  1. Couple options....all depend on how "badly"you want HIDs.

buy "the coolest" ones you can find for w/e yr....and just cut the area as large/small as you need it to accomodate the larger/smaller housing and then Fiber Glass them in...that'd be a fun project.

In ANY case make sure you incorperate a PROJECTOR so the cuttoff is correct.

Either an aftermarket set for a new ford like this

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-04-FORD-...A1%7C240%3A1318

Or buy JUST the projector and hack up an old set of stocks to retro fit the projector in that housing.

Buy a newer yr "stock" set that has projectors and glass them in.

lord knows you got the tech support here to git er done if u were hesitant.

  2. no i put it like that because my trunk is made like a upside down "T" damn do you really have to be that sarcastic

meh if I dint say it, James prolly woulda.

And i just some one ask how much airspace you had, and you put up the L X W X H...but I wouldn't trust someone who couldnt do the math... to measure accurately eaither.

    pics would help

    exactly.

  3. rebuild the box. 20% product, 80% install. if it's just 'something' you dont like, a rebuild could make it just something you love. what sounds good in one box might not sound good in another. and vice versa

    Agreed....

    *agreed*

    damnit beat me to it...

    x3

    -Drew

    f*ckin hell...words outta my mouth...

    its going in a caprice

i dont want to make a wall i want to keep everything in the trunk

    chea...good luck with THAT...

probably dont like them because your trying to shoehorn to much into a space to small.

    Well put...16cubes+ homie

    no heres my measurements...

    height..16.5"

    overall width....70"

    wall to inside wheel 13"

    inside wheel....46"

    depth to wheel 25"

    depth inside wheel 30.5"

    Multiplication? Division? too difficult?

nah they suck sell them to me...........please pm price shipped to 96782 hawaii......all 4 thaks....

HAHA my THOUGHT exactly....until I read the next one.....*makes sad face*

well i let a few guys hear them to get different opinions about them and the voice coils are messed up so i talked to the that sold them to me and he going to give my money back later today

Baaaahhhhh! @ least u gettin ur $$ back...I'd say buy the same subs...but only 2-3 of em BNIB and build a proper box for em...or have someone who knows how build it.

  4. WOW as long as it's all lightweight in here...

I'm drinkin protien shake after hittin the gym hard and lottsa water to hydrate.

Tryin get back in shape by new yrs.

But if I was drinkin, it'd be Herradura Tequila (BETTER than Patron IMO)...&coke.

-fill a glass bout 1/2-3/4 way with ice cubes, pour in tequila to the top of the ice, fill the rest with coca-cola..not diet coke, not pepsi or any other craap, just reg normal coke.

keeps me nice and unproductive on my days off haha.

  5. haha Yeah..way to much work for a mount. I did the ole' velcro to the inner fender and that's it. Those are super blue though..mine look somewhat the same and never had problems with cops around here. I know somebody that makes carbon fiber ballast boxes..might have to pick me up a pair.

    I would make my own.

I was actually thinkin that when I do make my splash shields I'd CF overlay em.

  6. those hid's are like some mass produced chinese ballasts that different companies slap their own stickers on and sell it in a kit with harness and bulb

we had a huge stack of those we sold one weekend at like 80$ a pop, put both high and low beam into my car, looks great, bright as hell, and no problems in a year and some, i just pulled my headlights out and screwed the ballast mounts to the frame rail underneath, so everything is hidden, and then ziptied the harnesses all together

word of caution, the oval connector that clips to the stock harness pulls out sometimes, put a ziptie around it to keep it snug (like between the two wires, around the plug, through the other two wires, and then zip it tight)

Yea I inspected the hell out them b4 I hooked em up, and I know what ur talkin bout-the plastic clip that retains that plug is "produced" or "machined" pretty shitty and i had to use a small flathead to lift the "teeth" to get them to seat, but the flaw in this case is actually reversed, it's hard as shit to get them IN, but once that plug is in you better want it there for a long time cuz gettin it apart is no joke...at least not w/ out just shredding/snapping the plastic.

In one of those pics you can see the 2-9006 plugs that come with the kit...the one on the right is all grey while the left one is nice and shiny black...thats because I had to sand them both down to get them to fit into the OEM connector...suuuper tight fit and I sanded them bishes quite a bit.

I figure the more help I give this cheapo lil kit the longer it might last and thus far they are doing exactly what they're sposed to.

  7. Offfff topic much?

Them seats look smooth as hell Steve. And the dash is cleeeeeeaaan.

This interior is really startin to take shape and brings back memories of stuff I used to see in CA&E and similar "best/newest thing in audio" mags....and wondering "how much work went into all that" and how it got from raw materials to look like it came like that from factory.

Keep it up bro, it's def some on another level sh*t.

    Chicken is a lucky dood.

  8. I dunno, you edited the post sometime ago, theres really nothing there now..

Just bummed about the zipties after all that work went into them. At least paint them black, or get black zipties.

As steve would say, pay attention to detail, because you will always know its there, even tho no one else wold.

    It's under hood.

I have a stock motor that I aint showin off...it just has to function.

If it bothers you, seek help, I'm fine knowing its secure in there, and Like I said next thing for that area..hopefully b4 the rain comes, is a painted glassed cover so it won't be seen anyway...but I would do that more just keep water off them...even if they are water proof which I don't think they are, as the ballasts need to be grounded to keep from dying out or flickering.

  9. Hey, just giving it right back at you when you gave it to me with my hid's..

    Sucks huh?

but at least I know mine are bolted up tight, and are waterproof.. :tease: :tease: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Wow had to look/check to even know what ur talking about...I assume Ur referring post #45 on ur wall build?

I don't see any ball busting or hating there...That's just me givin you the heads up on product.

I know these are a cheaper set, but I'm runnin these cheapies for now since at $65/kit shipped, it's only about $15 more than a set of Silvania Silverstar ultras ($50/pair), which is what I usually run, and if they last a year or 2 Thats worth it for me. Also like I said my buddy has beeen running these for over a yr in his car and more than 6months in some of his friends rides with no issues...but yes they are some of the cheapest ones that I saw out there.

I was mainly going for a BLUER upgrade than the Halo brand blue/xenons I had in there (which is the orange lookin driver side light in those pics)...now I'm kinda thinkin I shoulda gone 6500K instead of 8000K cuz these are super blue. I can imagine gettin pulled for em.

Also with the grounded ballasts and 35w consumption, theres zero light dimmage.

I'm still on a stock alt. and until I get an Iraggi i'm not puttin any more batts in there to overload the stock alt.

Here's the link to the set I got: Mine are 8000K 9006 bulbs

  10. Not really impressed bro. Sorry.

I usally see a lot of workmanship out of you.

Took all that time making custom mounting brakets for no reason, but yet still use zip ties to secure the ballast.

    Looks alright I guess.

I didn't make the mounts to be "bling bling pretty"....if so i woulda painted em.

They are there to give the mounts something solid to mount to and keep them away from the moving parts and heat of the engine.

I don't really care what U think bout it.

The mounts are there for functionality, and I bedlined em to make them blend in a lil better should anyone see em, and it water proofs the MDF.

    Yup zip ties.

I took some 18ga plumers tape and wrapped it in friction tape to make black "straps" that I could put a bolt thru to sinch down in the location as the zip ties, but I realized getting em TIGHT in that minimal space would have been much more work and not any more secure than using zip ties.

If I ever want to make it "pretty" (cuz I show off my stock engine all the time..yea right) I'll change it up...but it works just fine for now.

    HI haters :wub::D:P:drinks::clapping::give_rose: :censored:

  11. My buddy with the 2004 civic 4 door...

    http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...?showtopic=8190

...has run this brand Kit relaibly in a few cars, including his civic, with no issues...so I finally decided to do it.

The only real "work" was making "mounts" or "brackets" for the ballasts since there is absolutely no damn room for them anywhere in the engine bay that doesn't subject them to maad heat or possible damage.

I know no one reads the shit I put between pics anyways...

    So here' we go:

  12. I think ur current box is whats killing your overall output and sound.

I would try a few things by modifying what you have before you rip it all out a try some more drastic measures/cost ur self more $$$.

1st: I closeup/seal off the rear firing ports and run it sealed.

If you don't like how it sounds that way...

2nd: I'd say chop up ur rear deck as much as you can and get some proper sized ports, firing through the rear deck/sealed off from the ass end/trunk, while keeping the current box with those Kickers.

3rd:If THEN you're still not happy with it, you can still go with your previous idea but at that point you have a better reference of what a few more setups sound like with minimal work, so you can compare what ur hearing (and are not happy with) to a "different" sound. It's tough to finally settle on a setup in ur ride if you have only had it one way and that was "the big leap" from zero bass...it might not be that great right now, but since it's all you've had in there, you might not realize the room for improvement...or what kinds of changes will bring about the results you're after.

The more experimenting you can do the better and that would def cost less than a whole new setup.

  13. 2 15's for a start, you'll find it much easier to fit them in the back.

I would say 2 15" BTLs but it depends how much power you can give them. Even if you glass the tirewell etc your box will probably end up sub-optimal size so you're going to want lots of power on them to get them moving enough to stay cool. Maybe 4 Alpine PDX1000.1's? Or a RF 4000wrms jobbie?

    x2.

i'd add maybe consider BL's some lower power subs if you only have 2k rms to throw around.

glass the whole ass end/hatch below windowline and you should have 8~10cft if ur lucky.
