  1. I have a Z edition 800.4 amp for 190 shipped. 85 x4 @ 4ohms and 125 x4 @ 2ohms
  2. Does anyone know if these speakers are available right now? Because I have been wanting to pick up a couple sets but they appear to be out of stock. Is this true? Or have they just not updated their website since they got more in stock.
  3. I actually got the amp for free from a friend. But so far i havent had any problems, i never looked up the power ratings so i didnt know it was only 2ohm stable. But ive been runnin it at 1 ohm with no problems. My dad told me that this amp is probably similar to some of the older rockford amps. But yeah, so far so good, with no complaints.
  4. Thanks for all the nice words. Ive had it for about a year, and just got it finnished up in time to get my license on the 21st of december. I actually got it for free from a friend, and have been working on it since. As far as vids i am super busy with school right now, but maybe this weekend i can get one. It has some major flex on the low note of "white girl".
  5. Okay here are the pics of the completed system. Sorry the car is a little dirty right now. The car: Interior: On to the system:
  6. Yeah sorry I haven't updated this thread. But the box and amp rack are all done and everything is playing. I have a couple little things left to do but it sounds great. I will take some pictures and get them posted up tomorrow.
  7. Awesome, im going to get the wood today, and the subs will be here tomorrow. I should have it all up and working next week. and ill try to get enough pics to make a build log. Okay, well i think im going to use the second design. Does anyone else have any opinion before i start the build?
  8. Well i ordered D4, so i was gunna wire the amp down to 1 ohm. Then just set the gain at 600 with my meter.
  9. Okay well i drew up another box to DC's specs but apparently that my be too big too according to OrionStang, so ill give this one a shot and if i need to ill design another one.
  10. Haha yeah, i have some 31's on mine and i would love to drop in a 350 in. But i dont think that will ever happen. Okay, i will draw up a new box. What would be a good tuning frequency? I was just aiming for 35Hz.
  11. Well i just ordered 2 D4 DC Audio lvl 2 8's for my car. The car is a 1991 suzuki sidekick, and the subs will be powered off of an Orion Xtreme 800 amp for now. I came up with this box design and was wondering what you thought of it, and if there were any changes that i should make before my subs arrive and i begin the box build. I will post pictures of everything as soon as i can, once photobucket opens up. But the box is 1.73^3 net, and tuned to 35.61 hz with 16.18^2 inches of port per cubic foot.
  12. I already have a barely used bag of fiberglass cloth, would it be best to buy another pack of cloth or is chopped mat better.
  13. http://www.designsofsteel.com/old%20vinyl%20door%20panel.JPG Thats what the door pannel looks like, i am going to get rid of the magazine holder at the bottom and build my pods to fit there. Sorry for all of the newbish quetion but about how much resin and bondo will i need to buy? Will a quart of resin be enough?
  14. Okay, well i pretty much have everything figured out now but im still confused about how to attch it to the door. Most of what i have seen on here is building seperate pods that fit into some type of stock location, and are screwed or glued down. But my door pannels are very simple, just a flat piece of 1/4 wood. So im wondering if i build the pods seperately and then mount them to the pannel, or fiberglass them all toghether to the door pannel. I would prefer to just fiberglass them straight to the door because i would be able to make them look "seamless" but im not sure if it matters which way.
  15. Bump for a way to make the the baffle to hold the speakers.
  16. Thanx for the help. I think i am definently going to try the pods but now i need some help on where to get the pieces of wood to hold them. I want an oval piece with two holes for 6.5" speakers. Its kind of hard to explain, i will try and draw somthing up. What would the best way to get these be?
  17. So if i build the pods firing up that would be the best bet?
  18. Okay well im slooowly working on my system and i was starting to wonder about my front half now. The car is a 91' Sidekick. For the rear i have some custom panels made with Rockford Punch 6x9's. And for the front stage i was going to just put some RF 4" in the stock location, which is in the front of the dash firing toward the floor. But today i was thinking about it and RF 6.5" are the same price as the 4" so i began thinking about putting in door pods with 1 or 2 6.5" in each door. So my question is will the door pods with the speakers down low still work well for front speakers? And would all of the extra work be worh it over just filling the stock location with 4"?
  19. Well im going to build it at 1.6 cu. ft. and tuned to 35hz according to the RE box calculator.
  20. Would it even be worth it to build a ported or bandpass box over a sealed box? will i really get much more out of it? Like i said i have never built either before so i need some help.
  21. Okay, well i guess i need to get a new amp.... So anyways im ready to build the box now and i have the supplies. So what would be good for this set-up? As far as cubic footage and tuning? Oh and i will probably end up with a rockford 300-1.
  22. Its just a cheap amp, but it pushes the sub fine from what i can tell. If i turn the gain all the way up it the sub overdrives so i turn it to about mid way and it seems fine. But to answer your question im not sure what brand it is.
  23. Okay well im just building a temporary set-up with some stuff that i have laying around. And i currently have my 12" alpine type s in a 1.5^3ft. sealed box. It hits the high bass notes great, but i can barely hear it in the lows. So i am going to try and build a ported box to put it into, but i am not sure what i should tune the box to. I have never built a ported box before so this is all new for me. And it is being powered with a 360 watt amp.
