Need help withmy sa 18s
jfoodstamp replied to Mattib199's topic in Sundown Audio - GREAT Amps/Subs! GREAT Customer Service!
The 600 watts per woofer is pretty underarrated when combined with the right box, port area and tuning of amp -
I just had my VM-1 installed in my car today. It looks great and definitely is a nice to watch as my voltage changes- lol. But here is my question when my installer put it in I told him to wire it to my rear battery distribution blocks so now when I shut off my car it stays on which is not a problem as for me being worried about it draining my batts. How will the Display hold up doing this?

Setting Subsonic Filter With XL' M2'S
jfoodstamp replied to jfoodstamp's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
Right I understand that the 33hz chip is standard with the audiocontrol piece I was just trying to confirm. The only confusing thing is when I called and talked Audiocontrol they said to keep the standard 33hz chip in since my box was tuned to that. Maybe thats what the sq guys do but I don't know. Any insight on this? -
I am currently building a system for my 93 Chevy Caprice. My substage is a Hifonics Colossus 3200 watts RMS amp on 2 XL 15'S M2. My box is right at 6.65 net after all displacements tuned to 33 hz. Here is my question I have a Audiocontrol EQS with a built in 33hz subsonic 18 db octave filter. Keep in mind this works on a chip and is not selectable. I have not hooked this system up yet because I am still buying all my electrical. My question is should I buy a different chip to go with 25, 30 hz or stick with the 33 hz subsonic? How low should I be able to play under tuning without risking damage to the woofers. I really want this set up to be a low end monster

I can see adding some eq to it but I would like to add the tweets still in my pillars to raise the sound stage higher, add more power and cone area and headroom. I would like to see that article by eric stevens you were just talking about

Well I haven't eq'd them... just raw power. I'm wondering. I just always want more.... Its the show off in me. And I have also went to alot bigger car than I had.... From a civic to a 93 Chevy Caprice. If I could judt buy another set of image hotns and fit them in there I would or a 4 ohm driver I could be happy

I have used some soundstream sst-05 in a couple of installs used with compomemt sets and passive crossovers. Did it sound good... Hell Yeah. Loud Yes Sir, But I want Great. I am gonna look at some of your suggestions. AS for EQ I have some options: I currently own a broke Audiocontrol eqs and am thinking about getting it rebuilt but really want to use a Audiocontrol three.2 in dash Eq. I had the older model in the late 90's and loved it. Does Anybody else have any input on this?

Okay I currently own a set of Image cd1e Horns. These horns are 8 Ohm and sound great but it isn't quite enough. What do you guys think about adding an 8 ohm supertweeter to help me get more power out of the amp and help in the upper range of the audio spectrum?

Secret recipe level 2 8" box?
jfoodstamp posted a topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
I see DC Audio recommends .8 cubes net for a level 2 8" woofer. I have 2 of these and am looking for the loudest daily box in a trunk car on about 800 watts rms. Does anybody have any additional input? -
I've ran a couple of the A7 amplifiers and they are strong, do rated, run.5 ohm, built like a tank and no more power hungry than any other amp in its class. In my opinion they are in the same league as Sundown, DC Audio amps

Did you swap out your ports or were you tuned to 30hz the whole time. The reason Im being nosy is that I just walled my civic ready for 4 15's with like 16 cubes tuned to 35 hz. Im thinkin I'm gonna run level 3s on 3500 watts?
