, I think thats key in DIY audio. I started in Jr High building my older bro's setups and for his friends too. Need lots of time & experience before you really know whatsup. Even the most veteren guys on here, I know I've heard it from Steve, will tell ya you learn sumpin new everytime.
-
I dont personally use any. If you build the bottom mould/tub strong enough before you try to pull it, it'll withstand a whole lotta pullin. I always have a mdf section to pull on like the outer ring i'm glassin to usually.
However, "release agents"= PAM (non stick spray for cooking), PVA (silicone based I believe), White lithium (thats pretty thick so spray some then paint it around to stretch and thin it out over the trunk/area) or silicon spray=same. Teflon spray also.
Hope that helps.
Search PVA Spray on yahoo or google.

Thanx for helpin me make my point...
YOU aren't makin the box/bucket. It's between THOSE TWO^^.
If you say you've done it b4, thats cool. No sarcasm, disrespect or hatin here, maybe it was dope I never saw the one YOU made.
The BIGGEST variable i'm tryin to point out here...is that the guy posing the question/makin the thread is one of the "competing box builders".
The end result will be determined not by your ability or mine to prove it's POSSIBLE, but which of those 2 is a better box builder/knows more about the matter and CAN APPLY IT-HANDS ON. My brother knows A LOT about audio-being he is a major retailer and knows his products, but he couldnt build a box to save his life and doens't think it's "that hard" or "a big deal" to be able to.
Good luck to the guys building the box/bucket.
Hope no one's butt hurt by that but I think that^^ is the main thing to consider.
