Sell these amps and get one (or 2) with an adjustable subsonic filter. Your subs will love you with more power and a ssf.:yahoo:
-
Damn, you must have a Sundown dealer near you ?!!!
Nice choice on woofers.:good:
Could have looked into the SSA line (2010 Icon or Xcons).
Waiting for some pics, now ! please!!!!
-
sealing should be better.
It's not that hard, just some panels to "hide" the holes ! You need to put the box in a way it will never move !
-
if you want a strong box, just brace it as much as you can. You will hear the difference just by knocking the box !
Bracing take some volume off, so tuning may change a bit.
Resin, fiberglass,...waste of time for daily listenings.
Bracing, bracing, bracing is all you need. It's easy and cheap !

Don't buy any HO alt for now.
With 1500 watts you can be good with your electrical system. Just do the big3 in 0 ga. Run 0 ga wire from the battery to your amps (with a distribution block if you have a 2nd amp).
I f you want to use a yellowtop : go for it.
When you install everything, check your voltage. If you have too much voltage drops, you will need to upgrade.
The sundown sax can't be found cheaper, new. shipped, it's a great deal. You need 600 watts rms per sub, so the sax1200 can power 2 sa's subs.
Be careful of the VC you get on your sub.
Audiopipe is cheaper for amps but not better. On a budget you can find some good CLARION amps.
The FI ssd seems to be a very good choice too.
Forget all Power acoustik !

nice..hmm i was considering a btl 12 on about 3400..or maybe 2 xl 10's
3400 watts rms on a single btl ? For burps only.
they're rated for 2000 rms, so , be careful.
BTW I don't think 2 10" subs have more cone area than a single 15". I won't do the maths, do it !
Get a good 15" . You can still have the wow factor with a good one.
-
Sell the amps if you can, and get amps that can play at 1 ohm ! Or just a powerful one for your solo x.
But if you can get them econed to D1 or D4, you'll be good with those amplifiers;
the 4 12" can be hard to fit in a car.
-
You shouldn't drop that bad. with such low power.
Try to fix this problem before buying a second battery. It may be worst with 2 batts for your alt.
Something must be wrong in your system, and you said you did the big 3 ? Dam...
Be careful .
dimming problems with 300 watts rms on an Impala ? Impossible !!!
Double check everything.
-
Wow !
That's excursion !!!
-
SSD FTW
But you may find 2 sundown SA for $300.
-
Your alt seems to be weak for this power, you need at least another one. IMO
-
No more opinions ?
Like it or not ?!!
-
Get a single BTL or AA Mayhem 18".
-
If you want to be loud on a budget, try a Fi ssd 15" or 18". Your amp may be too powerful for a single ssd thogh. Be smart with the gain.
the Sundown SA 12 or 15" are fantastic subs too.
Those are much better sounding subs than the Audioque. IMHO.
Another solution is too look for a used sub, you can find great deals for your budget.
Don't focus too much on subs, work on a good custom box so that you can run any type of subs later.
The DC seem to be very good. People love them on this forum. A level 4 should be good too.
-
Looks loud !
Never saw those amps before !
Nice install, I like the back trunk.
-
looks good , should get a good sound ..
Thanks !
Yes, it sounds really good.
We made a listening session at the beach yesterday (yeah, I live in the french Caribbeans, Martinique !!! ), and everyone was amazed. Only one set of speakers and a sub for such great quality and output !!!
I'm really satisfied with the system. But, of course I would love to have one more sub and amp, and an 8" speakers for mid-bass.

Some more info :
Deadening done 2 years ago with Secondskin Damplifier (trunk, had a first layer of Fatmat) and damplifier pro (doors, trunk lid).
All accessories come from Stinger (ebay and Darvex).
Big 3 almost finished !! I can't access easily to the alt, so I only did grounds for the batt and for the engine block. But I could see the positive results on my voltage. I have absolutely no drops at all, even when playing at full tilt !
I have only one stock battery under the hood. I will upgrade it when it dies, not before !

Hello,
My car is a Toyota auris 4doors hatchback, with a 2 l diesel engine. 10 or 15% window tint, 18" Axia rims, Pirelli P zero nero tyres (225 x 40 x 18)
I have recently changed enclosure in my car. I had a sealed box (3 ft3) and now I run a ported one (3.1 ft3 at 33hz, I hope so ! with 2 4" psp aeroports).
Full view of the trunk:
Bass amp : Sundown saz 1500 D :
Speakers (Focal 165 KP) amp : Sundown sax 50.4 bridged
The sub : SSA Xcon 15" D2
Adding some bracing in the box :
Testing the huuuuge 4" psp ports :
Carpeting done :
Screwing the ports to the box :

Focal used to sell their speakers with Audison amps in the past, before they make their own little amps.
all Focal dealers were audison dealers too !!!
-
You want clean bass ? You need an SSA Icon for sure, or a Fi Q, on 1000 w rms. Ported (at 30-32 Hz) or sealed, you'll love it !
icon>re IMHO.
The Audison lrx are awesome : you seem to have some good deals with James, don't wait !
-
Subs back or up with port to side is pretty loud in a trunk. Also in SUV's from my testing. Gives you a good solid wall that wont lose energy compared to the trunk hatch itself where you could loose TONS of energy. Side port firing from my testing also gives you SOLID lows
I'm really happy to read this !
My next box should have sub up and 2 4" ports (17" long psp round and flared on both ends) to the side. It's all I can do because I could not find elbows for the ports.
I was wondering if it can be a good solution. And you tell me : YES it is !
What side do you think is the "best" for the ports ? passenger side or driver side ?
Is it better to put the sub the farthest from the port, or in the middle of the box ?
Sorry OP for the threadjack !
-
I was also looking at the SSA XCON and i was wondering if anyone has any experience with it
It's a baddass sub !!!
Take a look at the ssa site, you'll see plenty of installs.
I love mine ported, and sealed too.
Gets really loud and sound real good.
It's a sq sub, it will get loud but it's not a sub for spl comps.
-
I would go for the Sundown. It's brand new, with a serious warranty.
I don't like the custom Type R. It may be better than the Sundown sa, but I trust sundown way more than a custom sub. He doesn't even have 2 of them.
Good luck !
This is Stupid but I want to try it...
