  1. when the bass knob is disconnected i can set the gain at 39.1 no problem there, when i connect the bass knob even when its all the way down the voltage jumps in to the 70's and will not go any lower, i tryed using the amp without the bass knob and it doesnt have much bass at all, with the bass knob all the way off little to no bass when i roll it up then it starts to hit. this isnt just a 1 knob bass knob this has the frequency also. testing it today it sounded clean with the knob turned up and the frequency turned about 80 hz. its a variable 35-70Hz remote ParaPunch Bass EQ 0-18dB still a bass knob yes? just looked at the manual. could the bass knob be interfering with my meter showing false readings? its a fluke 85 multimeter.
  2. I wen't through all the calculations for my amp and it came to 39.19, so ive set the gain to exactly 39.1, i kept the dmm attached and rolled the bass knob to check the voltage and it read 85.. my question is this normal? I just want to make sure i have no clip problems. I know this is not the best way to do it but i do not have an oscope. any help would be appreciated. the amp is a t5002 fosgate 768 watts x 2= 1536 square root of 39.19
  3. on the way home today I was gettin it pretty good for prolly 20 minutes or so i did notice a smell not really bad or anything, when i got home i put ,my hand on the dustcap and it was barely warm, is it normal to have it be a little warm after playing the subs? I just wanna make sure everything is ok. i dont want to hurt my new setup.
  4. ok well it wasn't distorted at all sounded nice and clean, i was basically wondering if it could be clipping, cause of the smell, i'm going to recheck my gains.
  5. so by sharp slope that means 24db is the setting i should use? sorry i just don't know what it does.
  6. it wasn't distorted it was playing nice and clean, maybe i'm just being paranoid. could have been glue since ive never smelled coil before, i'll keep a watch on it. i'm gonna double check my gains and make sure there alright wish i had a oscope.
  7. bigpimpin: turn my beat down, i think thats what it's called.
  8. this is a used sub i bought from tristan, i don't believe he used it cause he took it on trade, but i dont know how much play time it had on it, it's pretty stiff.
  9. i did go from a sealed enclosure to a ported,i switched on the infrasonic filter on so it won't play below 28hz. Slope Switch – Used to select between a 12dB/octave Butterworth or 24dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley filter.does anyone know what this does? its on a fosgate t5002 amp.
  10. 1st full day of having the fi q 18 in and on the way home from work i was gettin it pretty good and i believe i smelled coil? is it normal to smell it when pushing 800 watts to this sub? it has the bp option aswell, even though it doesnt sound clipped would that cause it?
  11. i think its exosports calculator he has it in his sig and yes i have the newest one, i'll try again though
  12. Love it steve, that color is 100% the best choice for the hoe, they did a great job on the paint. mad props steve, congrats on both the new paint and the new shop.
  13. i put those details into exo's calculator and it doesn't come to 7.08 cubes it shows 34.95hz tuning and 7.32 net volume am i missing something? i appreciate the help.
  14. I just bought a FI Q 18" woofer from tristan on here to replace my 2, 1 year old fosgate 12's, can anyone help me with a box design for it, the sub is going in my suburban the area i have to use is 47" wide 24" deep and 22" tall i would like a ported enclosure sub up port back. can anyone give me some help please. thanks
  15. lmao rampage, that was indeed epic lol
  16. i did this recently with an intake bolt and snapped it off in the block, i used the proper size drill bit and drilled a pilot hole and used an easy out works like a charm.
  17. i would have done the same ground to the block but my 3rd wire was too short, i dont think it would hurt anything to hook both to the block and ground accordingly.
  18. no on mine i ran the wire from the block to the frame of the truck and then ran another wire from the negetive battery terminal to the body of the truck. ground from the battery negetive this is the frame ground to the engine block
  19. i just did my big 3 and i grounded the engine block to the frame and the negetive battery terminal to the body i believe this is the correct way.
  20. you should have posted here first rather than posting in multiple threads, i'm sure if someone has some there willing to part with they will get ahold of ya.
  21. they will prolly get so loud that cheap paper cone will burst into flames lol j/p
