  1. id like to nominate my self these r the links to my build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/111678-my-build-1971-vw-racing-beetle-1-of-2/ http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/111679-my-build-1971-vw-racing-beetle-part-2-of-2/ sorry to all thoes who i bothered trying to get this posted up. its working now. thanks all!!!
  2. ok so heres part two i hope it wasnt hard to find. but this is the rest for right now till i get some vids together another pic of the carb and alt i think that wire is like 10 gage haha its small but it works just fine. that other wire is just the charging light gotta keep the water out thoes big black tubes are the oil breathers which im gonna change out and get a better looking junction box. the one on there now is a plain box its custom made but it looks like an outlet box blahh better look at the 6.5s they r mounted just under the dash just out of the way. there was no other spot for them and the doors arent deep enough. aftermarket steering wheel. that big black button u c thru the steering wheel is the horn. its one of thoes classic sounding horns. its cool fuzzy dice wooo classic... that plate is alumnium as well as the knobs custom made in a machine shop as u can c the wiring is somewhat of a mess but thats tupical of most these beetles actually. hopefully ill b able to clean it up good thats my gas tank haha the only thing between me and the car infront of me haha.its 11 gallons and costs 35$ to fill up better than my truck which is 110$ i think this guy right here is the man haha. it kinda defines the car.. badass.. it sits on top of a hurst sport shifting stick these seats are from a rabbit if i remember correctly. there a little taller than the stock ones and are alot more comfortable. the covers are just simple ones from autozone till i get real racing seats but there comfortable none the less these r my pedals ha which my feet are too small to fit on. to get to the gas i have to put my foot behind the break pedal which by the way has nearly 6 inches of travel which 5 of thoes inches do nothing lol mayb needs some adjusting if u look close u can c the licenceplate covers are a chain link also from autozone haha. i like the look the rims are not stock but idk where there from. there a 4 stud converted style. there 15 inch which i might go to a 17 possiably but i like the look ofthe beefy tires on the back not that it matters but thats my other rider there the silver dodge. i had all this audio stuff in there at one time. the color in going to paint it is like a candy red its the same darkness as whats on there thats going where the red is now and its also going over a quicksilver metalic paint. which is going to b the base for the entire car this is the final pic i have so far. im also gonna add some vids pretty soon so keep a look out. i hope u liked it. if u have any questions i dont mind answering. ik its rare to find a project similar to this but i have some stock parts or if u need help with ur build id b more than happy to tell u what i know.
  3. hi im 18 and i purchased this car not too long ago. it was already pretty sweet but i wanted to add a little more to it so i decided to put a system in it. i have two Rockford fosgate 10" shallow mounts (p3s) i run a mono 500 watt alpine amp. which altho small it really pushes them subs really good its wired to 2 ohms. i have a 1 farad capacitor which dosent do much but it helps clean up the transitions between big note differences. i have an alpine cde 102 head unit. i use kenwood 6x9s in the back and 6.5 in the front. i hope to do more to the car soon. i have now a 55 amp alternator conversion which is better than the stock 25 amp "generator" i also have racing stinger pipes on it and a webber progressive carb. things i am doing soon is re painting a candy red over a quick silver metalic to go with the basic theme already presented just more fun. im also doing disk break conversion kit and eventually nicer chrome rims. so these are a few pics of the first stages of the car ive already done some small things to change it a little bit. the system the alt, carb, and a few cosmetics like the shfting knob which i think is sick and the fizzy dice. anyway hope u like it!!! ps after finishing i was notified that i had too many picks so im going to have a part two. sorry if its inconvient this is how the car looked the day i picked it up first things first to build a box. im gonna wrap eventually in leather or somthing but i have to get nice stuff so this will do for now these are the kenwood 6.5 3 ways test fit webber progressive carb i believe its 32 to a stage 2 of 36 but i could b wrong. also to the right of it u c the new alternator conversion. small only 55 amp but it gets the job done this is the stinger offroad racing pipes they sound pretty sick. it reminds me of a subaru haha since this motor is the boxter design its just like them, but its loud and has a deep tone to it. also if u look closely u can c the tractor flap on it this is my battery its a cheaper one from autozone it was like 130 but it still puts out 1000 amps on a good day. i dont really want to put two in cuz the alt might not b able to keep up well enough so i figured just get a big one. the stock one is like 3x smaller its a 350 amp like a tractor battery so this does good this is my positive terminal which i will be upgrading the wire mainly for looks and well idk its somthing else to do. im also gonna rewire it a different path and make them shorter runs. close up of the battery this is my capacitor just a baby 1 farad but it does its job well enough. its not mounted right now but it goes in that spot just on the shelf right above it this is my alpine 500. which i think is verry under rated. ive had this amp for ooooo id say 2 years atleast and i beat the junk out of it. its been in 3 diff cars and it does great. this little guy has powered 2 15 dual vc kenwoods and it made em go hard haha. great amp these r my tiny 8 gage wires. ik its sad but they dont need to b any larger altho i might make them bigger just for looks this is my cde 102 which ive had for as long as i had the amp for and again it really works well. thoes two small switches u c are for the stereo and the amp. the one on the left bottom is for the stereo. i did that cuz there was a hole there already and cuz its hard to find a good switch power point on a 71 bug haha. but this takes up the hole nice. the other small one on the right top is for the amp. the others are for the lights and wipers. that steering wheel is not stock its about half the size of the stock one lol. im a verry large guy and it was kinda hard to fit. this one is a little harder to turn cuz theres no power steering but its all good. that center piece there was custom machined as well as the other knobs on the dash. under the cap it has a saying "i shouldnt tell u this but..." thoes r the 6x9 kenwood 4 ways. i decided to carpet there boxes cuz they were smaller and easy but idk if im gonna keep it like that. thats the final placement btw that box is ported the ports are facing up toward the rear window. its tuned to somthing like 36 i think. u cant c the cap cuz its just cut out of the pic bit it would b just to the bottom left. its right above the battery every car this amp has been in it was hidden so i figured id keep the tradition going i also wanna put that cap under with the battery and get a diff volt meter thats the only reason y its out like it is this is part one of two i apparently have too many pics oops. so im just gonna have a part two hopefully its not too inconvient sorry.
  4. my car is almost ready to run!!
