  1. Cross your sub higher, or your mids lower.

Nothing really covers 50-75 Hz ?

Get some better speakers. you don't need to run a 3-way set to sound good. A very good set of comps (2way) well installed on a powerful amp (to have headroom) and you're good to go.

I would save some more money and look at the Focal (at least the K series), Morel, JBL GTI, Dynaudio,...etc forget Hifonics, Audiopipe,... then you could sell your current speakers to someone locally.

  2. well i start with set the gains right with test tones an dd-1 and/or o-scope

i would guessmate you crossover setting on your amps or used cc-1

if you have an 7 or more EQ i would put the levels flat and run some pink noise and use an RTA

    and then set your level

You use a lot of equipment to tune your system !

I just use my ears and a well recorded cd.

dd-1 and cc-1 won't save your life. You will still need to use your ears as all songs are not recorded the same. I don't even talk of bad mp3 songs that will sound bad whatever you do !

  3. They have free box designs on their website. You can use the same box specs than the Xcon IIRC.

The BC 2000 is enough, but if your electrical is good enough for a 3500 w amp, go for it ! Turn your gain carefully. But this sub can handle much more power than rated, at least for burps.

If it's only for listening pleasure, your friend will love it with 2000 watts. Don't focus on watts, focus on an efficient box for this beast.

  4. The Crescendo amps seem to be good ones. Take a look at them. They're cheap and powerful.

If I did not already have my Sundown amps, I'd get some Crescendo's.

I did not like the 4 Ga input on the Rubicon 2500.1. I thought it was too weak for that power.

    Good luck.

  5. Hey has anyone brought any subs from fi car audio in the last month I heard a couple bad reviews about this company and what even makes it worst they have no contact number so you can't call if you have a question about anything or a problem.last thing I heard about the company there is a guy of nick who works for fi takes your money and doesn't ship.I don't want to be a victim.so any input be great thanks

no problem with Fi, with Nick, or no one.

I don't know where you saw that but it is totally wrong.

Try to contact them on their forum if you have any question. But I think you should not spread that kind of rumors.

  6. Don't worry!

It's easy to set your gain by ears.

I know no one doing it with DMM or DD1 or oscilloscope, locally. My installer is in this business for many years and he never burnt a sub or an amp. Me too !

    Good luck

  7. For sure, they are not the best subs on earth but they ae cheap. Keep your sub if you like it. And get a second one.

But I don't think you need to tune so low. AQ recommend 36 Hz IIRC.

That is a lot of power for those subs. They can handle that, but is it really necessary ? I don't really know.

Focus more on the box than on power. It will be more efficient.

  8. Take a look at the ssa store. I think they have some great Bravox comps.

Or you could look for a set of JBL gti 508 or 608 for "cheap". I've never listened to them but I usually trust JBL products (not the entry level ones though !). I found one set lately for $229. But I did not get it : I had no use for it :)

  9. woofersetc is on ebay too !

Most car audio internet shops have a store on ebay.

No price limit ? Find some FOCAL K series. they will love your amp, even if they're ratde for 80-100 w rms per side.

I run my 165 KP set with a 2 x 160 amp (Sundown sax 50.4 bridged at 4 Ohms) for more than a year. This set is 6 or 7 years old !
