well as i stated, my sub will be low passed at 80hz, so i would like these to take over from there, i dont know how far i can go up before you start getting other sounds besides bass mixed in, but i would like to maybe cross them at 350-400 maybe? im not sure what most people cross them at so im just guessing would an sa-8 or even an sundown e-8 play up to 300hz? them are the 2 woofers i am looking at using

maybe im misunderstanding the purpose of mid bass, but i dont want vocals or anything coming out of them, just a higher bass frequency than my subs play to fill in the mid range some more, my vocals get loud enough, but it needs more mid bass.

i had a dodge dakota extended cab, gonna be running a IA DP 21 sub in the back, and i have ID CTX 6.5 inch comps in my doors, no rear speakers, but i have a 4 channel amp (mb quart 4.125) so i thinking about doing a center console for some more mid bass in a sealed box. what are some good mid bass 8" woofers that can take 125 watts at 4 ohm, or better yet 250 watts at 2 ohms? also what frequency would you bandpass mid bass woofers at? im assuming start them off where my subs leave off, which would be 80hz, but how high should i have them play? 500hz? 800hz? ive never done dedicated mid bass woofers, so im new to this part. my budget for the woofers is probably 50-100 bucks, i dont want to spend a ton of money on this.

yeah ill just go with the 21" sub, simpler and less headaches that way. it just makes me nervous coming from 2 15's, but i think i am overthinking it, i mean it is a small cab truck, were not talking a suburban or full size van here, its just a dodge dakota extended cab, it should get very loud.

i just did some quick calculating, width wise, it would be very very close, i have MAX 47 inches to work with, and if i do center port on top and the 2 18's on the front, that only leaves 1 inch on either side to spare, cause the port has to be 9 inches wide to get enough port area, the specs im coming up with are 10.37 cubes after displacements, with 130 sq inches of port area which figures out to be 12.58 sq inches per cube. so if i do the 18's i would be running them bare minimum as far as enclosure specs go... if proper i would like to do like 14 cubes and alot more port area. everyone has told me that if you try to stuff 2 18's in a small box, you would be better off to go with 15's in a proper enclosure.

ok so i have it narrowed down to the BL 18's or a IA DP 21, now i know the 18's would be louder, im just looking at the space in the back of the truck thinking no way its gonna happen, i mean cubic foot wise i have enough, but physical space is where im concerned. if i put the 2 18's facing forward, i would have no room to do port on top because the 2 18's would take up the whole front of the box leaving no room for the port. if i could find a way to make the 2 18's work that would be sick.. and cost about as much as the dp 21, maybe a bit more. my max dimensons are 45 wide, 15 deep and 35 high, so that is only 11 cubes before any displacements, which isnt enough for a proper box with 2 18's. i may just have to go with the 21.

i liked the AQ's but i want to try something different now, they really didnt hit the lows as hard as i would of liked, i dont have enough air space for 2 18's in a proper box. i think im over analyzing this anyway, its been like 5 months since ive had any bass, so to be honest even if the DP 21 is just as loud, i would still be impressed because to be honest i dont really remember how loud my old system was.

they have roughly the same cone area..the DP21 has 346 sq inches and the 2 15's have 353 sq inches, so there practically equal in cone area, but power will be double, and the box will be 8.5 cubes after displacements using all my space, so i have the room for it, and i have a kinetic hc2000 under the hood and will have a dc power HO alt, so ill have to electrical to support it, i just dont know how much louder it would be, i always hear that more cone area is better than more power, which scares me in this situation cause the cone area is about the same. i never got my old setup metered, but it did seem pretty loud, i do have a video of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KM5oZI0Q4PA&feature=channel_video_title

ok so back in january i crashed my 02 dodge dakota, insurance totaled it and payed it off, now im buying another dodge dakota and this one is a 2005. my radio, speakers, battery, wiring and all of that stuff that was in my old dakota will fit into this one, the only thing im not sure on is the subs. i was running 2 AQ sdc2.5 15's off a AQ1200D in my old dakota, and before i crashed it i was planning a wall build to do 4 sa-12's on a AQ2200D. but im looking at the extended cab portion of this newer dakota and its a bit smaller then my old one, but at the same time i still want to be louder then my last setup... i think my max safe dimensions are 45 wide, 15 deep (i could go deeper but i like my leg room) and anywhere up to 35" high. i still plan on running the AQ 2200D amp, but i dunno what to do about subs. my only requirement is that it fits into those dimensions, and gets louder then my last setup. any suggestions on what i should do? ohh and i forgot to add, i pretty much listen to rap, specifically decaf's music 90% of the time, the other 10% would be rock/metal the one idea i was toying around with was a IA DP 21" but i dont know if that would be louder than my last setup, i really dont have alot of extra money so i cant just buy something and find out it isnt gonna be loud enough.

i live in northern new hampshire where average temperature in the winter is like 0 degrees and is can regularly get down to 20 below and i bump all winter long, i havent had any problems as of yet, im not saying it definitely wont hurt your equipment as im just going by my personal experience but you should be fine. and yes cold air makes subs louder, it is more dense then warmer air and therefore the subs can create more air pressure as far as i know, dont quote me on that though, thats what ive heard.
