  1. quite simplified it means the next frequency which the port will emphasize, due to it matches a quarter wavelength of sound. U get different first resonances cuz of different lenghts of the port. However, as u see those numbers are quite high. The sub wont be playing any 300hz frequencier (u are using lowpass filter), however... in a speaker where u actually would be playing in that frequency range, this 1st port resonance might come into play. But for subboxes, it can be completely discarded.

awesome thanks, also, a higher 1st port resonance wont effect my low notes, right?

  2. Four (4) Rockford P1 S8 10" subs

    Rockford T500-1bdcp @ 2 ohms (600 rms)

Im building a new box for my subs, and i have been using Torres and WinIsd.

I cant seem to figure out what "1st port resonance" means. I'm trying to tune down to 32 or 33 hz, and i have many workable porting options, but i dont know where my port resonance should be at. i have a few different designs, resonances ranging from 280hz-600hz. somebody help?

  3. Strange must sound like complete ass unless im wrong. i hated having my speakers on my head unit and now i got em on this classic amp and they instantly reak if i clip the signal too hard. im about to remove the amp from them and what not. its driving my nucking futs.

Boston speakers on a sony HU. hahaha i thought it would sound like shit too, but to be honest, they sound crisper and louder on the HU than the amp i used to have

Amazing. Trade my JVC head unit? it doesnt get very loud before it starts to sound like crap and gets muffled and what not. FTL

haha bro it was a $89 unit from PEP BOYS hahahahaha. Sony CDX-Gt340 i believe

  5. its 4 P1 10s. that 600 rms. i have exactly 600 going into them from my T500-1bd, punch eq is at 0. I really think this is more of an enclosure or overexcursion problem resulting from it.

even though the problem is solved i thought id point this out

just because your amp says 600 watts rms doesn't mean that all the subs are seeing 600 watts. you have a mono amp which means all your subs split the power. an amp cannot just make up 600 watts for all 4 subs (that would be 2k watts and that t500bd just couldn't do it)

so all in all your subs are seeing around 150 watts if you really are getting 600 watts out. then again your gain is set at 1/10 so its probably 50-100 watts/sub

    just saying

build a new box and get some more power and you should have a bumpin system! :drinks:

    This X2

    MOAR POWER!

you really think i should do more power? its so tempting but id feel guilty, the amp is so new and so fresh...

  6. I can get both for about the same price. I already have an amp which is an MA audio m1889i which is 800 rms at 2 ohms... My goal is for a daily system that gets decently loud and also sounds good doing it... just wondering which subwoofers I should choose the dcons or the d3s. Thanks.

i have always been a diamond audio fan. i would NEVER go with D3's though. i would save up the extra 100 bucks or so and get the D6s. They are constructed WAY better than D3s and weigh like 42lbs

  7. 1/10th of the amp gain doesnt sound like clipping to me or even over-powering, probably box and playing way below tuning with voltage drop. What type of HU are you using? 4v preouts or lower? Having your headunit too high with bad preouts CAN cause clipping there so many different variables but chances are its clipping + enclosure + too low of tuning.

My head unit is a sony xplod with 2v preouts. I do have it runnin on a stock batt and stock alt, but i have never once had a problem with dimming lights or decreasing bass volume from it. I am getting the big 3 very soon...

is it better to have my gain low and HU sub level high? or gain higher with sub level on 0...

  8. I'm trying to mess around with WinISD on a sub that isnt in the list.. well i found everything i needed except for the Le abbreviation. Answer should be in mH. Ive googled everything i can think of and still not coming up with anything. Also not sure about what the Dia stands for

Here is what i got. This is for a 15" Sxx RE audio

    qts .38

    vas 126.3 l

    fs 27.8

    re 1.9

    Le

    xmas 22mm

    z 2

    qms 4.7

    qes .38

    SPL: 90.4

    pe 1000

    bl 21

dia 14 (is this suspose to be 14? Diameter of what? )

    sd 810 cm^2

to be honest, winISD isnt the most accurate out there. i NEVER base my box designs on the subwoofer. I judge the box's airspace on the size and RMS output of the subwoofer.

    this is what i do-

my last build was for a alpine type R 12, and if you havent noticed, it's not in the "drivers" list. Basically, i did some research, and i decided to build the box based on the JL w6 (because it is most similar in size and RMS output). in the end, the box ended up making the sub sound BEAUTIFUL tuned to 37 hz.

my suggestion is to find the most similar subwoofer (to your own sub) in the list, and plan the box to that. hope i helped.

  9. So my friend bought 2 12" Kicker CVR's D2 about 3 months ago ran them for awhile off barely any power, then they sounded like there was a tapping noise (like almost like blown but they still bumped.) So I said probably tinsel leads or blown coil, take them out measure on the DMM read a perfect 2ohms each side. So I move the sub up and down free air and i feel no rub or anything, check the tinsel leads to the terminals no appearant slapping. I look through the air gap and the coils are bright copper.

So we hook it up freeair it at RMS and we hair the noise sounds pretty bad freeaired not too bad in a box. What could it be and is it fixable? and what does forevrbmpn charge for his recones?

LOL they're CVR's. Dont recone. You can find them online for like 70 bucks.
