  1. While that helps it does not tell me how much it puts out at 13.8 volts

no one can give you an exact measurement man. Cuz no one has your exact install,,,,plus it will go up or down with voltage fluctuation and box rise. An approximation is the best your gonna get without buying one and clamping it yourself.

Ah okay, I'll buy a skar 2500.1 and clamp it after I get my build started.

  2. I forgot to mention in the opening post that I have about a $300 - $500 budget for speakers. I don't know what passive or active means so if someone could explain that that would be great. As said I'd like to have 6 sets of tweeters IE, 2 in the dash, 2 in the front dash A-Pillar, and 2 in the rear back seat A-pillar or in the trunk area where the subs will be going. I have Hertz and I was not to impressed when I first got them. I only have Hertz tweeters and a pair of Hertz 6x9's in the front both Deci series, I know its the lowest of the low in the Hertz category but they are decent, but I want something different.

When I went to the local audio shop they showed me both JL Audio speakers and Morel Maxis, and Tempo. Both of which speakers sounded better than the Hertz Hi-Energy series.

But the reason for posting is because I would like to have something different other than what they carry I don't want to be in the same group of people that have what the local audio store carries. Its just not my can of Pepsi lol.

I have looked at O2 Audio, Oxygen Audio, Crenscendo Audio, Beyma online but I only have videos on youtube that probably don't the speakers any justice. But if anyone has had any of these speakers please chime in as I would like to purchase them so my Jeep can be different from any other car around.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Hi all,

I am looking for some new speakers for my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with the Premium Infinity Sound System. Well I don't exactly have the entire infinity system out of my Jeep yet. Let me run though as to what I currently have and what I will be upgrading to the future.

Here is the list of what I have currently:

    1. Autotek SS 400.4 (Current Speaker Amp)

    2. 1 pair of Hertz Deci Tweeters (Dash Tweeters stock location)

    3. 1 pair of Hertz Deci 6x9's (Front door speakers)

    4. 1 pair of STOCK Infinity 6.5's (Rear Door)

    5. x1 Alpine MRP0-1000 (Subwoofer amp at 4 ohms 600 watt at 2 ohms 1000 watt's rms)

    6. Boston Acoustics SPG Oval subwoofer 13.5" (1000 watt rms @ 2 ohms)

    7. Ran 0/1 awg though Jeep

    8. KIV-BT-900 Kenwood Multi-Media Head Unit.

This is what I'm upgrading to EXCLUDES Speakers:

    1. x2 AudioQue HDC 3.0 15" (1000 watt rms @ 2 ohms)

    2. x1 Bass Clef Series BC3500 (Subwoofer amp)

    3. PowerBastards 110 amp at idle (220 @ 1200 RMS)

    4. Pioneer DEH-80PRS (Head Unit)

That's it for my current setup its not bad but I want to upgrade as I have been rocking the same speakers for 2 years and for the sub and amp I have been rocking them for more than 4 years and its time to upgrade.

As for the system coming I need new speakers to be able to keep up with the demands of my new up coming system. But I don't know where to start for new speakers. I have been to my local car audio shop and they have been very helpful to me but its just not what they have is what I want. They carry Audison, Morel, Hertz, JL Audio, Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer, Ect... I would like something that no one else around my has and not just what my local audio store sells, BestBuy, PC Richard & Son, Target, Walmart they all sell things that everyone has around here. I'm looking for something that no one else has like O2 Audio, Oxygen Audio, Crenscendo Audio, Beyma, ect...

If someone could please recommend me some good speakers that are not listed from the list of my local audio store, BestBuy,Pc Richard and son, ect.. I would be very grateful to them. I would like Oxygen Audio or O2 audio (not sure if its the same cause there's two different websites because no one has them around me but I don't know what type to choose from theres Reflex and Spiral. I don't know which one is better and there is apparenlty more than one website for Oxygen Audio and O2 Audio, I'm not sure if they are the same or not I just like the speakers, Not many videos online though for oxygen and O2 audio.

Also, If someone could suggest a good amp to power the AudioQue (SoundQubed) HDC 3.0 Subwoofers besides the Bass Clef Series BC3500 I was thinking maybe two seperate amps either 2 AQ2200D, 2 Alpine MRX-M240, 2 AQ1200D or 1 AQ3500D.

I'd like to do a front stage 3 way 6x9's in the front doors, component 6.5's in the rear door with separate tweeters, and I don't exaclty know what to put up front for the dash speakers (2.5" tweeters was in stock location) I want to put 6 tweeters in my Jeep 2 in the front dash, 1 tweeter in each of the windshield a Pillar and 1 tweeter in each of the trunk space pillars. (lots of tweeters o_O lol)

    Thanks in advance.

  4. am i the only one who read the op and giggled if thats what your friend wants he doesnt want sq he wants ghetto fabulous

I read the OP and thought that it's going to be darn hard to get a decent system for $1,000. Bass for $1,000? Yes.

Entire system? That's going to be tough. Like others have said, buy off the net, not from any brick and mortar shop to pull it off. JMO.

yeah the only way to get an entire system for 1000 bucks is to check out the classifieds or look at your buddy craigs list. you can easily piece together a nice sounding system for 1000 buying on craigslist

Is craigslist really dependable for Car Audio? I mean buying cars is one thing but car audio equipment?

$1000 is a very modest budget, especially when refering to the words "sound quality" SQ builds are very high dollar. Beings as a lot of mid-top end SQ amps run half to 3/4 of that budget. SQ and having a complete system that gets loud and sounds decent are 2 different playing fields.

Yes that is very true my friend has only heard my system and my friends system so hes very limited knowledge when it comes to Sound Quality and systems.

honestly i think the guy just wants something loud and clear. He doesnt know what true SQ is if he just got into car audio. Therefore i dont think hes looking for real SQ i bet hes just looking for better than stock...

Honestly i'd say 1000 is a pretty decent budget for a good little sound system. The only thing i think thats going to kill the budget if he has to get an alt.

The more I think of it the more right you are. My system is far from sound quality nore does it stand up to any of the systems on this website but I like my system. He has no idea what TRUE sound quality is and neither do I but I've been in the car audio world since 2008 not very long IMO. His current system is all stock. Stock speakers, Stock head unit, Stock everything.

What would you recommend for speakers, amp, sub for $1000?

What are your suggestions to an Amp, Sub, and Speakers? I'm well aware that its going to be hard on a $1000 budget but I trust SMD to thow out suggestions out to help out. Whats a good site besides AudioSavings.com and if I go there where are the reviews on the product.

  6. i would never recommend anything hifi line. There are multiple options that he could use and go for and get the most out of the system. I would highly suggest a bigger alternator, i ran 1500rms on a 90 amp alternator with 2 batteries i dropped to 12.8-9.

Thats what I was told also not to get anything from the HIFI line because they do not do rated RMS. I ran 1000 watts on my Mazdas 70 Amp Alternator and the alternator died when I was driving. Not the best experience.

  7. my friend got 2 skar vvx 12's in ported box on 1 hifonics brz1200.1d on stock electrical and it hits nice ..429 for subs and box from skar page here and 149 for amp on ebay

he can get 1 12 or something and prob sound nice. i was highly impressed from the 2 12s

The Skar VVX subwoofers lool beautiful and I will tell my friend about them. Do you have a video of the VVX's on youtube?

  8. Don't go to any car audio shops or anything like that.. Go on eBay, there are trusted seller on there and you can save some serious $. Just make you that you know what you are buying. Since he's on that budget.. This is what I would recommend.. just me though. Hifonics HFi1000.1D amp, 2 Sundown Audio E series D4 12"s, Alpine type SPR series 6x9s, Alpine SPR 6.5s, and a JL Audio JX360/4 amp. You could get all of that for $831.86, people will say.. Don't buy from eBay. I purchase things for my car off of eBay and have done so for years..never once had a problem. Just make sure you look into everything before hitting purchase. Also, at ANY car audio store or and online store all of that would go WELLLLLLLLLLLL over $1000..probably somewere in the $1500 to $2000 range.

My local car audio shop is vwery generous to me they usually give me 10%-15% off all their products and they are very helpful to me they have answered every question I have thrown at them, Plus I like to support my local stores as its a family owned store not some corporation owned store. The reason why I don't go through them is because my friend wants a non name brand system I.E he wants something that no one around here has. I will only go to the store to get a dash kit from them in my ways to support my local shop. I have looked at the SundownAudio site and I did not see the Sundown Audio E Series D4 12's only in D4. I saw the RMS output on the Sundown Audio E Series and my friend would like 600 watts RMS or more.I have looked at the Alpines and JL's but he would like something non name brand but just as good. I have no problem buying off of Ebay just as long as its Pay Pal on Ebay its good and safe as long as its though Pay Pal. I was once told that Hifonics HIFI series does not do rated power not sure if its true or not. Confirm or Deny?

  9. Hey all,

I have a friend that recently got into car audio because of me and now he wants a system. But he has a $1000.00 budget for an all sound quality system. I pointed him into the direction of Skar Audio, Audioque ( Now SoundQubed), DCSoundLabs, Cresendo, and Obsidian Audio.Hes all about sound quality but wants his system to loud. but mostly sound quality. Heres the catch he has a small car a 1999 Ford Escort ZX2 2.0 Liter Z-Tec Engine with a 80 Amp Alternator. Now I can already see that the alternator will be a big problem with how many watts he wants to run, which is 1000 watts to 1500 watts. He wants to Keep trunk space and was thinking of 2 subs or 1 sub in a sealed box due to size constrants. I showed him Cresendo Audio and he likes the 6.5 components he has heard them VIA Youtube but has not heard them in ear life just Youtube. He would like to turn his rear deck which houses his 6x9 speakers into four 6x9 speakers instead of two 6x9 speakers. So he would like 4 6x9's 1-2 subs a single Amp to power the subwoofers and an amp for the speakers for a cheap buget of $1000.00. I have yet to take him to my local Car Audio Shop but he has said he would like to have a non name brand system I.E Alpine, Morel, JL Audio, Kicker, Audison, Hertz, All that is what the local audio store carries.

If anyone can recommend a good setup for an Amp, Subs, Speakers four 6x9's and two 6.5's, and an amp for speakers that would be much helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

  10. Hi,

I was told that Kevin from Skar Audio could help (via thread prior) (I tried to email you but I have not gotten an email back) me build a system for a friend. This is going to be his first system so he does not need anything over the top so no 15's or 18's. He gave me a really low budget of only $500 dollars for 2 subs an amp and a sealed box. He wants a good sounding subwoofer but wants the sub to have kick. I've seen your subwoofers on youtube and I like what I see. I think my friend will like what he get when he hears the skars in action with his own ears. My question to you is: Could you suggest 2 of your subwoofers 12" and an amp for the low budget of $500? My E-Mail is [email protected] or please pm me if you can help me out.

    Thank you for your help.

  11. Hey all,

Im actually not posting for me, This is for my friend who wants to get into car audio. You people helped me so I thought maybe you can help my friend out. Keep in mind this is going to be his first system and does not want to spend that much and that also means he does not need a super over the top system. He drives a 5.2L V8 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 110 AMP Alternator. He already has a deck but its not the best deck in the world its a Sony CDX-GT35UW the good thing about that deck is that it comes with a subwoofer control. He is after a SQ subwoofer but he also wants it to have kick so good sound quality and loud all at the same time I'm guessing that 2 subwoofers will be good . I already suggested a system that my friend was selling but I dont know if it will perform to his expectations. That system was a single 12" Type R in a sealed box I'm guessing its a 4 ohm but I'm not sure at the current moment being powered by an old Alpine MRD-M605. He was also selling his deck but I cannot read the model number from the picture. Here's the catch, He has a budget of $500 for both the subs and the amp and he wants a sealed box (No idea why). The system mentioned before was well within his price range. (If the system above is good please tell me)

I was thinking something maybe not so mainstream not name brand that will preform as good as name brand or perhaps better. I don't know how good the non main stream brands are but if its mentioned on this site then it must be good. He just asked me to see what other options he had and I offered to post on this site for him.

So heres what we are dealing with:

Cheap $500 budget (Subs and amp)

Loud, clear, sounds good. (Wants a strong kick)

Wants sealed box (Again no idea why)

Two subwoofers to gain that kick (Or one)

    Non name brand options.

    Thanks in advance.
