  1. Ok thanks man. I'm not in over my head, just moving into new territory compared to what I'm used to. I've had some bad ass systems over the years. I started with sealed boxes and have always stuck with sealed boxes, just what I've always liked. I built one ported box years ago when I first got into this kinda stuff and didn't know what I was doing and it ruined me on ported. Now I'm in a position to get serious with this stuff and just looking for answers. Just through my method of logic, seems to me that a ported box inside a trunk just isn't gonna give me the type of bass that a sealed would in the same environment, but I really don't know. This is just a hobby of mine man, I build bad ass engines, I know what I know about engines cause I asked questions and learned from those questions and now I have no problem building a 600 hp small block chevy or a thousand hp diesel. So now I'm moving up and learning how to build systems that are as high performance as my cars are. Gotta ask to learn! As far as what I'm looking for, I'm not trying to get a comp SPL set up, just something wicked for daily use that can burb some high numbers on occasion. I'm a diesel mechanic by trade and have a damn good understanding of how to get plenty of power to the amps. I'll take any advice you all wanna dish out except for advise that's telling me I'm in over my head.
  2. I just watched Steve's video that posted on facebook last night. They put 4 T4000 in the Honda. I need some of you experts to tell me how the hell his subs handle that kind of power. I'm not doubting it at all, I just wanna know so I can do it. If I heard the video right, he said one amp per voice coil. so 4000+ watts per coil, 8000+ watts per sub? Did I understand that right? RMS power I assume? Now I'm not a complete idiot, I understand that's for short durations but what can those subs really take for constant daily driving and how do you power them that high without a melt down? I'm thinking along the lines... no bass boost, clean power, no clipping, anything else? I heard him say in a video a while back, you gotta know how to run em like that... well I wanna know! Also I've only ever run sealed boxes, wanting to go ported and try it out for a while. I have a nissan maxima and the rear seats don't fold down, ported boxes still sound good stuffed in a trunk or should I stick with sealed? Thanks fellas.
