  1. I've been looking for 30-45 minutes for my power clamp... no luck... so I cannot give power to SPL comparisons at this time. Simply comparing HU volume levels... with my HU sub control at -3 this is the results: MONSTER : 151.6 dB NS v.2 : 154.0 dB The NS may be seeing way more power due to reduced inductance... I have no way to know until I find my clamp. The Monster kept getting louder until the HU hit +6 as well where it did 155.1 dB. I will do more testing later... had an issue with the samples coil formers / coil leads being too short so I had to rig it up to work... one connection broke in my testing. I am ordering new coil samples with taller formers / taller coil leads for production and further testing. I will try to rig it up a better way to get more testing until then, though!
  2. It is technically possibly to make 10s, although, I consider it overkill I am really not sure on a pre-order since they are built to order... but I may consider it.
  3. Not yet... just getting this in for testing today... will test it for a while then start production on the motors. After production actually starts it is ~3 months.
  4. It'll go in the magic box tomorrow once the glue is cured overnight
  5. Comparison : NS v.2 / Z v.2 / NS v.1 It's here ! I'll build it up once I'm done w/ shipping for the day to make sure it meets all my design specs.
  6. Back in stock now with D2 and D4.
  7. Not many D4 left at all... I'd go with the AQ2200D.
  8. The VAS is related to the suspension stiffness -- the spider is that stiff. You can see the DD 1508 is almost as stiff. The RE-8 is quite soft in comparison... many times softer.
  9. The amps are done - so pre-order is OVER. Few pictures of complete production run amps / cartons :
  10. Prototype motor is *supposed* to be here tomorrow too... so I should have more pics of it as well @ that time.
  11. Monster coil is 12-layers -- yah, the NS v.1 and v.2 are 8-layer coils.
  12. The coil : Left to Right : Monster D1 coil, NS v.2 D2 Coil, NS v.1 D1 Coil It is a good bit heavier than the v.1 NS coil but about 15 grams of that is in the former as it is double thickness material. Still 15g lighter than the Monster coil The "standard" coil is very long... I will also be offering a 56mm version with 0.7 / 1.4 DCR... the long coils are 1.0 / 1.8 DCR.
  13. It is in place as long as you see this thread open.
  14. We got it 150.2 dB this time by sealing up the port panel and running the speaker wire out of a drilled hole (sealed with silicone) rather than out the port :
  15. We are back @ the shop and Sean is doing some tweaks.
  16. You can't see the amp being used - 3500D. We aren't using all of the power of the amp but we haven't clamped it yet to see exact power.
  17. We got it up to 68 Hz but still did 149.9 dB again -- we have a few more ideas for tomorrow. Need to seal up the port plate (I gained a bunch doing this in my dual 8" box) and a few other things: * Just duct tape sealing it right now.
  18. So Sean is up with his CRX and we are doing some testing... we hit a brick wall last time at 149.0 dB using a 4" aero-port. So... Sean and I got the idea to try a 6" aero-port for the single 8" woofer! The result is 149.9 dB so far. Peak is 66 Hz in the kick... the CRX normally peaks at 68 Hz so we are going to work on re-tuning to break the 150 outlaw. Fun stuff We have as much port area as cone are now *laughs*
  19. I guess I never did measure the specs... so I did it today : RE: 3.55 ohms FS: 45.8 Hz Qes: 0.366 Qms: 6.44 Qts: 0.346 Le: 3.25 mH Vas: 5.97 L BL: 23.69 N/A Cms: 59.92 uM/N Mms: 200g
