Well, we can get the 1500s down to 1/2 ohm this way - and I had four used 1500s in the shop that I used rather than put brand new amps in More amps available for customers that way. -

They are actually two channels each PS: Got a different box built for the beast today - actually modified an old box I had made for two DD 9510s that did a 150 in my brothers truck almost 2 years ago. My CD player is skipping WAY worse than before - I'll probably get to meter it tomorrow or Monday. -
Now you can do just about anything with it! A little SAX-100.4 history: SAX-100.4 -- Original model SAX-100.4B -- Updated crossover ranges SAX-100.4C -- Upgraded from 50-amp to 70-amp power supply transistors SAX-100.4D -- This is the newest model ----- The following functionality will be had with the crossovers: ALL CHANNELS: Subsonic @ 10 Hz - 500 Hz (always on, can be used as the HPF for a band-pass setup in conjunction with the LPF) HPF @ 50 Hz - 500 Hz w/ x10 button (selectable 12dB / 24dB slope) LPF @ 50 Hz - 500 Hz w/ x10 button (selectable 12dB / 24dB slope) ----- So, what will you be able to do with the new model that you couldn't do before ? 1) You can bridge the amp and actively band-pass a midrange / midbass thanks to x10 functionality on both HPF and LPF on both sets of channels. 2) You can cross-over tweeters much lower with the 24 dB slopes. I have had several requests to implement this from people wanting to use planar tweeters as well, as these require steeper slopes. 3) You can experiment with overlap with the selectable slopes. 4) Most importantly for reliability and consistency... the small sub-cards that hold the crossovers will be re-tooled as double sided boards instead of single-sided. Almost all problems with previous SAX-100.4s were the result of solder problems on the single sided crossover PCB - as uncommon as these problems were we took care of the source! All of these changes will result in a bit longer amp to fit the new crossover boards (about 1.5" longer), but will be worth it for the SQ enthusiasts who will appreciate this type of functionality. ----- Special pre-order price until they arrive - current ETA is 8-10 weeks or so from the date of this posting - $325 shipped in the continental 48-states!. Contact for shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and outside the USA. You can take advantage of this via an authorized dealer or directly from Sundown Audio by sending Paypal to [email protected] with a note reading "SAX-100.4D pre-order" NOTE: This pre-order is for the USA and countries that DO NOT have an authorized Sundown Audio distributor ONLY.

Testing Big Boy Monster 15"

Really not all that bad - those Powermasters are STRONG. The voltage gauge on the Jeep seems to be wildly inaccurate, though, so I would need to have a DMM hooked up to really tell. -

We try to have a good time That is what car audio is about! Trying to find a good deal on a new alternator... this one looks original too and it has 151k miles on it! -

Oh yah... the alternator is the stock Jeep alternator. This thing has to be like 30-amps... when I added the Powermaster batteries it can't get over 14v anymore. We do have a stock replacement battery under the hood as well with a single run of 1/0 from front to back. You see everything else in there in the pics... no sound dampening yet, no mods... just folded down seat to mount the amps to. -
* This is the box, otherwise known as our "ghetto test box" - we use it in the shop just to drop woofers in and power test them. Not made for SPL *at all* * Our crazy wire mess trying to get four 1500Ds in here playing as quickly as possible * I bet you guys want to know what those little amps are, don't you ? Not telling! I'm sure glad ugly = loud in SPL. Test results so far: 2x 1500Ds = 144.1 dB 4x 1500Ds = 147.0 dB So... appears to be no power compression on this sub yet. We are running out of x-max as the box is tuned quite low and our peak is @ 52 Hz - the port area is also WAY too small for this beast sub. We are going to build a decent box this weekend and I am fully expecting to break 150 dB. This is with the "daily" 8-layer round coil... once (if?) we tear it up with too much power we are going to re-build it with the 12-layer flat SPL coil to see what gains we realize with it.

Indeed - I am sure you would be careful, but, if I let one person do it then there is the ol, "Well, so and so did it and didn't void their warranty!" thing that will come up. Masking it off should do okay. -

I cannot guarantee the quality of your work removing the entire PCB board and re-clamping the MOSFETs, etc -- so this will void your warranty. If you want to sent it to db-r and have him remove it for you and also re-install it that would be okay, but you would need to talk to him about it. -

Glad to help guys I am personally quite excited about the SAX-100.4D so I can bridge the amp and still actively band-pass it on my mid-bass thanks to adding x10 functionality to all four sets of crossovers! I won't be able to do my front stage until they come in either. -

SAX-100.4 -- Original model SAX-100.4B -- Updated crossover ranges SAX-100.4C -- Upgraded from 50-amp to 70-amp power supply transistors SAX-100.4D -- Model coming in 10-12 weeks * * Full information thread: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=19792 The transistor upgrade in the C version really doesn't make an audible difference, just a change I decided I wanted to make for long term reliability. Oh, and there wasn't a problem before either - I just like to keep improving on things -

Since you aren't actively crossing over you aren't going to see much benefit from the other revisions. -

Do you mean tuning frequency or something else, like the AC vents ?
