  1. Well that is all the SA-15 has in it as it sits ! I tried another +1 and did the same 153.7 but the graph was all nasty on it. That is all the testing I can do for today -- gotta get back to work ! I may try moving things around and whatnot next time I get a chance to work on it.
  2. Some more photos : * One more click ! Sub still okay... will charge and try yet another
  3. I put tape on it before and there was no change.
  4. Glad I didn't sell the ol' Jeep... I took a small portion of the day to actually mess around with my own setup so I don't go crazy and hate stereos *laughs* I am building the back battery / amp rack for a forward firing SSNW setup and I was initially scared that it would hurt my scores with the Magic Box until I start on that -- of course I haven't clamped power yet... but this is the best score I've ever done with an SA-15. What I'm using is a Dual-2 copper coil SA-15 that I used to measure T/S for the official spec sheet I made -- this one is identical to the production run due next month; which only differs from what we sell now in that it has a shorting ring and a different shape pole flare. I am going to try another click soon but had to share this before I risked tearing the woofer up  Video is in process of uploading to YouTube.
  5. Whenever I get around to launching these I will likely just have these and a 6.5" coaxial for quite a while -- then slooooowly do more sets. To have components and coaxials made require HUGE stock and I want to really concentrate on finishing out our sub and amp lines before I go off on too many tangents (as I also have the PA 8s and 10s coming out as well).
  6. We got the tweeters in -- active at the moment -- sound is awesome for the expected price point. Next we will test the passive crossovers.
  7. As a super shallow super high power is not a priority -- so far Nick is using a 100 RMS per channel amp with proper crossovers without issues. I would not suggest an amp any larger.
  8. Physical comparison to the Hybrid Clarus tweeter that Nick has been running : Similar form factor - obviously much different designs inside. HAT is on the right.
  9. We have a good bit of testing and tweaking to do to get them market ready but so far I am pleased for a first sample set. We'll keep you guys updated as always !
  10. I've had my dealers asking me for years for a shallow component set so I started on one... here are some sneak peeks of the first sample set. We are testing them in Nick's car since he is a big SQ guy They are VERY shallow and will fit in any application I can imagine. For a driver this shallow excursion is not bad; obviously not a super high throw driver but crossover over steeply at 80 Hz will do nicely. So far we've tested the mid and we are very pleased for the depth and cost... Overall set price would be under $200 from an authorized dealer.
  11. Below text compose by Mike Bruno for the sale of these drivers. We are not re-building them; Mike is. All after sales support will be handled by Mike by his terms on these refurbished drivers. PM: woofercooker – or preferably – e-mail: [email protected] for inquiries. ---------- I will be selling Sundown’s inventory of SA-8s that have either failed quality control testing or were returned by customers. Each of these woofers were tested by Jacob and found to have a defect in the coil alignment or other cosmetic / performance defects. I will be refurbishing these woofers with the latest OEM SA-8 parts and reselling them to the public. Many of these have never been mounted or powered other than to check for coil alignment or other defects; some are warranty returns so will be used motors, though. Buyers will receive 100% fully functional refurbished Sundown Audio SA-8 woofers. As I said, some of these have been used before so there may be some signs of use on the motors. The baskets and soft parts are all guaranteed to be brand new. Available in D2 and D4 coils. 12. The size is larger than the 4500D but it's not twice as big or anything -- I've said many times in the past that I don't like SUPER large amps for reliability, practicality, and repair cost reasons. I am estimating under 30" long right now depending on final layout considerations.
  13. Will disclose more information soon It's not an ultra large amp that is impractical but is more powerful than the 4500D by a good margin!
  14. SAX-1200D : Sold out - more due in 3-4 weeks. SAZ-1500D v.2 : Sold out - ETA pending. SAZ-4500D : Sold out and discontinued. We have opted to cease production on the 4500D now that stock is depleted. ANNOUNCEMENT : The 4500D is stepping down as our flag-ship amplifier to be replaced by a new, more powerful unit... the "NS-1" -- more details to follow.
  15. We really don't have anything optional aside from progressive updates made to them... we use a different spider with larger leads compared to original and also tooled a new surround that is wider and taller. I am out right now but I had some SPL coils too -- which lose too much low-end for me to suggest for daily.
  16. I'll ship them out to the customer on Monday - I was pleased with the results. I think they will suit him nicely.
  17. 2nd generation. 1st gen was the triple stack, 3rd gen is the neodymium. i believe your wrong. 1st was a double stack then 2nd was the triple stack then the 3rd is the ufo and now 4th is the neo's i love threads like these to. nice work jacob Thanks The 1st get BTL had a double stack AND triple stack option -- most people opted for triple stack so the double is often forgotten Then the UFO style came out -- now the Neo versions on the market. I've messed with the double and triple first versions and now the UFO but haven't re-coned the Neo model yet.
  18. Depends on what it is... I don't do a whole lot of custom re-cones due to time restraints, though. When you attach the voice coil to the cone how do you do that? Do you place the voice coil in the gap then attach the cone to the coil, or do you do it outside of the woofer? We do it with the coil and spider assembly glued down to the frame and shimmed out. Of course when making a drop-in kit we don't glue the spider pack down while attaching the cone -- but it is in the motor shimmed out while gluing the cone on. It makes sure the cone is aligned correctly.
  19. Depends on what it is... I don't do a whole lot of custom re-cones due to time restraints, though.
  20. * Put a small pad on as the double leads can make a small tapping sound at high excursion. Probably not audible in-box but it makes me feel better!
  21. Thermal RMS will be about the same as stock -- mechanically these are a bit softer based on what the customer has for enclosure and power.
  22. Based on customer input these will have two Z v.2 spiders and a Nightshade cone to go with the Z v.3 coil and triple joint ring The new spacer was needed to make clearance for the triple joint ring so it will not hit the extended neck on the top plate. --- * Double Leads * Spacer installed. * Split magnet * Going to poke leads through, solder, and finish top triple joint this morning. This is the first one -- second one will be the same. --- T/S specs measured after short break-in period - should extend nice and low for the customer : RE: 2.0 ohms Fs: 31.8 Hz Qes: 0.33 Qms: 7.66 Qts: 0.32 Le: 2.59 mH Vas: 64 L BL: 18.3 NA Mms: 267g Cms: 93 uM/N Sens: 89.76 dB 1w/1m
  23. Had a customer send in a pair of BTL 15s for me to re-build -- first time seeing the new UFO style BTLs in person. Very large and heavy motor on these guys -- also looks like they started using four separate magnets on these rather than a single large slug; presumably to prevent potential defects in the big slug. In any event -- on to the to re-build... the original failure was a burnt up tinsel lead on one of the drivers... so I am using our double lead Z v.2 spiders on the re-builds. * Original Failure Point * I am using a Z v.3 coil -- it is similar in dimension to the BTL stock coil but it is 8-layers vs. 4-layers on the BTL coil... it is 60mm WW vs. 64mm WW on the original. Performance should be very similar in the end, though. * I used a rear triple joint ring from the Z v.3 line on these. * Original rear triple joint - just a bit dusty. * Original basket spacers - these are here to make room for the extended top plate neck on this driver. * Using these nuts to get the spacing right while waiting on the machined spacers. ----- They are done -- I should have them by Friday or so to finish these drivers next Monday. They are made of Delrin -- a super hard resin material : Acetal Resin | DuPont ™ Delrin ®
