  1. So this is just a 1/16 scale, for messing around.. If I wanted one to lauch and be a little more planted, would that be the Slash?

i think the slashes look ugly as hell. I love the way the revo hugged the road at higher speeds. And it's small yes, but it tears through grass, puddles, mud, dirt like its big brother. Was worth every penny tbh.

Yea the looks on the slash were meh.. I think the revo out the door at Hobbytown is 291 for the car, then whatever else I need.. maybe a few gears, a bumper, wheelie bars, and of course another 7.2.. so $400 ?? I can think of alot more useless ways to blow $400 ;)

get the other spur gear for sure. Don't really need the wheelie bar, people make their own xD. All you'll need is the truck, the spur gear (forget what tooth count), extra battery and the Y harness. And some balls to drive it ;)

Might I add, though its small, take a curb at an angle and it'll hop em no problem hehe. Take em fast and do some barrelrolls xD

    You seem a bit biased....

    But im still listening;)

  2. I haven't have a RC monster truck in like 6 or 7 years and I was a nitro man then, but the electric Revo/E-Maxx sounds like hell on wheels. May possible convert.

The new brushless motors are insane.. The Mamba monster Motor/speed control is a pretty sick upgrade..

And from what I understand , these new Brushless motors have better all around performance than a nitro, plus obviously alot cheaper , and waterproof

  4. I'm partial to the new e-maxx it's a solid truck with a billion upgrade parts and accessories. The e-revo 1/16 seems like it may be a lil small but not sure what your tastes are. I know I'd go for the e-maxx for sure.

This is gonna be my first RC in a long time, and the Emaxx is a little spendy.. So If I get something a little cheaper just to see if Im into it, and actually do like it, Ill probably get that or the 1/8 Revo

  5. No Nitro? Shame...I have an HPI Savage 25 gathering dust.

Anyway, the 1/16 Revo looks intriguing. I know from experience that any fullsize Revo is badass, so the scaled one shouldn't disappoint. 4x4 will have advantages over the 4x2 trucks for sure.

No nitro... Its just not practical for me.. And the new brushless setups are pretty insane.. 65+ with a ton of low end with a gear swap and some Lipo batts... Only thing ive been told buy the guys who race these is the nitro is for you if you want excessive maintenance , a gas smell , and the sound of the motor...

That little 1/16 Revo rips out of the box @ 50 MPH, with a double 7.2 setup, but is pretty flippy..

  6. Ok.. So went to 2 of our local shops today, and got a pretty good rundown of all the basics.. Going Electric for sure, Especially with the quality of the New brushless setups , price , selection..

I lookedd at HPI, Team Losi, and Traxxas , .. I think Im gonna go Traxxas, as it seems to be a good bang for the buck.. Losi is awesome, but a little to spendy for my first RC in 20 yrs.. So heres what Im looking at.. Im not gonna be pro racing, just messing around, racing buddies around the streets, in the dirt ,, jumping, etc etc and It has come down to 3 choices

    E Revo VXL 1/16

    Slash VXL 1/10

    --- http://traxxas.com/products/models/electric/5807slashvxl

    Rustler VXL

    --- http://traxxas.com/products/models/electric/3707rustlervxl

I realize the Revo is tiny, but seems like you get the best of everything right out of the box

The Slash is 2WD, but a bit bigger and can take more of a beating, also with a Lipo Battery might be just as quick as the Revo with twin 7.2s

The Rustler just got my attn for speed.. DOnt know much about it..

And This will be one of 2 or possibly 3... I would like a good all around, a good BIG 4x4, and something for the track/speed

The 2 they had there that were just insane were the Full size Revo Brushless , and the E-Maxx Brushless

    Thoughts??

  7. Ive been looking at a few .. These seem to be good quality and have a pretty good CFM rating .. Not wanting to go all crazy with huge 230 volt unit thats gonna need its own breaker, But it most likely will be stationary and never move anyways .. Just a nice sized one for the impacts and other air tools, shop needs etc

  8. I have a kenwood ddx516 in my malibu. Its actually got a surprisingly nice interface but can be a bit slow to respond. learning curve is not too bad on figuring it out. My only gripe is slow response time and that it didnt come with a remote. I had to buy one.

I'll check them out as well. I guess ( like with all electronics ) it'll always be on sale or a better model will be out 2 months after you purchase yours. So I'm hoping for a good black Friday or Christmas sale on double dins unless something pops up sooner. Nav would be cool but it's not much my iPhone can't do already. But if the price is right I'll take it ;)

  9. Yea in my op I mentioned that was one I was looking at. But the jvc has 5v preouts, Bluetooth and all iPod hookups with a great interface ( which is why I said "oddly jvc is in the mix ) with it while they are options only on the pioneer

Check out the jvc 830. It really is nice for the price especially when it drops to $399 like it does on occasion. I'm really holding off for the pioneer z120 hoping it will drop like it did a month or so ago on amazon for $899

  10. Buying my first one, but dont know a ton about whats good. Ive been looking at the JVC Arsenal AVX 830 , the Pioneer 4200 or any otheroptions available that are good, with a great Iphone interface

Are there any big specials that come around on the higher end stuff like a Z120 or anything aroung black friday or the holdays? I saw on Amazon the Z 120 was $899 shipped.. If there are deals like that Ill wait, but if not I wanna keep it Under $600 for BT, a descent preout, and a good IP4 interface
