  1. If you don't need all of the revised crossover features from the B through C versions, yep, still a great amp. Also does not have the new style casing, which is not going to kill you - hundreds of 100.4s out there have the old casing and work great
  2. * Box is three layers thick on the front for amp mounting - but we are still trying to find another place to mount the amps. * Huge port! * Brandon's trophies from the show, and our lucky extra dBeez! * Damage to the roof from demoing at the show * Another view The deadener is also ripped all around the edges of the perimeter of the roof... little pieces were falling down all day!
  3. He is peaking higher now, 49 Hz, but the score doesn't drop all that much into the 30s.
  4. Did 151.0 dB with nobody in the car today, MECA show @ the windshield. Has done 151.9 dB with a driver in the car in our testing. Results of the show... - Roof welds broken - Roof brace broken in two again - A good portion of our deadener shredded around flex points - Lots of people who lost a little bit of their hearing *laughs* We'll get some pics when we get back to work next week.
  5. Shipping is crazy high with gas prices up and all *laughs*
  6. The outer-diameter is almost exactly the same and the winding height is a bit shorter to get the right impedance - it can't be any fatter or it wouldn't fit the gap, the flat wire is so much thinner we got 12 layers in place of eight. If it tests well enough to offer I will suggest it only for burps - I expect the BL^2 / Re to get too high to really be "useful" daily. The 8-layer round with our 5-spider pack actually makes a pretty good daily sub - that is what I'll suggest for most people if this guy goes production.
  7. Oh yah... I'll do some coil pics when I'm back in the office next week.
  8. I think she is coming to the MECA show tomorrow where Brandon is showing the Bronco
  9. We have this put together again with the 8-layer round coil again - using different glues for assembly as well as the PROPER nomex voice coil wrapping! We'll try to get some good testing in on it ASAP. The 12-layer flat coil is sitting on my desk too... looks ridiculous. We'll test that once (IF ???) we tear it up again
  10. About 1/2 of them are gone now - trying to get more in as soon as possible, they just keep flying out!
  11. Shipping will be $1149 each - and I'll throw the amps in free! *laughs*
  12. Indeed I think its a very good deal - celebrating Sundown being in business for 2 years! We started selling 1500Ds and 100.2s as our first products in August of 2006!
  13. Seems to take about twice as much equipment to get the same score in a Bronco II as a similar vehicle - but there is hope
  14. It shocked us this time... I didn't think we would get it this high without a wall We'll post the numbers after the weekend!
  15. We'll post up after the show It's metering WAY higher than it was with either the three 15s or two 15s - WAY higher.
  16. I am not planning one at this time - but if there is going to be one my SMD forum or my *** forum would be the place to watch.
  17. The way the windshield looks... we think the rear view is going to fall of first then the glass will break. It has a crack already, so its coming. He already had to weld his roof braces back together and back to the roof... those broke off, and one broke in half. This was BEFORE the recent additions!
  18. Brandon is showing his Bronco with the new setup for the first time this weekend at a MECA show here in Mooresville, NC. It is actually metering pretty well - finally - and sounds correspondingly louder. We don't know what it'll do by MECA rules, but we are impressed so far! We will get new pictures and videos of the beast after the weekend unveiling at the show! It now has four Nightshade 15s and two SAZ-3000Ds for power
  19. Little more information for those that missed it - this is a solid amp @ 1 ohm and under 16 volts. It is not an SAZ series amp so does not like to be ran at 1/2 ohm for music or on 16 volt systems. If you plan to do either of those things the SAZ-1500D is still the amp for you. I am very pleased with this model and it is the first of many new models in the works for the SAE line!
  20. Another special deal for Sundown customers! ------ Pre-Sale price is $350 on these until they arrive in around 4 weeks. Pre-Sale is direct from Sundown only - once they arrive the pre-sale will be over and they will be regular priced at $499 MSRP. Price is shipped in the continental 48 states, e-mail for otherwise. PAYPAL to [email protected] to order - no quantity limits! Or mail a money order / cashiers check to: Sundown Audio 151 Rebel Hill Dr Mooresville, NC 28115 If you mail a money order be sure to include a note with your name, shipping address, e-mail, and phone number. This is estimated time for delivery (4 weeks), could be more or less - but this is a great deal on these amps to those with patience! Full 2-year normal Sundown Warranty (and 5-year discounted replacement). SOLID amp, very under-rated. They do come with a remote gain knob as well, FYI. ----- PICS: * Front face identical to current SAE-1000D model * Control panel side w/ hi-level inputs and woofer remote input (this remote is not compatible with other remotes) * Silver colored metal connectors to match other amps. Notice all internal fins are textured with "micro fins", as well as insides of side walls and bottoms of the feet. Very high surface area for heat dissipation! * Dual Torroids, large output filter inductor, etc. You can see the substantial transistor banks discussed earlier as well as the healthy sized capacitor banks. ----- Testing done on August 21st on production sample: Playing around with the SAE-1200D a bit just testing maximum power, period. No regards to distortion we got up to the following: 43.3 Amps 46.7 Volts 1.08 Ohms Actual ---- 2022 Watts Any more and we would blow the fuses to pieces. Just curious to see how far we could push it - this is not a test with regards to distortion at all, THD was probably well into the double digits here - well into clipping. Actual output at low distortion is easily 1200-1500 watts at 12.8 volts in a car.
  21. Sale time at Sundown Audio! The SAZ-1500D is on sale for $425 shipped in the continental USA until the end of September. 22. Nah - he doesn't have a MECA fuse setup yet.
  23. We didn't have anything else to prop it on - we just got bored and went to town metering at the shop I want to see how it does "officially" at an event.
