  1. Youre in Jax FL? I will have to get a demo sometime, this looks sick.
  2. Lol if I was going for numbers this car would have to be walled. I have tried different subs in different positions, but firing back always seems to sound best. Getting a 150 out of the trunk of a grand marquis would take some serious spl voodoo. I am getting a truck or SUV soon that will be easier to get loud.
  3. This is not a bad suggestion. Being the president should not give you a blank check. Being a president is about doing what is right for the people who elected you, and blowing their money on expensive vacations is not the way to do this. It would be leading by example.
  4. Sealing off the trunk would be very difficult in this car, especially with 15s. You would have to do some sort of bandpas or something. I don't know if you guys have seen a crown vic/grand marquis trunk, but there is a huge gas tank hump. the pass thru to the cabin is only like 10 inches tall, and the seats don't fold down, so I don't think firing forward is an option. It sounds decent the way it is. Cancellation seems like it makes sense for what I am experiencing.
  5. That actually makes a lot of sense, i didn't think about cancellation. The waves could be bouncing back and creating a "dead spot" up front when the windows are up. It is extra noticable on the lows. Also, the car itself has some funky acoustics I think (weird trunk design and pass thru to the cabin. Higher bass seems to come in the cabin along the roof, low bass seems to come up from the floor). My gf has a camry with 2 12's and it sounds about the same everywhere in the car windows up or down.
  6. Possibly, but with windows down, the front seat is louder than the back.
  7. I have run a type r 15 in a much bigger box than the manufacturer recommends (4.5 ft ^3 @ 35 hz), on a Rockford t1000 constant power at 1 ohm (over 1300 watts) and it had no problems at all. Never got stinky or warm. I am no expert but I think 750 rms would be fine on a 600 rms sub if you set your gains properly. After impedance rise you wont be seeing the full power anyway.
  8. Hey everyone, I just had a question about windows up/down. I have a 2001 grand marquis with 2 15's sub/port to the rear. When in the front seat, the bass is loudest with the windows down. I generally understand that the window acts like a port, and I can feel the "pressure zone" when I put my head by the window. The other day when I let my buddy drive, I was sitting in the back, I noticed that when all the windows are up, the backseat gets much more violent. It is half as loud in the front sealed up and twice as loud in the back. Why does this make the back seat so much louder. Also, the box is about 10 cubes (outside dimensions) so it takes up nearly the whole trunk. Don't know if this could be a variable or not. Anyone with some expertise in this area want to chime in? I was just wondering what the "techical" explanation of this would be.
  9. Could someone PM me prices on the 3.5 k And also a Lvl 5 15 Shipped to 32223
  10. Is the lvl 6 a good music sub? I have heard the XL's are more musical than the lvl 5s. Is the lvl 6 just for SPL?
  11. That is a good thought, might as well experiment if its going to get chucked anyways! Maybe some 4 inch PVC?
  12. Thanks for the responses guys. What kind of airspace/port area would you guys recommend for this woofer? (In a regular ported box)
  13. The speaker is in a 1 ft box, so it is within Rockford's specs, it just has that tiny sealed box sound which I am not fond of. This is what I found on the Rockford website. I hope that this woofer will work for a 4th order, I have built sealed and ported boxes before but I have been wanting to do a bandpass for a while. Sealed Vb (min.) 0.75 cu. ft. Vb 1.00 cu. ft. 14. I recently hooked up a system in my girlfriends car. Nothing major, its just an older punch 500-2 and a punch p3 12. The sub came in a tiny sealed box (bought it secondhand), and I can't stand the weak output it has (Its also got crap for low end). I know this woofer could do alot better in a proper box. I was just wondering if someone who has experience with bandpasses thinks this would be a decent speaker for a 4th order? If not, I will just build a regular ported box. Any suggestions?
