  1. I kinda think it's a wise idea to go the electric route, especially nowadays like the OP said. With any nitro, you'll be buying fuel, glow plugs, batteries for the glow plug lighter, air filters, etc. It ain't cheap, which is why I'm trying so hard to get rid of mine. Treated correctly, a brushless system should require a heck of a lot less maintenance. I'll say it again- I'm a fan of Revos. The two vids posted show it can take a beating pretty well, like its larger sibling. However...2wd is more fun if you wanna be able to step the rear end out and slide the truck around (even) more...

  2. Hello all- I'm selling one pair of T3 T5Cs, and one pair of T3 T6Cs. I was going to use these in my Jeep, but neither pair fit where I wanted them to without adapters. They have ~30 seconds of play time each, just to ensure they worked.

The T6Cs have nice push terminals, and both pairs feature sexy CF cones.

    T6Cs - $50 shipped.

    T5Cs - $40 shipped.

*Both sets come in OEM packaging, and include the factory grills*

*I accept PayPal ONLY, for both of our sakes*

  3. I've been listening to a lot of Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and Snoop's Doggystyle lately. Both albums have their respective strong points, but that's not what this thread is about. What I wanna know is, what the hell happened to good mastering? I've listened to both albums all the way through (couple times each) with some Sennheiser HD 212 Pro headphones, which are at least respectable. I've found that Kanye's album (Nov. 2010 I believe) is FULL of hisses, distorted bass, background loops being too loud for the vocals, and general amateur crap. Doggystyle (1993?) sounds way the hell better. Way cleaner, no obvious gaps in vocals (yes, it happens on Dark Twisted Fantasy) and just a crisp sound. Did the move from analog recording to digital really screw things over that much?

  4. Oh man. So much bad.

My mother was diagnosed with cancer, my Uncle (who I was very close with) passed away the morning after senior prom, my girlfriend of 11 months told me she wants to see other people, and I had a poor first semester of engineering school.

The good? Well, it's hard to see the good right now. But I've made many new friends at college, and kept the old...I'm still alive, I have a loving family, and once I retake a couple classes, I should be on track.

  5. The install went pretty smoothly- here are some more pics.

The improvement in sound quality is unbelievable. Until now, I had been running on three of four mexican-made POS Mopar speakers, powered by another POS, the Mitsubishi Electronics-made Mopar head unit. The Kicker KS600s have pretty good response- the bass comes through much more effectively than before, and the highs are a lot crisper and cleaner. I will have to set my own EQ though- the best one I've listened to so far, the 'Dynamic' one, almost hurts my ears with the amount of treble it puts out. Whatever though, it's all good.

Not the most wonderful pic, but there's my baby! I put the chrome grill in, and swapped the ****ty sealed-beam headlights out for glass-housing ones that take H4 bulbs. I also did a 98 Grand Cherokee rear disc brake conversion, WITH working ABS. Last but not least, it's got a Flowmaster 40.

    Little bit of trim removal

    Wire, anyone??

    P1020233.jpg

Working in the footwell in a 35 degree garage isn't fun.

    One of the KS600s

    P1020238.jpg

Door panels off- they're not too hard to remove, so adding SS in the future shouldn't be bad.

Lots of speakers, with a side of orange soda FTW

Some nice Knu sticking out of the dash

  6. Quick update...have everything wired, head unit in, but the DAMN speakers don't fit. In either location. The T6Cs are too wide for the front doors, and the T5Cs are too small for the roof location. What the fuck is this?! Going to BestBuy now to see if they have something that actually fits.

    EDIT:

    First off..../rage.

I'm keeping the T3s for a future fiberglass bookshelf speakers experiment. Either that, or I'll sell them if someone wants them badly enough.

I ran out to Best Buy and dropped more cash than I wanted on two pairs of Kicker KS600 6" coaxials- they fit in both stock locations. Successfully ran the Knu wire, fully hidden, fully soldered. The JVC head unit is VERY nice- very clean sound, and the iPod control is slick. I took a decent amount of photos, and I'll put those up when I wake up tomorrow.

  7. What's up guys- I've been driving around in an '01 Jeep Cherokee Limited for quite some time now. It doesn't have the Infinity system, and of the four speakers it does have, three are working. (Common problem with the wiring shorting out in the front doors.) Anyway, it's more than time for an upgrade, as this thing sounds muddy and harsh as hell.

    The goods:

JVC Arsenal KD-AHD69 (5v preouts, HD Radio, 20w RMS x4, iPod control, etc.)

T3 T6C coax for the front doors

T3 T5C coax for the rear roof

75' Knukonceptz Klear 16 gauge speaker wire

May be added later: SS Damplifier Pro door kit

Some of you may be asking why I'm not at least running a 4 channel amp. I decided to go small on this upgrade, for two reasons. The main one was that I didn't want to spend over $400, and I certainly achieved that goal. The other is that I don't know how much longer I'll be keeping the Jeep, so any big system I do in the future will be in another vehicle.

    On with the pics:

    Everything together

    P1020223.jpg

The deck, with dash adapter. I ordered it from Crutchfield- yes, people moan about their prices, but I've got 60-day money back and free Crutchfield support for one or two years.

    P1020224.jpg

Harness done right- I always prefer solder and shrinkwrap over s**tty crimps.

    P1020227.jpg

Speakers all together- check out that carbon.

    P1020230.jpg

Push terminals on the T6Cs FTW...T5Cs don't have them though =/

Install happening later today- more pics to come!
