Since no one is going into why you need a recone, Ill explain that for you.
Your basket is bolted to the motor, often times to get these bolts out you have to remove the current softparts off the basket. Which means cone, surround, dustcap, spiders, voice coil.
Granted some baskets allow you to remove them from the motor without undoing all that, BUT you still need to remove the parts from the old basket to put them on the new basket.
The high strength CA Glue that is used to bond the spiders to the baskets is not going to allow you to remove the spiders without damaging them, no matter how hard you try the parts will not be reusable.
If you damage the spiders anyway you got to replace them, in order to replace the spiders alone you would have to remove the coil from the cone just so you can can access to the voice coil former to slide the spiders on from the top side of the coil. But before you do that you would have to remove all that old glue off the voice coil, and its not worth all that effort and time to clean that coil off and hope you dont damage its windings, or leadout wires, or deform it.
Your carbon cone should be reusable as well as the dustcap if its carbon fiber, and even polypropylene caps can be reused at that point but the time to clean them off vs a few bucks for a new one just not worth it, now thats completly different when your talking about more expensive composite and carbon fiber cones and dust caps.
After your all said and done a new recone reusing your cf cone is not going to be much more expensive then trying to rig the speaker back together with a new basket and surround, and after its all said and done its like a brand new woofer
thanks mate, all makes sense, I wasn't sure if there was a way to get the spiders unglued without them being ruined.. no probs ill buy a re-cone and new basket and get it assembled for me...

Cheers for the quick reply, its a carbon fibre cone

I think u got the ratio backwards. All the ones I have seen the rear cha pm er was smaller then the front
it appears that i have so please disregard my design lol , working on a new one
thanks!
-
I have but it changes the port length etc and peaks of the chart at 25 and 50hz. but i have never really trusted those programs for a bandpass
-
hey mate, do you know vloume and tuning as im running a similar setup? cheers bud\
edit : sorry i was so excited i saw this i forgot to say sick ass job man!! love it!
-
I,ve read thing where you do not want the outer chamber tuning to be exactly an octave above the inner tuning.
i was actually told the exact opposite, as i said ive had no experience with these enclosures before so im just going off other info

Hi guys, if anybody with experiance with 6th orders could check this design for me that would be great (please forgive my dodgy sketchup)
The box is for 4 lvl6 18" subs running off 4 5.0k. the rear chamber should be around 35ft^3 @ 25hz, the front chamber is 13ft^3 @ 50hz, this is for a ground pounder not a burp car so loud lows are what im looking for here.
The "shell" of the box is alot thicker then 1 layer of 3/4mdf just using this for internal only. My main concern is port postion and sizing, from what i have read and been told port speed can make a big difference here.
Any ideas or input (even its to tell me it sucks) is wanted.
thanks - from australia
oh i have conerted to inches for you guys aswell

Hi ive got 4 dc 5k and a 300 amp excessive amp alt, i wanna run 16 volts, how many d1600 do i need, i read earlier that 1 d1600 will do 3000 watt daily so if i run 3 per amp would that cover me o.k, it will be used in comps but mainly for daily driving? cheers. p.s do you have a distributor is australia?
-
4 XL 18's with lvl 5 upgrades
and my mates photoshop effort (with me as the handsome devil lol)
all the way from Australia!
-
sorry to re hash this, but to save me starting a new topic providing my charging system is up to it the 5.0k will run .5 ohm load with no worries on a daily basis? ive got two dc xl 18's that are dual 2 ohm and wanted to use the 5.0k but before i buy just wanted to check this issue... cheers
i was thinking two of these per amp with a 300 amp alt would that be sufficient? or is a battery aimed at car audio more suitable eg xs power, kinetic etc
