I'm excited to see how this looks and the functionality of it over the OEM design. I'm always wanted to do some sort of a franken woofer using my blown 15" R I have... Do they use standard coil sizes and are u having to tap holes to fit the 12 spoke on??
-
Pretty much pointless to recone $100 woofer.

It's a subwoofer, I know that much.

SounDigital 8000.1 without question would be my first choice... I did some testing with them and was very impressed with it for daily usage. Then when I just did TL testing it was burping like a .5db louder than 2 AB VFL400.1 @ .5ohm and was exactly the same as 2 VFL500.1 @ .5ohm each. I have the entire test numbers around here somewhere if you're really interested in them.

Here ya go man, hope this helps you out some to get some ideas flowing - (4) 15" Alpine Type-R D4s - $800-900.. $200-225 each or (4) 15" FI SSDs - Same general price (2) Audioque 2200D - $700.. $350 each 250-300a HO alt (Ohio Gen, DC Power, Mechman, Irraggi, etc) - $250-500 Batts in back = (2) XS 3100s or similar group 31 batts - $500-700.. $250-350 each Under hood batt = XS D1200 or similar - $100-175 Power wire = 50' to 75' - $150-250 Wiring accessories = $50-100 Materials for enclosure = $100-200 Approx. total = $2650 - $3425 Enclosure suggestion - 6th order similar to what Jack's sleeper setup was like, but tuned higher than Jack's was... Another example of 6th order blowthrough would be Supergumby5000 on CA forum. He actually used to run 4 15" Rs but it ended up peaking very low(like high 20s/low 30s). Hope this helps and gives you a good option to look into... If you need any help or have any questions just drop me a PM bro.

Don't get that MA Audio amp... The Hifonics amp that you had listed before would work just perfect and is pretty cheap.

I'm not into movies like this at all but still gonna go see it in the next couple days.. My thoughts behind it are that any movie that cost $300 million+ and $200 million+ more in advertising has to have some pretty cool shit in it. Because I don't give a damn if you're James Cameron or not, no studio is gonna throw out that much money if they don't think the movie is up to par. -
I'd put getting an amp on hold for a little while until you get some more cash bro... A legit 2000w amp can't really be found for under $300 alone. A decent under hood batt will be $100-175, big batt in back will be $250-350, and power/ground wire + accessories to do the install/big 3 upgrade is gonna run you another $100 at least. I'd really re-think this all for the time being because if you were gonna get an amp that does a legit 2000w and run it off stock electrical bad thing are bound to happen. Then that $300 you just wasted on a shiny new amp will be gone quite quickly when the amp goes up in smoke from low voltage.
-
"nutin" hahahaha...... Well what kind of budget are you working with for an amp + electrical upgrades needed to back it up??
-
I'd personally suggest saving a little money by getting 2 10" SSDs instead of BLs, then getting an AQ 2200D to run the pair... Do u have any electrical upgrades to back up 2000w or more like you're planning on running??
-
The PA amp is horrible, plain and simple... The Hifonics Bxi2008d is a pretty decent amp that will do around 1600-1800 or so watts @ 1ohm and isn't too bad on electrical either. Just make sure that you set the gains correctly and don't run it too hard and you'll be just fine. Like I asked in your other thread, do u have any current electrical upgrades done to your car?? With the Bxi2008D you could prolli get away with having a solid under hood batt, big 3 upgrade in 1/0ga or larger wire, and a big batt in back. What kind of budget do u have for an amp + electrical upgrades needed to back it up?? Also are you gonna be the one building the enclosure and doing the install??

ExpoSport's calculator works pretty well and is more accurate than the RE calc... Is the 2ft3 before or after sub/port displacement?? How much port area?? What kind of power are you gonna be running??

round port area to slot port area
Marlo Stanfield replied to anubis's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
With round/aero ports I suggest anywhere from 7-10in^2 of port area per ft3... To the OP - remember that since you're using external aeros you don't have to account for area taken up by the ports as if they were inside the enclosure. -
Here is a wiring diagram for 3 D2 woofers(should help u understand a lil better) - http://rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_w...mp;woofer_imp=3 My suggestion would be 2 12s or a single 15.. Enclosure firing forward, completely sealed off from trunk, and using a single 8" aero. For the 2 12s I'd suggest: Atomic APX, American Bass VFL or HD(personal choice), DC LVL4xl, T3 T2000, DD 3512, AQ HDC3, etc... For the single 15: DD 9515g w/ kevlar cone(this would be my choice), TC 5200, Atomic APXX, RD HW, Mach5 SPL, T3 TSNS, etc. If I were in your shoes I'd run a DD 9515g w/ white kevlar cone, black cap.. Like 4ft3 w/ 40in^2 of port using a single 8" aero. Double baffle, plenty of bracing, 45s, lots of resin/glass/filler then sanded smooth, and as mentioned before a single 8" aero. Edit: before changing up your woofer(s) setup, get a rock solid electrical first. That Mojo is super power hungry and I've seen some ugly things happen to them with low voltage.

Youtube is pissing me off

Then don't use it, pretty simple answer to not being aggravated. -
Is a HO Alternator really needed?
Marlo Stanfield replied to 03navi's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
You'll see a drastic difference adding an HO alt(especially the size one you have listed) with the power in your sig.
