I finally broke down today and bought some 1/0 for my big 3 charge wire. They charge five a foot!! Anyways I was wondering if running 1/0 would burn up my alt or batt. possibly since its stock, and if a 100A fuse is too much b/c its a 70A alt i think.. i knw the first one took a crap so got it replaced with a remanufactured one, idk if they're the same amps or not.
started to rain so I couldnt hook it up to the alt.

i got my first this season, so i just kept competing now im loaded with trophies
did you seal everything off from the trunk when you flipped it? if you didnt i guarentee you would gain atleast 2 full db by sealing everything off so no air gets into the trunk
here it is. would of got second but I got jewed out of it bc the bracket.

Cool bro, got my first satruday also, got 2nd in a meca comp, and got 3rd in another sunday, did 139.9 saturday and flipped my box around and did a 144 sunday off of a single XL12 and a kicker 1500
damn thats a huge gain in dB man. I wish i could do 144 and i hav a 15 lol. what kind of box did u have the xl in?

Next time, use something like this, very easy to install and works awesome, i use them on every box i do or design

maybe you need more bracing because from the looks of it you have none?
ya i dnt have any bracing unless u count the port walls lol. I really have no experence with bracing but i guess i should start being that its a 15 and kinda heavy.

Maybe you could get some wood corners, angles or something like that? this happened to my best friend, the box actually cracked haha, we did this and he gained 1 db for a comp he had coming, then he made a new box!!
ya il prolly jus rig it to hell lol.. the baffel vibrates a little to when the subs slapping real hard. like more than it should, next box is gunna have screws every 3in.

if anything just get some resin for a temporary fix to seal it up
but i would eventually build a new one and resin the outside to seal it from water damage...i had to do this in my trunk because it also leaked a little

Alright so im taking the amp and sub out of my trunk bc im going to install some sound deadener and 1/0 and I come to find this!
My box swelded up bad and i dnt know how water got inside my trunk! anyways this is bad bc im going to two competitions later this week and im wondering if i need to make another box. I did 141.4 with it like that apparently lol but now this has just changed things. I was going to get the 1/0 gauge for my amp and big three, the sound dampener is already on its way. Do you guys think i need to build another one quick or just run it and get all my wire?

ok well i just need to vent.... ok heres the story well i left for d.c. about a 2 weeks ago and so i drop my car off to get wheels and tires put on an stuff well it all was good i get home from d.c. and i dont like how much of a gap there is in between the wheels so i order springs and when they come in my dad goes and drops off my car since i cant drive right now so everything goes good the car looks really good now since its lowered 2inches and got detailed , well the car was suppose to say inside the shop on a lift because its my dads friend and i was gonna pay him extra to do that but my dad took care of it for me. well the ended up not putting it on a lift and putting it right in the front of their parking lot on a busy road over night well the honda key has a key pad with it n i also have a viper alarm , if you dont set the viper one no alarm will go off well they ended up hitting the honda one and not activating the alarm that night or day idk for sure someone broke in it and stole a tv, ipod touch, ipod video, $100 pair of sunglasses, a amp (that i just bought) and some change out of the cup holders well my insurance company said they cant do anything because there is no physical damage to the car and i have a plan that "protects" up to 5,000 in audio stuff. so basically im fucked now and usually my dad pays for most of my stuff because im 16 and dont have a job but this time i paid for it all and everything that they stole i paid for. im so pissed you dont understand
so they stole all the kicker stuff?

Every car has a different resonant frequency so higher tuning can't always be a solution. Also it depends how you do your box and it position and how much space it takes up...sooo many variables... you need a termlab and lots of time lol
I heard from some box builder that there is a formula to find your car's resonant frequency. Is this true?

Try tuning it to 40 hertz as a start.
You need to just experiment with port tuning and box size.
ok. a higher frequency make that much of a difference in spl?

I went to one of my first spl competitions yesterday and learned alot of stuff. I finished 3rd in my class hitting 141.4dB on like a 43hz sine wave with the cvx. The thing is now people are saying my box is tuned to low. Its tuned at 34hz which i planned originally for music, so now i need to build a box with a higher tuning. What freq. do you think i should make the box this time and do areo ports and slot ports do the same thing? I was going to try an areo port directed to the cab extending out from the box b/c the box i have now is 3.5 cubes with port displacement and that barely fits. Any suggestions would be great.

I went to the Ottawa Audio and Video Concepts show today and placed third in my class with a 141.4 I have to say it was a pretty awsome event any of you guys go?

no they don't have to be the same brand just the same voltage.
so a 12v die hard and a 12v xs wuld work wired in parallel? b/c i heard xs has lithium so that still would not matter?

also remember that having a crap battery and a great alt wont solve voltage problems. one good bat and an alt is the best option with a second out back
ya definitly. Its alot more simple and i dnt want to have alot of runs of wire going out back. I will probly do the big 3 first, the batt, and then the alt. And hopefully eliminate all electrical probs.

the stock alt is designed to power only what the car comes with originally and maybe a few amps of reserve. add in a 1500 watt amp, and your just killing your electrical system. go for the wiring and alt first!
ya that kinda makes more sense to me.. I my alt cannot supply the power needed to run that amp to its best
