  1. I bought new RCAs today thinking that was the problem but it didn't change anything. I'll probably have to check the wiring from the amp to the sub. Hard to believe that's the problem though if the sub randomly works sometimes.
  2. The ground hasn't moved since the day I installed this system 5 years ago. Still nice and tight. I'll try disconnecting and reconnecting it though to see if that does anything.
  3. Long story short, I bought a Memphis 16-MCD1500 from someone on here after my last amp went bad. I connected all of my wires and everything was fine for a few days til my sub stopped playing. I took a look at my amp and the light was on. Then I realized that there is some power going to the sub (I felt the sub and it was moving but definitely not enough to even realize it without touching it). So I played with the settings on the amp and disconnected and reconnected my wires but still no luck. I finally gave up after that so after sitting around for just a minute or 2 trying to think about what else it could be, the sub all of a sudden started playing on its own. Now a day later, the sub is back to cutting off and on. What could it possibly be? My electrical hasn't been upgraded but I never had this much trouble with my last amp. I don't know much about systems but could my 100amp fuse be the problem? I was told that I should be using a 150amp fuse for this amp and for my wiring (4 gauge power and ground) but my fuse hasn't blown so I don't think that's it. One thing I did realize with this amp though is that my lights dim A LOT when playing at full power...wasn't as bad with my last amp. The second time that my sub cut off is when I had my music playing at around full power. Hasn't turned back on since then but I still do feel the sub moving a little bit. I replaced the RCAs today thinking that was the problem because they did give me trouble before but still no luck.
  4. $300 would be a rough loss for me being it is still new. It is the constant power series and you would get your 1300 or so to your sub. I understand a budget though! How long have you had it laying around? If you still have it within a week or 2 I'll try to see if I can get some more cash and I'll get it from you. Even $300 is a lot right now so I'm fine with getting a used amp if I can find one. I'm gonna have to try finding one in the 200s first. Anybody have an opinion on the Hifonics BRZ2100? Specs say that it does 1400 watts at 2 ohms but when I bought an amp from them a few years ago, it was supposed to do 1000 watts but blew twice in a few weeks (got it replaced once). After that I told myself that I'd never get another amp from them but I'm wondering if they got any better. Even interested in the Hifonics HFi2500D.
  5. Funny thing is that I have been looking for an RF amp since mine was such a beast (it was used for about a year and a half before I bought it, and I used it for another 2 more years)...but I'm honestly trying to get around 1300-1500 watts to the sub without hurting the amp. I believe when I got it tested a few years ago, it was putting out about 1250 pretty easily. I'm aware that the T1000 is also underrated but $350 is just too much for me. It's tempting to just grab that off of you but $300 is really my limit. And my electrical is NOT upgraded (yes stupid...working on it too).
  6. First of all, I don't know much about car audio. I installed my whole system by myself and made my box and everything, but I'm nowhere near as knowledgeable as most of you on here so forgive me if I have no idea what I'm talking about. I got a Dual 1 ohm 12" Fi BL and I'm looking for an amp that will work well with it, with a little headroom if possible. I should have bought the dual 2 ohm version since amps that run at 1 ohm are much cheaper. But my dumbass wanted it to work with the amp I've been using, and it ended up blowing a few weeks later after using it for about 2 years (RF 1001bd..old version). I get a little confused with the whole ohm thing...I know that I can wire this sub down to .5 ohms and 2 ohms. I'm not sure what amps I can go with that would work well wired down to .5 ohms. Budget is about $300 but I'm hoping to be able to find an amp for $200 used. Any help is appreciated.
