  1. Could not break it... part II uploading now as well. This thing is super rugged.
  2. Taco, Paco, and I have spent the last half hour trying to break the SD-2 prototype with no luck... two YouTube videos coming up. Ran out of camera memory on both of them trying to break it *laughs* PS: Taco and Paco are summer interns.
  3. a little? looks like you're gonna smoke that sub.... im amazed by the capabilities of this sub..... I played each sample for about ~10 minutes at that level for break-in.
  4. Simply a good daily woofer -- they will sound quite nice.
  5. They should be close until really high power when these run out of x-mech and the SA has room to keep moving.
  6. Little bit of testing while breaking it in for T/S measurements. Getting on it pretty hard here in the video.
  7. All of them have a spacer but the newest ones have the vented spacer with Sundown Audio logo on it
  8. Prototypes arrived today... working on doing full break-in to measure official specs. Honestly I am super happy with the prototypes -- I do plan to tool a magnet boot and put our logo on the cap but I don't think any other changes are needed at all. SD-2 12" Measured Mounting Depth = 5.25" SD-2 10" Measured Mounting Depth = 4.75" ----- Early price estimates -- MAP price (actual price paid from dealer) (SA cost for comparison) SA-10 v.1 : $185 SA-12 v.1 : $195 SD-2 10 : $150 SD-2 12 : $160 Pre-ordering would be something like : SD-2 10 : $115 SD-2 12 : $125 That would be shipped in the continental 48 states. Once I do some testing we'll have an ETA and a time when pre-ordering will begin. ----- * Quite a bit less depth than the SA series for depth restricted applications.
  9. I am still not set on what I'm doing with the v.2 SA-8 -- we are still testing. The next run of SA-8s will have the new frame, though.
  10. Measured specs on our WT2 : SD-2 12" D4 : Fs: 35.0 Hz Hz Re: 7.4 ohms ohms Qms: 6.00 Qes: 0.60 Qts: 0.55 Cms: 0.11 mm/N Mms: 186 g BL: 22.5 NA Vas: 29.43 L Sens: 85.3 dB 1w/1m Le: 6.58 mH We used a bit different surface area calculation so our VAS varies from the factory measurement. Also our system measured DCR a bit different too. The main point, though, is that Fs and Qts bothe dropped and the CMS is now close to the goal of 0.12 mm/N I'll measure them all as I get time to break them in for "official" specs on our WT2 device.
  11. SA-12 with D2 coils just sold out about 5 minutes ago. We still have SA-10 D2/D4, SA-12 D4, and SA-15 D2/D4 in stock. A container of all SA series 10,12,15 is due around June 20th. The SA-8s are not due until mid July.
  12. That is for music... Jared was tuned very low and the subs moved incredibly far on low power when all chambered together.
  13. It would be impressive... I think that it is theoretically possible to bass-race 159.9 with one woofer with enough throw. motor power, and power handling and it's something I had thought about trying to do but never have had time to follow through with.
  14. The changes have not been major -- but this is the SA series history : 2009 - First SA-12s released : 4-spoke frame with 4 vent holes 1st revision - Triple joint rings added : 4-spoke frame with 12 vent holes 2nd revision - Magnet boot added 3rd revision - Pole cap size and shape change : custom tooled ventilation ring added and frame vents removed Each vent change increased thermal handling a bit -- but they have always handed a ton of power. The SAZ-2500D is probably over twice as powerful as the two Crunch amps combined in reality -- so that is probably most of it -- Now on the SA-8s we made a big improvement with the bolted on spiders starting on the second run -- the first run were just glued on and at higher than rated power could be popped off the basket. With the other sizes this never happened but we added the extra epoxy later on anyway.
  15. You could use down to 0.3 per in a very large setup like what Jared had.
  16. Also... the more you put together in a box keep the box as small as you can per driver. We learned this in Jared's truck with 12 of them in a wall BIG TIME -- they would get to full 2" p-p stroke even with 0.5 each with under 400 watts with that many of them housed together.

  18. No 8s. We have the SA-8 and E8 v.2 already on the market that cover it pretty well.
  19. Updated List : 2x SA-10 D4 1x SA-10 D2 9x SA-12 D4 3x SA-12 D2 4x SA-15 D2
  20. "Cosmetic flaws like scuffs, excess glue, etc, etc. All are tested to work fine."
  21. That is what I have. 2x SA-10 D4 1x SA-10 D2 9x SA-12 D4 3x SA-12 D2 2x SA-15 D4 5x SA-15 D2 These are b-stock subs... some small defect is present on them so don't order expecting a woofer to put in a show-car install.
  22. 5/24/11 : I have some B-stock SA series in 10s, 12s, and 15s available... also a few E8 v.2s Contact me for actual stock information on these... simply ask me about what you are interested in and how many (size and coil) and I'll check if we have that in b-stock. E-MAIL TO [email protected] Cosmetic flaws like scuffs, excess glue, etc, etc. All are tested to work fine. SA-10s -- $135 SA-12s -- $145 SA-15s -- $165 E8 v.2s -- $70 Shipped in continental USA. B-stock subs carry our normal warranty.
  23. A bit too early -- still getting final materials costs together.
