  1. no need to apologize. vent mach is the speed (measured in ft/s) in which air moves in and out of a port.
  2. What is better for moving more air in the cabin? Larger port area and slower vent mach? or Smaller port area and faster vent mach?
  3. awesome thanks, also, a higher 1st port resonance wont effect my low notes, right?
  4. Four (4) Rockford P1 S8 10" subs Rockford T500-1bdcp @ 2 ohms (600 rms) Im building a new box for my subs, and i have been using Torres and WinIsd. I cant seem to figure out what "1st port resonance" means. I'm trying to tune down to 32 or 33 hz, and i have many workable porting options, but i dont know where my port resonance should be at. i have a few different designs, resonances ranging from 280hz-600hz. somebody help?
  5. Boston speakers on a sony HU. hahaha i thought it would sound like shit too, but to be honest, they sound crisper and louder on the HU than the amp i used to have Amazing. Trade my JVC head unit? it doesnt get very loud before it starts to sound like crap and gets muffled and what not. FTL haha bro it was a $89 unit from PEP BOYS hahahahaha. Sony CDX-Gt340 i believe

  7. even though the problem is solved i thought id point this out just because your amp says 600 watts rms doesn't mean that all the subs are seeing 600 watts. you have a mono amp which means all your subs split the power. an amp cannot just make up 600 watts for all 4 subs (that would be 2k watts and that t500bd just couldn't do it) so all in all your subs are seeing around 150 watts if you really are getting 600 watts out. then again your gain is set at 1/10 so its probably 50-100 watts/sub just saying build a new box and get some more power and you should have a bumpin system! This X2 MOAR POWER! you really think i should do more power? its so tempting but id feel guilty, the amp is so new and so fresh...
  8. hahaha im sure its not the 6x9s, they're hooked up to the head-unit (until i get a new amp), got 0 bass going into them, all tweeter right now
  9. i have always been a diamond audio fan. i would NEVER go with D3's though. i would save up the extra 100 bucks or so and get the D6s. They are constructed WAY better than D3s and weigh like 42lbs
  10. ? Playing below your box tuning, If you're playing super low notes and you're tuned to 40hz that is why your subs get smelly. thanks so much, i guess its time to start a new 33hz build!
  11. bro, 5/10 in fractions is 1/2. simplify sorry my gain knob is numbered 1-10
  12. My head unit is a sony xplod with 2v preouts. I do have it runnin on a stock batt and stock alt, but i have never once had a problem with dimming lights or decreasing bass volume from it. I am getting the big 3 very soon... is it better to have my gain low and HU sub level high? or gain higher with sub level on 0...
  13. bro, the CLIPPING point is at 5/10, i keep my gain on 1/10 though. and i did say what equipment i had. 4 P1 10's on a T500-1bdcp
  14. its 4 P1 10s. that 600 rms. i have exactly 600 going into them from my T500-1bd, punch eq is at 0. I really think this is more of an enclosure or overexcursion problem resulting from it.
  15. no its 1/10 on the amp gain. the subwoofer level on the HU is at 0
  16. i do know how to set my gains sir, clipping is at 5/10 and its only on 1/10
  17. how come when i bump really low notes, i can smell my subs get really hot?
  18. to be honest, winISD isnt the most accurate out there. i NEVER base my box designs on the subwoofer. I judge the box's airspace on the size and RMS output of the subwoofer. this is what i do- my last build was for a alpine type R 12, and if you havent noticed, it's not in the "drivers" list. Basically, i did some research, and i decided to build the box based on the JL w6 (because it is most similar in size and RMS output). in the end, the box ended up making the sub sound BEAUTIFUL tuned to 37 hz. my suggestion is to find the most similar subwoofer (to your own sub) in the list, and plan the box to that. hope i helped.
  19. id say only if you were running at 4-8 ohms which isnt very practical if your on this website haha
  20. LOL they're CVR's. Dont recone. You can find them online for like 70 bucks.
