Got DD/CC-1,SMD hater changed
dog24fret replied to dog24fret's topic in SMD Crossover Callibrator (CC-1) Topics
Yes I said anal my son and daughter remind me often that some of the things I use to say wasn't setting a good example for them.Yes sir it's cool he kept a opened mind when it's so easy to keep a closed mind to new things which all of us at one point or another have done it.I was hoping what I said about the DD/CC-1 and the design team gave them credit.Good, long lasting products are hard to find anymore.Plus some laughter to boot. -
I watched my favorite comedians today Foxworthy and Larry.Which gave me some "you might be a" thoughts so I hope some of yall will get a kick out them. You might be a audiophile if the Doppler radar system finds a high pressure point going down route 66.When the storm chasers get there all they find is you. You might be a audiophile when you can dust, vacuum and recirculate the air in your vehicle all at the same time by remote or touchscreen. You might be a audiophile when the local massage parlors are losing business when you come to town to get parts. You might be a audiophile if you can make scrambled eggs without the use of any utensils.(Steve)

First off Thanks Steve for great products I love them. They have allot of quality and pride built into them which is so quickly being lost.I really love the hard plastic battery connector. Instead of the soft backed connectors that will break either the wires or solder joints. Then I went inside to look at the board and looked at the solder joints and wire connections and they are solid shouldn't have any breakage or burn outs. I really hope this don't tick Steve or the crew that helped with the design and build.I actually do this with all of my stuff amps, radios, guitars etc.The wife says I'm anal that way. I have a friend who works at a local shop who wanted to see them when I got them in.After I went through all my stuff and a few friends installs it made a big difference.I took them to him at the shop he tested his stuff and seen that they where off.So he went in and finished three set ups in less time it took to do one. Then the shop foreman if you will was pissed that he used Smd stuff instead of the shop oscope. The shop foreman thinks Steve is a joke who don't know what a real install is.Also doesn't even care about the noobs in the audio world. He is a top of the class install grad who is better than everyone else and his crap don't stink.Absolutely nothing against install grads at all.So needless to say he went through the systems that were set with the DD/CC-1 and was surprised that they were dead on and better than what he sets them at.Who knew that would happen LOL.So his opinion has changed from doesn't want to hear about SMD at the shop. To checking out the vids and ordering the DD/CC-1s for the shop.I liked his comment he said to me before I left "I've been reminded that not all great stuff has to be in a install bay.Or be a brand name that has been used for years.Sometimes new stuff can be better than big names as the case with these tools."

I like that I wonder how many people have used 2 shaft players. This really makes ya think how far tech has really come ome good some bad. I wonder what will be instore for the next 20 or so years. IMO one of the best things to come out that I wish we had back in the day. Is Steves' Destortion Detector that would have made a big difference in installs back in the day. Where was you back then Steve you could have made it for us then LOL. -

Yea I remember when I worked at stereo one and going from 8 track to cassette player was the cool thing. God just think we've or some have watched it go from am,fm players to 8 track to cassette to cd to multimedia units. Or going from having to make heavy mods to put head units to install kits so much nicer. Even remember the first Rockford to the first Kickers. The maturity part is in the eye of the beholder cause some of us old dudes can be as bad as a teen. Just how long it takes us to decide if we can afford our toys. Lol -

Oh really I didn't realize that was what that was ment for. Im still learning the calculator I was under the impression that common walls was if I was building all the wall for the port. The port is at the top back of the enclosure so it'll have the back wall and both sides. So I need to put three in and I'll do that right now and later I'll try to get the pic of the box in. If there's anything else I need to know feel free to tell me. I'm just making sure I can get this as close to right as I can before I build. Thank you very much sir. everything else looks fine, but i'd add a second baffle for strength purposes. i know you have a lot of bracing but another baffle will never hurt. Yes sir, I plan on having an extra baffle on the front that is bolted on to serve as decorative and strength purpose. The extra baffle will go around all the subs to give the counter sunk look and the box will be covered in vinyl.Posting the corrected box calculator, hopefully.

It will be 8 12" hifi12d4s powered by DD cm1s 4 on each amp.If you didn't see the first post on this it'll be in a 97 e-150 van.The port area was too small so this one is a little bigger and hopefully it works well. Thanks and any input is always welcomed. Have you heard these sus yet? How low do they get and what would you rate the sq? I was running 4 of them in 1.743ft3 sealed each cause I screwed up on my measurements. As far how they sound in that enclosure they where very tight on response. They hit good for subs under 50$ when we started testing vented enclosures at my friends garage. We found that in a 2.15 ft3 tuned at 33-34Hz they where comparable to other brands. I just won't get into nameing them cause I won't down brands. What I've learned on my own and from the helpful guys on this forum is the box makes the most differance to the sound and performance of any sub. I've personally seen a guy here at a car show with a really good sound only to find out the subs where pyrimids. These subs are not the same setup or quality as higher priced subs like dd's,smd's or fi audio for examples. You get what you pay for or the level of performance you can afford. This build in my van so has about 1100$ in it over a year. My wife got me these sub for my anniversary present and I'll work with what I can afford. Not trying to sound bad just giving my honest and best opinion I can but yes to me they are good. Just don't put them next to sod's or other high performance subs and expect them to keep up just might leave a ring mark in the roof of your vehicle LOL.To clear up the first part each sub had it's own chamber of 1.743ft3 wanted to clear that up cause it didn't sound right.
