never got a chance they kept blowing on me i was snapping the neck joints on the vcs not burning them. i think it was caused by high power clip. anyways they are real stiff and dont like clipping. switched to xls and got way louder and more musical. its your call though. Id get another amp and go for it.

Curious whats this going in? whats your electrical like? what type box, subs up port back? subs up port up? etc

You wont have enough power i had 3500 rms per lvl 5 and they laughed at it. also the 5 is picky whith its enclosures i tried 2 different boxes with them and didnt get what i wanted. in fact blew 3 of them. imo the xl is dcs best bang for the buck. they are musical and get loud.check out my other posts. i play music all day and burp a 154 with no smell and only 7k even tho they will take alot more. Alpine has a sd 12k on 2 and does fine.

YEA it sucked sq took way too long. bill and a couple other judges said they would be done at 2 or 3 lol yea right. and jg23 you put up good numbers bro for just 2 woofers and your power plus you took best truck at the show. i would of voted for you on that too. ill be at the next show and hopefully we all can demo oh and Rays shit was devastating! got alot of work to do to even mention goin against him. lol got plans for 16 to 20 k in the future

I railed on her pretty good but never tested her with the drivers door open i peak at 40hz so im ok there i have a couple perks i want to do to get me up to 155 first is getting my idle up from 600rpm lol thats the easy one. pics of my score should be up soon

Make sure your subsonic is set right i use to get that problem with my dds could be your box is unloading causeing over excursion

Well i went to compete yesterday at the california state finals first time officially this year and had a good time it was a long day. anyways i did a 154.2 at the headrest with my 4 DC18xls on 7000+watts not to bad and took first in my class. my props go out to DC once again and Rusty? I didnt blow anything up! lol so no recones this trip. talked to a few people and they all agreed next step MORE POWER !

Like corona jeff said will you even see 3k? i have 2k plus per woofer in a perfect world, and my xls sound great. I tried the lvl 5s first thinking like most of you(get the best and have room to grow) well they didnt work for me, i blew 3 in 3wks. switched to xls and no problems i blew one but that was my error. i would go with xls

You said you had a router then you should use a rundover bit on the inner port wall and the mouth of port. as far as gaps i wouldnt use spray foam use fiberglass resin annd a lil matt. i resin all the insides of my boxes it makes them strong ,fills in any imperfections and makes them smooth as glass, looks good though.

that is correct about the amperage. i had runs of negative front to back now i just have 5 positive runs front to back and 6 0g grounds in the front from alternator bracket and block directly to frame, then 6 grounds in the rear from batteries to frame. with no problems. imo try your grounds at different points and watch your voltage drop at different points and choose the best. this is what i did i have a stinger volt meter on my back batteries this helps alot. and my hoe didnt like certain ground points, so i tested and tried various combinations till i came up with what i have know.

Yesterday i was playing my system pretty loud, and it was warm out, and my highs went out again but never came back on.I bought a fan a few days ago and hoped it was helping. anyways when i got home and checked it out i found that id blown all 3 25a fuses on the amp.i figure its got to be the 1.7 stereo ohm load that caused it plus the heat. so i changed the wiring on my mids to series and it sounded horrible, lol so i put it back the way it was, but i upgraded my power and ground wire from 8g to 4g and took the cover off the side of the amp and placed the fan to get maximum airflow across the board. does that .3 ohms below 2ohms make that much a strain on the amp? i could see on some chinese amp but zapco? thing is it will play fine allday at low to med volume but it doesnt like heat or me railing on it. and ive turned the gain down to avoid clipping. any ideas on how to kool this thing down

Sounds good. there are alot of decent amps out if u can afford it, get the biggest one you can(3-5k) so you have room to upgrade in the future

I have my zapco 750 wired up to my highs at 1.9 the dmm says. and yesterday it was warm out and it cut out on me like 3 times. it has an internal fan and i know its working cause i can hear it. but the left side of it gets hot to the touch. It sounds awesome when its playing, but i dont want it cutting out on me at the show next weekend. has anyone had this problem? is it normal? i could change it out and run 2 amps on my pods, i just want to run 1 though.

Bill has been very helpful in alot of my improvements. thanks again bro. as my fellow car audio addicts know, i can never get enough and get use too, or tire of my systems often.(good thing my ole lady is understanding) so im going to run these pods for a minute then redo the whole door panels. they do there job keeping up with my 18s though. powered off that 750.2 they better. cant wait till the 25th.
