  1. Try to Google : "ground noise on Pioneer" , "pico fuse problem".

there are several topics about it.

My pr 88 rs had the same problem ! :(

The easiest/cheapest way is to ground each rca : just use a small speaker wire that you put around the rca (without touching the inner part) and you ground this wire where you can. This solution will help you, but you will still hear noise, with A/C on for example.

You can send your hu to Pioneer for a repair.

I took mine to an electronic shop, locally, and they knew what to do : change the blowned pico fuse, or bypass it with a small wire.

I have no problem, no noise at all for now !!!

But I will always remember to turn the h u off And/Or to take the fuse out BEFORE I touch anything on the amplifiers (rca, speaker wires,...).

    Good luck

  2. Look at these :http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/12%22-SSA-DCON-12D4%7B47%7DS4.html

You can have 2 of them and look for a used amp on this forum : With a 600 watts rms amp your friend will be fine.

I'm sure you can find a good 500-600 watts rms amp for $100.

He can also run only one sub : why not a 15" ?

The one sub-solution would be the cheapest way to start a good system.

for example :http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/12%22-SSA-ICON-12D1%7B47%7DD2.html with any amp, until he can have a good one !

These 2 subs are not spl subs but they sound sooooo good !

There are dozens of subs in the market, so, good luck !

  3. Any idea where I could get a sundown 1200 for $200? I've been looking like crazy for some of these deals. Post links if you have them clapping.gif

Look at the ssa shop or ask Jacob @ sundown audio.

The sae 1200 is a beast, but he may only need the saz 1000 (I don't remember the prices).

The ssd is a good choice too !

BTW take a look at the Sundown subs : sa's and Z series, they're cheap AND goooood !!! You can love them more than the ssd.

  4. The gti is a great woofer. It goes really looooow but is not the loudest woofer in the world !!! the SSA Icon is much better than the gti. No doubt.

I don't know about the Orion, I thought it was more an spl sub.

You can take a look at the Fi Q : same category as the Icon and the GTI.

The SSA Xcon will do what you want, but is a lot more powerful (and it is more expensive).

You can have whatever woofer you want, you MUST use a proper box : it's really box dependant.

Be sure to use a good custom box, check the dimensions you can afford in your trunk in order to choose the right (size) sub.

    Good luck

  5. You'd better start with one sub one amp(like the AQ1200) and a big custom box.

Don't be cheap on the Ported box !

Try a15" AQ hdc, or a Fi BL or SSD, for examples.

DC makes good subs too !!

Keep money for a 2 channel amp and a component set for for your front speakers. With so much bass, your OEM speakers won't be good or powerful enough.

If you keep your stock h u, get a serious LOC to avoid bad noise.

You need a 0 ga amp kit.

Don't need new alt or 2nd battery with this kind of system!

I forgot Second skin Damplifier for deadening the doors and the trunk.

THAT is a very very good system for a starter! Too good!!

  6. All kind of cars can have this problem.

American car makers needed to do something to make money ! So, they found something to hurt the n°1 selling cars in your country, and with all the medias talking....It started like that!

BTW Toyota calls back most of their new models in Europe : auris, yaris, prius,..etc saying it is just for checking.

Now, they try to take advantage on this problem.

  7. There is a sale going on Sundown amps. They "make their power" at 12.8v. Real power.

On the cheap you can also try the Audiopipe 1800 or the MBQuart dsc 2000 (or something like that) : this one is really cheap for 2000 watts.

You may just need one extra battery in the trunk. Buy a voltmeter and watch out!

  8. so hold on now

you told a guy you were getting a 2500+ watt rms amp and the guy told you to get a 1200 watt rms amp?

like really there is no comparison here at all. the rockford is twice the size. you could also look into sundown audio and DAT amps

    X2

Maybe it's about the same price, but 1000 watts vs 2500, damn !!!

  9. Go Sundown : sae 1200, or saz 1000 or 1500. FTW ! It's real power, not marketing gimmicks!!!

AS they told you, you can get them from db-r.com or from Sundown : they have a dedicated forum here, and Jacob, the owner, is on line everyday. He answers all questions. And deliver everywhere in the world.

Look at their warranty : amazing !
