  1. I have a budget however it is lower than the listed price on the AQ site. I was also looking for something cheaper than the listed price. Also I have a friend that says that some amps do not do rated and some amplifier brands and some name brands do not do rated is that true? As I do not exactly believe him on this I just want to hear this from other people. What brands do you guys suggest? My local audio shop says I should get one Alpine MRP-2000 watt rms amp. But I actually believe its just the same amount of money as the AQ amp. Also I don't think that I can actually buy from the forum classifieds because of my post count being to low.
  2. Hey all, I'm looking to buy some subs specifically HDC315-A Aluminum Coil Subwoofer Two of them at 1000 rms apiece. My question is is there an amplifier that can output 2000 rms and give the subs 1000 watts rms apeice? Or should I get 2 separate amplifiers and have them be 1000 rms apiece? I had an earlier thread about a setup I was suggested to get and this is the amp that was suggested to me was the AQ3500D.1 Amplifier. Now is there an amplifier that is cheaper than the listed price on the AQ site that can provide either 2000 rms or is there two single 1000 rms amplifiers that are cheaper than the site listed price?
  3. Unfortunately when I was told about the amp it was for a system that I would of loved to have but I have since then thought against it because I am now getting another car and I don't think I can afford both. BUT the dealer who I went to was smart enough not to tell me how much it was or how much it cost though them until I was ready to buy from them. The system I wanted was dual Orion HCCA's 15.4's and that Arc Audio Amp. I just thought that that amp would be good for the setup I wanted currently now. Or is it to much for the HDC312-A Aluminum Coil Subwoofer? Keep in mind that its a dual setup. But damn I guess for that price the dealer did not want me to look else were to purchase it they'd be loosing business. The local dealer also sells Audison but I have never heard anything from Audison neither Amps or speakers and if they make subs I have not heard them ever. But the local dealer says that they are their best lineup along with HertZ. How would the pioneers sound compared to the HDC315-A Aluminum Coil Subwoofer and would they hit harder than the HDC315's? How would one sound compared to my current setup? Well, that is nowhere near a fair comparison, and it's not even a comparison that can accurately be made. Enclosure and install are everything, having better and bigger subs does not mean it will hit harder. You're comparing a $140 12" to a $330 15". If you are going to shell out the cash, then yes, the AQ's have a great price point, especially for their performance. But you provided a budget, then seemed daunted when a setup actually cost that much, and then it's right back to thinking big again. Maybe a better question would be, what is it YOU'RE looking for from your setup? And then to follow that up, who will be building/designing the enclosure and who will be installing it? I should of realized that from the start I apologize for the unfair comparison. I am still new to car audio and I still ask questions so please go easy on me. The place I live is very ritzy and anyone with a nice car has subwoofers. And any big suv has dual or a single 15" sub in the trunk and it sounded real nice and it hit hard so I naturally assumed that the bigger the better and from here I find that to be different. I know that I compared a $140 12" sub to a $320 12" and I also compared it to my current setup the Spg 1000 watt rms sub in the custom H.O box but I did not get a comparison to my current setup. I just don't want to purchase a $140 sub break it in and have it not sound as good as the subwoofers mentioned. I'd would love to hear both the AQ sub and the Pioneer Champion subwoofer in person but there is no dealer for AQ atleast for around here and I know no one personally with the Pioneers to compare them. Both subs on 1000 watts RMS. If I could hear them then I could at least make a decision easier for me. But for now I rely on the people who have owned them to chime in and put their 2 cents in. Yes, I did provide a budget for my first post of $1500 but then I ran into the same problem as I did as when I first wanted to upgrade to my second system. Getting the subs are not a problem its getting an amp to power them. Any good amp that I need costs and exceeds my budget by just that much. That's why I asked to name a couple of amps and some cheap 1000 rms subs I asked about the Arc Audio Amp to see if it would work with the setup that pittross suggested for me. What I'm really looking for is an upgrade from my current setup and to add another subwoofer to my trunk because I can never get enough bass NEVER lol but I do know when to turn it down for people I'm not an asshole at night nor do I blast my music at stoplights. One thing I want but cant be done with what I want to my knowledge is to do the hair trick that just amazes me to no end but I seriously doubt that can be done. I know this has been said before and I think most people hate this is that I want a SQL setup but from my time lurking here I have read that does not exactly exist. I can build an enclosure as I made the H.O box for my current setup. To be honest I just followed the manual that the subwoofer came in to build the H.O box I'm not sure if that counts as a custom box. Installing it should be easy right? I already have the wires run 0 gauge to the disputer box which feeds to 4 gauge wire one going to each amp for my current setup. I have a friend who did system installation for 4-5 years and he cleaned up what I did wrong so I trust him and I don't feel like spending more money for my local shop for an instal. Will the DC 2K be able to power two subwoofers? Like the HDC312-A Aluminum Coil Subwoofer or the Pioneer Champions and the DC level 4? "Group" is simply the size of the battery. Group 31 batteries are larger than Group 34's. The length of the battery is usually the deciding factor (in the cases I've seen), with Group 31 batteries measuring around 13 inches long and Group 34 batteries measuring around 10.5 inches long. You have to measure your current battery and battery compartment to see what you can fit. Most websites give the dimensions of their batteries. Focal Utopia Be retail for $5000. My friends have told me that Selenium speakers get loud and sound good. I've never heard Hybrid Audio, and I've never heard of Oxygen Audio. Maybe TeamHT or someone else can help you with that. As for my suggestion, I'm like you in that, I prefer not to have the same thing as everyone else. But at the same time, you were running Hertz Dieci, which I believe is the lowest line of speakers they offer. I personally like the Hi-Energy and Mille series. So group is the size of the battery that makes more sense now. In the daylight (Its 2:53aM ATM) I will measure my battery and its compartment. When searching for an AGM battery it came up as the brand Optima is this accurate? If so my buddy suggested to get a yellow top for my car but my other friend has a red top under his hood for his system dual Kicker L7's and he says it works out great for him. However, one has a system and one is just for his off road rig which I think he has a yellow top under the hood. Oh SNAP! Focal Utopia Be retails for that much that equipment better be good for how much it costs. Lol I will look in to Selenium loudspeakers. It looks like for me the only way to purchase their speakers is though the internet. I'd much rather hear them in person to make a fair judgement on how they sound. I don't know much about oxygen audio but I have read the few posts about them and its quality is supposed to be superior to other brands so I've read. Yes, Hertz Dieci is the lowest line of speakers they offer but I did not have enough money for the higher upgraded versions of the speakers. I have heard the Mille and the Hi-Energy speakers and to be honest I was not really that impressed by them even when they were powered by an amp.
  4. How would the pioneers sound compared to the HDC315-A Aluminum Coil Subwoofer and would they hit harder than the HDC315's? How would one sound compared to my current setup? Use an AGM battery. I don't know if you can fit a group 31 in the front, but I have a group 34 under my hood. As for different brand speakers, I've personally only heard all the mainstream stuff. I've also heard Focal KRX3, and Utopia Be, but I'm sure you don't want to spend that much. However, I've heard good things about Selenium loudspeakers, Morel, and Hybrid Audio. This maybe a stupid question but how would I find out what group I have and what can fit under my hood? Also what does the grouping mean? I have heard that Focal is expensive but I have never heard of Utopia Be how much would they cost? I've also never heard of Selenium loudspeakers or Hybrid Audio how good are they speakers? What do you suggest? I've heard of Morel also they used to be at my local car audio shop but I haven't heard them in along time. I've been reading around and I have read about Oxygen Audio how good are they and where can they be bought in the US? How much would the Arc Audio amp cost and it is really that good? Why would none of the amps mentioned previously be comparable to this amp?
  5. I forgot to add can the pioneer champions really handle 1000 watts apiece? or am I underestimating the pioneer champions..?
  6. I use XS Power batteries, but there's also Kinetik, Optima, Deka, Stinger, Shuriken, etc. It's your choice, and it depends on what you can fit. DC has a good 2000 watt amp. I used to use Infinity for speakers, but now I use Audison/Hertz. Depends on what you're looking for. Is there a specific type of battery that I should use? As for the DC amp would that happen to be the DC 2.0k amp? Also ATM I am running HertZ Deici and stock speakers in the back. I was wondering if there was any other brands that would sound good. Really I want a brand that no one around where I live has and my local audio store has Audison and Hertz. My alternator is stock and it outputs 132 amps.
  7. Anyone at all that can provide anymore info? Please I would like all the help and info I can get I am still learning about this. Car audio is come to be a big thing in my life that makes me happy.
  8. I am in the process of doing the The Big Three upgrade but I have to save up to get the money to get the wire and the new battery terminals. Also what Battery do you suggest I get to put under the hood? As for the single 2000 watt amp I looked at my local audio shop awhile back at least 7 months ago they said I could go with the Alpine Mrp-2000 Watt amp here is the link MRP-M2000But when I went back more recently they had told me that I could go with a better amp an Arc Audio amp here is the link Arc Audio Amp What from DC would be good? I'm not good in pricing anything that I own or owned. Thats not a bad price but is there a cheaper way or am I going to spend 1500+? Or could I buy another of the same amp that I own and use it to power both subs? Alpine came out with this amp recently here is the link MRX-M100The amp puts out 1000 watts rms at 2 ohms now would that work for the HDC315-Aluminum Coil or am I going to have to buy that AQ3500D.1? Any amp that will do the job but at a lower price? Budget System ftw even though I said 1500-2000 budget I'm looking for the cheapest lol. Now how about speakers? Anyone want to give any suggestions for speakers?
  9. Hello All, So I'm pretty new here to car audio being 3 years with my second system and I would like to upgrade to something better. This is what I currently have so far: Alpine MRP-1000 (Amp) Boston Acoustics Spg in the H.O custom box (Subwoofer) Kenwood Kiv-BT900 (Deck) S.S Super Sport 400.1 (Speaker Amp) HertZ Dieci (Front dash Tweeters) HertZ Dieci (Door 6x9's) Stock Infinity (Rear Door 6.5") So what I have so far is a 1000 watt subwoofer system with a however much the amp actually puts out system. I would like to upgrade both but I dont know what route to take for either. I would like to add another woofer and another 1000 watts so I have 1000 going to each sub making it a 2000 watt system. I've been reading that DC is a very good company for subwoofers and I am looking to have a budget of like $1500 to spend on subs and maybe 600 to spend on speakers. Now what would I need to power these subwoofers and speakers? So if someone could help me out that would be just great. I am also very interested In doing the hair trick however much you of an rms you need to accomplish that. The car I drive is a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and has space for two 12's, two 15"s or one 18" subwoofer. I would like something that no one else has and everyone around where I live has either the following brands and including speakers. Alpine, JL Audio, Pioneer, Beyma, Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, Polkaudio, Hertz, Audison, Morell, Kenwood, Powerbass, JVC, ect. Something like Orian, FI Audio, Sundown Audio I really like or anything I know no one around here has or heard of.
  10. A single 18? I kinda wanted to for double the sound output. I was thinking either 2 12's or 2 15's I don't use my trunk space a lot but unfortunately my spare tire is in there for the time being soon it will be on my roof. As far as mids and highs I can wait to save money for them but the budget is low real low like about 400 dollars for a pair of 6x9 and 400 for a pair of 6 1/2's and how ever much good tweeters are. Then I will need an amp to power them. Currently I have a SS Super Sport 400.4 amp powering all door speakers with the tweeters disconnected. An FI BTL is that like an SPQ or a mix of sound quality and SPL? Which one exactly as I see that there are many choices for a BTL. And for t3 audio there are also many types of subs I saw the t3 Audio T.2000 series and I liked that. Lets be clear here I want 2000 rms to each sub not 4000 to each lol just want to clear up any confusion anyone may have.
  11. A capacitor wont help me in anyway? Why not? I thought that they were to help systems with lots of power. Well if it can not help me what do you suggest I do? How about you suggest some mids and highs and amps I should buy to power them.
  12. How about speakers for my mids and highs? Also what would I have to do to do the hair trick that really interests me.
  13. With that particular set-up using the Alpine amps you would want the 12.4 HCCA's so you could wire each amp to 2 ohms, also with that a capacitor would do nothing, for 4000rms I would do a mid to high 200's alternator(from Mechman or DC Power) and 2-3 D3100's in the trunk The alpine 2000 I thought is a 2000 rms at 2 ohm or would I have to wire something in the sub to make a 4 ohm sub into a 2 ohm sub? Also why would a capacitor do nothing my friend and my local audio shop seems to think that a capacitor would make a difference. I've heard of green machine alternators are they any good? What is D3100 is it an amp? How much does it put out or is it a battery? I currently have 132 stock alternator. Thank you for the welcoming to the forum please suggest a good sub for me if possible. Is HCCA all that great? When I was looking into getting them awhile back I noticed that somewhere I read that one 10" Orion HCCA sounded like one 12" and so fourth ect. But I also read that if I go with them I should be prepared to lose sound quality. Z Series v.2 15" Subwoofer <-- Is this the subwoofer your talking about? Z Series v.2 15" Subwoofer How big of an alt are we talking and what kind of battery? My friend swears by Optima Yellow tops. But he uses that for off roading. What do you mean it can handle that power alone? Please elaborate.
  14. Hey guys I'm new here and I'm kinda new to systems as well and I have some questions to ask the masters. I am looking to upgrade my system to a 3000 to 4000 watt system from my 1000 system. Now I went to my local audio shop a real long time ago so I don't know if this information I'm about to give you is up to date in terms of systems. The system they could only get for me that was 4000 watts was 2 12.2 Orian HCCA's with 2 Alpine 2000 watt amps, with a capacitor of course. Now how good is that system in this day and age? I'm not looking for the newest system with the newest subs on the market but I defiantly want the loudest around here where I live. We get some small friendly sound competitions around here and I mean small. Basically I want something that no one else has and everyone around where I live has either the following brands and including speakers. I already have a system and this is what I currently have. Alpine 1000 watt amp Boston Acoustics SPG in its factory recommended High Output Ported Enclosure SS Super Sport 400.1 Deck- Kenwood KIV BT900 Dash- Hertz Deci Tweeters Front doors- Hertz Deci 6x9 Coaxle Rear doors- Stock 6 1/2 Zero gauge wire from the battery to the distributor which branches off to 2 4 gauge wires. Strangely enough I do not have a capacitor nor have I done the Big Three. I'm looking for 2 subs within the rms of 1800 watts or 2000 watts apiece or something close in that range. I think awhile back when I was looking for the new subs I saw only 3 which fit that description. Sundown Audio Nightshade, Orion HCCA, and FI Audio subwoofers. And I'm not sure about Ampfliers or Capacitors and I am good with my current deck because it was only bought a year ago so no need to replace that. I am also looking to upgrade my speakers also for the mids and highs however im not exactly willing to mod my car to fit any extra tweeters. The car I drive is a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and has space for two 12's, two 15"s or one 18" subwoofer. I don't exactly have a budget just yet but im guessing its in going to be in the 2000-3000 range but I would love to keep it as low as possible if possible not to exceed 1500 as saving up would be way to long with the current job I have. Also as said I care about how loud my car is but I would also like to at least to have some sound quality to my system. If there is a sub that can do SPL and SQ then that would be the subwoofer for me I am also VERY interested in doing the famous Hair Trick if I could do that I would be done with my car audio dream and I can focus on building my jeep up but because I love Sound it comes first.
