Yeah, I did end up getting the motor (and everything else) from Forevrbumpn. He's been great about it all, even with all the stupid questions I asked. I can't wait to hear this thing play...I'm currently looking for a pro audio amp to run at home. Obviously I have to build a box too...

Couple more...
coil (dual 2)
Old school Kove Audio motor (from an Armageddon 15 it seems)

Lookin' goood. Got it in yesterday from Forevrbumpn. The soft parts are going to be epoxied in the basket by me sometime soon, but for now I hope these will do:
Sittin next to the Savage 25...which is a beast all its own
Let me know what you think.

Thanks for the offers guys...I have all the parts for the sub sorted out. I'll let you know when I build another though...
-
I like the use of the word 'compacitor.'
-
I would PM Forevrbumpn about it...he builds custom subs and I'm sure he'll have something that fits what you need.
-
well im gonna plug it in and hopefully it works
Jeebus. Before you try that, at least please let me know what power supply you have. What you're planning is a temporary fix at best...usually those adapters have two molex connectors on them so that the graphics card can draw from separate +12V rails on the power supply.

Go to Start-->Run, and type "%temp%" without the quotes and hit enter. This opens up the Temporary Files folder, which should be emptied from time to time. Do a quick Ctrl+A to select everything, and hit the delete (not backspace) key to get rid of it all. I've noticed speed gains on some machines with this.

u think the 500w psu will be good for 4 1TB drives running 24x7? (cavier black wester digital)
The short answer is yes, that PSU will run those things, but not well. I'd say you should look for a PSU with ~600W and 16A or more on each of the +12V rails...look at some PSUs on Newegg.com and check the specs. I recommend something by Seasonic, PC Power & Cooling, Enermax, OCZ, Silverstone, Corsair, Antec, or Mushkin.

I definitely am a computer geek. I've built several higher-end PCs for my family and friends...I try to only use the better stuff like Lian Li and Silverstone cases, Gigabyte and ASUS boards, OCZ and Corsair memory, EVGA and XFX graphics cards...etc. Aspiring to be a computer hardware engineer once I'm out of school....we'll see how it goes.

hey im looking to buy a fully loaded 18 btl one of the first models made with 3 magnets on it with dual 1ohm voice coils my fully loaded handles 4000 watts rms
There are currently two for sale in the For Sale section...each needs a re-cone but I'm sure the prices would be decent.

Your heatsink shouldn't be turned like that...its sides should be parallel to their respective sides of the case. Especially with the CM V8, which is a little heavier than most. If I were you I'd check the mounts just to be safe. Other than that it's bitchin. (I dig the Velociraptor )
Oh wait...just read that you have a P55 board with both sets of mounts. Nevermind, keep it comin!

Sent off emails to Ascendant, RE, DC, and even Fixmyspeaker.com. Basically asked to see if any of them are willing to sell me a motor....we'll see what happens come Monday I guess.
-
Bump
I'm really hoping somebody on here has a good motor they'd be willing to part with.
-
If your buying a recone from FI.. Your really not making your own sub exactly.. Buy motor and hit me back and I can help you out with parts.
I know...the plan did change a little bit. I was originally going to buy the soft parts one at a time, but I don't trust myself with assembling them all and still having it all be centered, etc. So for this woofer at least, it looks like I'll be buying a recone assembly, basket, and motor. Then I'll do all the adhesive work and soldering, and work on an enclosure.
-
Been looking...eBay as a whole is useless and Craigslist (at least locally) hasn't been any better. I really hope someone on here has one of the above motors lying around...
-
When you do finish it, make sure to take some vids of the sub. I really want to see how it turns out.
No problem. I'll put up some pics of the build process too and try to make it interesting haha
-
Well, because I'm basing this sub off a Fi recone kit, I'm kinda limited when it comes to motor choice. I have the option of an RE XXX (2003-2005 w/12 spoke basket), MT, SE or SX. I could also use an Adire Brahma or Ascendant Avalanche motor, but those are harder to come by I assume.
Thanks for the offer though man, I do appreciate it.
This here is what I'm going by:
Fi Audio Non-Fi sub recone kits
read the titles under the kits backward...the website is messed right now for some reason
-
Yeah, I definitely plan on bumping this sub. Fixmyspeaker.com looks like a pretty legit place...they don't have any new or used motors though.
-
Got an email from DD...basically, because I don't have a sub they can't sell me any parts or recones. It's all good though, I mean I have a chrome 12-spoke basket coming soon, and hopefully somebody will sell me an RE SE or SX motor. After that I'll be getting a Fi recone kit and an amp.
"
Hi Brian,
We do not sell any parts by themselves. All parts are only used to build complete woofers.
Good luck with you project.
Thanks,

All I can say is...Sir Mix-a-Lot comes to mind when I see that woofer. Puts the Kicker CVR8s I have to filthy shame.
-
Informative vid about runaway diesels...plus a pretty good story about one haha
-
i have a 18" MT for 300 plus shipping
I appreciate the offer, but I'm really looking for just a motor assembly. I already have a 12-spoke chrome basket on the way.
Probably should've stated this in the title, but I'm leaning more toward an SE or SX motor...but I will look into an MT or XXX motor if those two are unavailable.
**Now looking for an Fi, RE, Adire or Ascendant motor for a 12-spoke basket.** See 1st post for more info.
Being a Bass head payed off.

I have a copy of Resistance: Fall Of Man (1st one), Need for Speed Carbon, and Ridge Racer 7 that I'd be willing to part with. I have my 20GB that I bought on release day. (I was kind of fanatic when it came out...that's worn off but I still like the system)
